  • Join me as I start a new project.
    Using a vintage jewellery box drawer, I design my stitchery to put inside using linens, textiles, and other items to make a mixed media art assemblage story box.
    I now have a Facebook group where we can share all things slow stitch. I’d love to see your projects too.

    Your story box is going to be adorable. I think it can also be called a diorama. That's what we called them when I was in school. Looking forward to seeing it finished!

    My vote is for green feet - it will reinforce your garden theme I think? Lovely cheery scene you are creating 😊

    Hi Sally. These little boxes are adorable. Great idea. I think I like the vintage spools for the feet. I think they will look perfect painted yellow. The thimble is perfect for a flower vase. Hugs 🙂❤️

    Hi, the little thread spool that opens from bottom is for storing needles. :)

    • @DottyBeeVintage
      @DottyBeeVintage  2 месяца назад

      That’s what I was thinking too, but the one I have has a hole so the needles will fall through. I will check some others to see if they are different - thanks for letting me know 🌼🌼🌼

    Great idea.,reminds me of old song. How many flowers grow, in an English country garden? We use to sing this at school. X

      Oh that song brings back so many childhood memories, I had to learn to play it for a school show - I am so not musical, it was torture haha 🌼🌼🌼

    Adorable 😍I think I prefer yellow feet. Two vintage cotton spools would be pretty for feet or for a pot(so many ideas in my head😅)TFS ❤❤❤

    I believe they are called "shadow boxes" or "Shadow box art".

    I think green feet would be nice 😊. I love this little box, so very cute and such a great idea! Did you use acrylic paint for the yellow on the box? Also, did you find your little flower or did you cut another? If you did cut another I think the original may be stuck to the underside of your Roxy’s journal of stitchery wall hanging…. A fun video which actually made me pick up my needle and stitch along with you. Thanks for sharing Sally! ❤

      Elly, you are amazing, I’ve just unhooked the Roxy project from the wall and the flower is there! Haha
      The yellow I’ve used is an interior satin water based paint for wood & metal, but I’ve used acrylic for the feet - they are now painted and glued on. I think acrylic would be fine to use on the whole thing too. I use whatever I’ve got around if the colour is right.
      So glad you were inspired to stitch too - have a good day - Sally 🌸

    Sally question did you mention pony needles? I've found some online, but many varieties what's a great slow stitch size please 🙏

    • @DottyBeeVintage
      @DottyBeeVintage  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Denny, my go to needles are chenille no. 22 (for thicker threads) and a cotton darner no. 5 (for the thinner threads and most beads), the make I’ve got is John James and I’m very happy with them. Hope this helps - Sally 🌸

    Sally, how do you do the typing on the fabric? Is it printed off the computer or do you put it directly in an old typewriter?

    • @DottyBeeVintage
      @DottyBeeVintage  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Nan, I use an old typewriter directly onto cloth, when I do part 2, I will film it so you can see 🌸
