Yaesu FT 840 Meter Lamp Replacement Two Ways

Fellow ham brought this to me to replace the meter lamp. This should be an easy fix, for a change.

Yes correct Dedave, in Radios with 12VDC at the Lamp i use an LED with a 1k resistor, and i rub the tip of the LED on a file and flatten the tip and when inserted, it then give light with a broad spectrum

A trick I have used with LEDs is to sand the surface to make it "frosted". Sometimes sanding the dome flat also reduces the focus of the LED.
