What a friendly community of people you have watching your videos Lewdix, such lovely encouraging comments for Riley. It was a pleasure to meet you, the flight day will stick in all of our memories. From Riley's family 😊
My people are the best, that's for definite! Thank you for choosing me to welcome Riley to the sky. It was a pleasure to be a part of and you must be very proud of that boy!
I couldn't stop smiling through this whole video. "Rule Britannia!" Lol, had me dieing. Salute to the future aviator too! Great job with his first time at the controls! I'm impressed!
This young man is very lucky to have an instructor such as you. You explain things to him in a very calm way that will keep him interested and wanting to come back for more. It is nice to see more young men and women interested in taking up flying.
Thank you mate! I've learned to tailor my instruction methods for different types of students over the years and I'm glad I was able to help someone as young as Riley on this flight. I appreciate your comment!
Well done Riley! You seem to take everything in stride. Great quality for a pilot. I'm 55 and just soloed last week, so if you love flying, being able to start at 10 yrs old is a great opportunity to have a long life in aviation!! No regrets my friend!!
Never thought I'd be living vicariously through a 10 year old, but here we are! What a lucky lad - You did fantastic Riley! As a fellow Simmer it's nice to see that the experience does cross over. Amazing video once again Lew!
Wow- excellent job both of you aviators. Riley is a natural. What I noticed that really impressed me about Riley's flying is how he is looking outside to the left to get a sense of the angle of the plane's flight path on takeoff. As he is pulling back, he looks outside, to the left and sees he needs to now push forward a bit so his plane isn't angled too high on take off. (He can't really see over the plane's console- not quite tall enough, yet). WOW!! he's got a sight picture that works for him. Then he's got a stern controller yelling at someone who is not responding, next a bird is flying in front of the plane...and lots of background chatter that really doesn't stop him from doing the most important task- fly the plane first!!! Great job, Lew....and terrific job Riley!!!! You're a natural educator sir, and you've got a great co-captain:)
What a fantastic job Riley did on his discovery flight. He is a natural, and so relaxed. I have always wanted to learn how to fly. Watching this has tweaked my interest again. Need to get a lesson from the best (Lewis). Thanks, Lew & Riley.
Very well done mate. I am pretty sure that BOTH of you have parents that are super peoud of you both. Our society needs more people like both of you and i am happy i can be a part of your journeys. Well done LewDix. Well done indeed.
This was a great video! I'm both completely impressed with Riley's composure and piloting knowledge, as well as, your calm cool demeanor in the instruction! You did an excellent job of pumping him up and keeping the situation light and fun! Riley really did an amazing job flying that plane and having fun! I just hit the subscribe button and can't wait to see more videos!
@@LewDixAviation My 14 year old daughter is going on her discovery flight in two days! We have been watching a lot of great videos and I plan to show her this one tonight!
So I have seen many people who did not figure out the trim as fast as Riley did. Not just the trim up but he instinctively understood how to trim the airplane for a decent. Well done Riley! Keep flying.
Great work Riley. Love that you have such a light touch on the controls and such great composure. You got a gift kid…I’m sure you’ll do great in whatever you choose for your future. Certainly would make an awesome pilot!
Great job, Riley! You remind me of my son Spencer when he was 10! Spencer got his PPL when he was a teenager. He then went on to the US Air Force Academy. He decided to study computer science there, graduated, and will be a rank of Captain next month! As for LewDix, well, he’s an ok instructor. Any discovery flight you can walk away from is a good one. “Welcome to the ground!,” with LewDix I always say!
Lou D - you are the man! Had I had an instructor as patient as you at 18, I’d be a much better pilot. Riley, you da man too! Great job turning and power off glide. I had the flying bug at 13, saved all my money to fly at 18. You have a 3 year head start. Congrats on your first PIC flight.
Awesome job Riley, you'll make a great pilot! I was 12 when I took my first flight in an airplane. More than 40 years later I'm about to do my 150 mile solo cross-country flight towards my private pilot's license and the thrill of flying has remained with me through all the years. All the best.
Amazing video Lewis! It’s so funny because I had my discovery flight last Tuesday and my instructor said “Welcome to the sky” once he let me takeoff and I asked him if he watched Lewdix Aviation and we had a blast the entire flight. He watches you and I can see the way he instructed was similar to your style. I have my first lesson this friday! Thank you for making these videos.
