Thanks for all your content man, really appreciate it... Do you have any video with tips about skitching? I'm looking for something like this cuz weeks ago I tried to skitch on a bus and I almost died basically hahahaha I felt totally stupid right after cuz the circunstances was obviously not appropriated... some guidance would be very useful, for example: what is the best hand position on the bike to stay stable, what are the risks, how to avoid a fall, which place on the vehicle is safier to catch, etc... Thank you again for the great content, hugs from Brazil o/
I do have a ton of questions like this about skitching and promise you I’m going to do a video covering everything. And yeah, I’ve gotten some fucked up embarrassing skitches
Basically you want you hand the closest to the stem, and do not pedal, calculate the speed before the grab, and maybe lean a little bit to the vehicle.
I agree... When I was knee-high to a grasshopper, I skitched a friend's car down a smooth 2-mile road with no intersections... He got up a bit past 65... (I was hanging on the open drivers side window and was closely watching the early 80s Pontiac Lemans speedometer)... When I finally let go, it was like the brakes went on. I almost wiped out... I was on a first generation mountain bike (maybe 1985) so that may have something to do with the windy braking effect. I told this story to my dad one day, he said, "Crap! I did the same thing at the same speed back in the late 40's", when I was still bouncin' on my mama's lap... "When I finally let go, I thought the bike blew up"... "I woke up 10 minutes latter in a grassy ditch." A big thanks for the newer, lighter, aerodynamic bikes they make these days. (And Cameras!)
@@toby4050 Srry for ignoring 2nd part, here are the general numbers from skitching thousands of cars around the world, 90% of drivers don't notice, of the 10% that do, most cautiously ok with it, some are totally stoked, and very few get mad about it. Those are worldwide statistics. There are exceptions such as Miami where many more drivers are actually aware here because people communicate here a lot more on the roads than most other places, and pretty much every driver is psyched, on the other extreme, if you go to a sleepy suburb of NY, they'll get pissed 90% of the time. In Central America and Indonesia drivers are super psyched and actually want you to grab on and they'll speed up hellz yeah

Dude I'm new to riding, I bought my first bike since being a teen a month ago... And that took some massive balls, damn. Lol I can't even imagine doing that 😅😂
First of all, when you let go at that speed, you feel like you’re flying, no longer being attached to a car and gliding at 60MPH is a whole different feel, the bike is lighter and you’re forced to lean instead of steering the bike. Two hands on the bars at that speed is Fun. All senses are on super alert, absolute focus. As for safety there’s not much concern because you’re already exposed to the wind so it’s not like drafting at 60MPH and then exiting that where the wind feels like a brick wall and it’s scary
Crazy thing about skitching, it actually started when I was young, in the 80s in NYC and Miami it was safer to skitch than to have cars bombing by me on my BMX bike, no bike lanes, cameras, or safety back then, outright contempt and confrontation just for riding on some streets. But yeah, I turned the skitch into high speed open road vs. inner city survival
... im not even sure what to say. I guess if you grabbed my truck I'd be cool with it but I may shit my pants in the side mirror if I seen ya there doing 60
I'm from Chicago, been in Miami for two and a half years now... Normal US laws are usually applied in serious situations only, "usually" not the petty stuff... Cuban rules and regulations prevail in much of the small stuff... I love it, too! Bike and scooter delivery routinely park up on the sidewalks in Miami, try that in Boston, New York, Chicago or LA!!! Your worst enemies are the Valet folks, not the cops! You should've tried to skitch that "super cool" Cop's SUV... Just kidding, don't push the envelope.
“The van is full tourists and i dont want their attention.” Proceeds to skitch the truck in front of them.
This guy is just a legend, “yeah I just grabbed onto this truck and he’s going a (little) fast for me”
Proceeded to go 60mph
I have that exact truck. He ain't racing anyone. Lol
How often do people realize you're skitchin with their help? Lol
The truck is "waiting for the POS", who's a driver doing the right thing, waiting for pedestrians in a crosswalk, as you have to do per the law.
youre not from miami, you dont get it
Fernando Cordal No but I do and I still agree with the original comment here everybody in Miami drives like assholes

Great use of the hand signal on that flat. Very quick response.
why wouldn't he just give a turn signal?
Was the Mercedes horn or the cops? Love how you analyze driver and car before you go for the skitch , a true professional.
It was the horn from the cops, I'm 98% of the time correct about how the driver/passengers will behave
Lucas Brunelle ever had anything go wrong while Skitching?
No way would I put my trust in random drivers you must have a few cogs loose! 🤯🤪
