- Hope you like this one!
I have seen the lark soar high at morn
Heard his song up in the blue
I have heard the blackbird pipe his note
The thrush and the linnet too
But there's none of them can sing so sweet
My singing bird as you.
If I could lure my singing bird
From his own cozy nest
If I could catch my singing bird
I would warm him on my breast
For there's none of them can sing so sweet
My singing bird as you.
My singing bird as you.

An old favourite and well played here, Jim and Damian. I have neither played nor heard that one for a long time. The tremolo works well here. In your reply to Ginny you wonder about the bird in the song. The singer's hoped-for lover, the one that so far has been unattainable? I am a sucker for a good love song.
Hi John. Interesting! It is a lovely old song, the Corries and the Clancy's do a good version on youtube. :)
Thank ya
You're welcome, glad you liked it!
As an avid birdwatcher and musician, I heartily love your performance on this song. Stay warm guys and stay well.
Thanks Ginny! Good to hear from you, glad you liked the tune. We love birds too, have robins, dunnocks, wrens and blue tits in the garden. I wonder what type of bird the song is written about, maybe a goldfinch? Hope you're well, all the best from Damian&Jim
Just what I needed today after the death of yet another great rocker from CSNY, David Crosby.
What memories you have stirred by playing this one lads! I first heard it sung by Tommy Make and The Clancey Brothers when I was in my teens! More than 50 years ago!! Excellent stuff again lads, keep up the good work. I attach a link to my reference ... ruclips.net/video/M0IAkDGgRpw/видео.html Best wishes, Ed.
Hi Edmund, that's a beautiful version, it's a really haunting melody the way the Clancy's sing it. We heard Tommy Makem once at Celtic Connections, he was the support to the Dubliners, many years ago now. Best Wishes.
