Mark Chudnow is who I use for regular adjustments/cork repair etc, although I do my own adjustments as Pierre so adeptly demonstrates. As always, these are the best series of videos pertaining to the oboe, in my opinion. I use an AK Loree that i bought from John Ellis. I also desire a Laubin if I can ever afford an additional instrument.
Just my thoughts, but if the larger tone holes have to have a stronger seal with the cork, then how come you adjust the top joint first? Wouldn't adjustments to the bottom half also slightly affect the top joint? At least when dealing with the bridge key?
Soner Wolf The bottom joint can be adjusted perfectly. But if any of the pads leak from the top joint it affects every note below it. Every note! As he stated with the remark of Tabuteau, he would desire that there was perfect sealed suction for one minute. You could be satisfied with 20 seconds. Any less will affect the tone and response of almost every note as Pierre has stated.
Hi, if the low D is playing there might not be enough spring holding the C# down. Sometimes you can wrap a rubber band around the instrument and across the C# tone hole key to hold it down tightly. If the D doesn’t come out well it’s probably the F resonance key. Needs tightening.
Hey again, I was trying to solve your issue without looking at the instrument. There is an adjustment screw for the Low C-C# key and it might be too tight. Try loosening it and that will enable the C key to fully close. Sorry for the previous answer that may or may have not worked. Best
