  • In The Citizen Cairn's opinion, an excursion to Sharp Tor (SX259 737) - alongside that of nearby Kilmar Tor - ranks among Bodmin Moor's little gems. At c1,240ft, the former is high enough to completely dominate its surroundings, yet sufficiently compact to allow even those.. er.. possibly 'getting on a bit' to make the ascent.
But wait.. there's more. Yeah, crowning the marginally taller summit of Langstone Downs, to the immediate west, is a fine triumvirate of massive Bronze Age cairns! (SX255 737).
Combine a visit to both sites with a continuation to Bearah Tor and Bearah Common to the north - or vice versa (as in my case) - and you'll enjoy a fine horseshoe walk. Lucky you, eh?
