I always found it curious, Do you ever feel like laubin oboes are as restricted, as people say they are. In terms of producing sound. I play a laubin, and I have to say, I have felt like I am unable to reach very loud dynamic level. I have experimented with reeds, different shapes, gouges. I don't know, let me know what you think.
Height of b key critical for high C# too. My AK Loree is almost closed, maybe a 1/2 mm perfect for me. Poulenc uses high passages with the high C# and D# in the Trio.. and in the Sonata too, in octave drops... tempting us to use the trill fingering for high C#, quickly dropping to the octave below. Fun stuff.
