And that’s because his vocal tachnique sucks, when you are on your 20s you can sing evrithing but when you go out of your 30s your phisique change and you must learn how to behave. The worst thing about his technique is to push a lot and throw out the tongue when he goes on the high notes
@@klaasschippers3751 you can’t replace a Frontman just like that. And if you do it gives you no guarantee that the band will continue successfully ….I‘m huge Dream Theater fan and I will close this page if they do this for sure.
@enearicci7094 Not really. It's because of the food poisoning incident in 1994. The doctor ordered him to rest his voice for 6 months, and the guys in dream theater (mostly Mike portnoy) forced him to tour anyways. He caused serious damage to his voice. If that didn't happen, his voice would've still deteriorated a bit, but he would've probably sounded like his 1993 self at least until around 2010

No. Kevin Moore quit around July 1994, and none of the other band members saw it coming, although in retrospective, they said that he had been getting more distant and less involved in the songwriting. Portnoy has said that Space-Dye Vest probably wouldn't have been included on Awake if they knew well in advance that Moore was leaving.
unfortunately James had a very bad accident in 1994 that injured very badly his vocal chords. that's why his voice is not that beautiful as it was back in early '90s
@@giacomomartinelli5185 He's recovered quite well. I mean, he's not %100 where he was, of course, but I saw them when they did the 25th anniversary tour for Images and Words, and he sounded great.
He tore his cords, fucked up his nasal cavity, which is a big part of his technique and used rasp without proper technique and applying it to high note. Plus constant touring
Imagine seeing this and then going out and buying Images and Words expecting some nice acoustic songs.
Doesn't matter. You still get Another Day, Surrounded and Wait For Sleep which are fucking beautiful. Even more so than Silent Man
@@marinhrabric6162 for real. Surrounded makes me feel like I can be the most successful man in the world.

The good old days. I saw DT so many times between 92 and 95.
What are your thoughts on Distance Over Time?
Lucky you!!! Saw their golden age!!

Pure goosebumps. Happy Xmas to all.

As a german I find James´shirt funny. It translates as "I´m deaf, I want noise" - he wants metal!
ohh my god. its soo surreal to see them in my homestate with 94 HJY back then. the rocky point reference is also good R.I. nostalgia too.
im goin to build a time machine so i can go back in time and see james at his best
Better than that you should really just stop him from eating that f*cking shrimp

That rendition of "O Holy Night" almost warms my cold, bitter, recovering-ex-Catholic heart.
Thanks ive been looking for this for awhile!

thanks for posting this.. this is one reason i just love Dream Theater...Merry Christmas everyone... greetings from Indonesia.

James was absolutely one of the best.
Wooooo!!! So cool!
What are the chords in 3:40 to 3:48 ?? Thank you guitar gods