20:46 “Like a paper aero plane”…… Do you know how many news reporters don’t understand that concept? This kid is bang on with his understanding of basic flight. Riley, I hope you keep on this track. If I knew at your age what you do, I’d be as set as a bug in a rug. “That big beautiful open field?”…… I once asked my dad when I was about 6 “what are you looking for”… his response, “the scene of the crash.” He was looking for those big open fields that you saw. It took me years… years…. to understand what he meant.
Outstanding Lewis! I always learn something from your videos as a CFI....Not to mention I stole your clear prop cadence and have to do it in proper english accent.😄 That always get a laugh from students....
Wow, well done Riley! Unlike the rest of us on our first flight, he had a relaxed grip on the yoke and had an intuitive sense of how an airplane responds. He looked like an old pro with the trim!
I remember my discovery flight when I was 11; was just a sightseeing flight but very much a special flight nonetheless. The instructor is certainly a vital part of flight training, and you seem like the perfect one!
I keep screaming here in my director's chair..."Can Riley see over the cowling?" This might be the reason he's looking out his window a lot. He's a wonderful kid and so are you...LEW.
I was the same age as Riley when I first flew with my dad in Cherokee 140 from Blackbushe in England. Dad used to let me read the check list and take the controls. I became a useful crew member able to understand the radio, check the checklist and look out for traffic. Later I learnt to fly myself and did fly with my dad with both of us being PPL holders. Happy Memories. Sadly my dad has long since past away and I had to stop flying to raise a family. My work has included working in aviation still sometimes sees me working with aircraft, big and small. Work I have been able to do due to experience starting with those first flights with Dad 46 years ago. Good flying Riley. Lewis, you did ok too.
What an amazing video! Riley will do so well as a pilot in the future, and I hope he goes on to gain his licence! If he hasn't already got his sights on it, he should definitely consider joining the Air Cadets in the UK when he turns 13 as he'll manage to get loads of flying experience there! Great job Riley!
Excellent job young Riley! I was 10 when I took my first flight (also a sky boat 172). Don't wait 40 years to fulfill your aviation dream like I have. If you love it, chase the dream. Cheers!
Riley was awesome! I have a feeling this isn't the last we'll hear of him. Whatever he ends up doing, I'm sure he'll be great at it and we'll be seeing him in news of some great discovery, invention, achievement, or something of the sort!
Haha - can I use the trim ? What a guy 👏🏼😌👏🏼😌👏🏼 He figured out trim way quicker than me lol Another brilliant video Lew, and what a lovely boy Riley is.. Hopefully he goes for it. Keep up the good work Lew, and as a proud Englishman, I did love the rule Britannia bit 🇬🇧 Scotty
Great Flying Riley! The Only thing I saw out of Place, was not buckling Up Your Shoulders. Unless there are exceptions. But Other than that, the flight was Fantastic. It's like watching a Disney Movie about a young 10 year old detective on a mission! Lol. Hope you have a bright future in flying even if you just do it with a simulator. I don't in real life, but I do keep it up in the simulator. Terry
Riley, you are a natural, my friend. So calm and cool during the entire flight. Keep up the good work. You will go far in life. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to do for your career.
Riley is a natural pilot, even his use of trim was almost intuitive which is amazing for one so young. But congrats to you too for the lack of bleeps needed on the audio, if you get my drift!!🤣
I'm so glad this kid got up in the air with YOU! You have done an amazing job in being sensible about his confidence level, there could be no better right-seater for him, that's for sure!!
No… thank YOU for letting me fly and record! I had an amazing time… 😊
Awesome dude! Future aviator :)
Great job man did better then me on my Intro and ur 10!
@@s1ipzys661 thanks a lot 😁

What a polite and smart young man Riley is. I wish you well in whatever you decide to do when you get older.
I like how you treated Riley maturely. He did a great job.
Nice going Riley! Excellent job LewDix!
I wish I lived in florida... I'd take lessons from Lew any day
I was about 10 when my dad started teaching me in his 172. I learned things I remembered when I finally went back in my 30’s to get my license.
It is always good to start young. God bless this young man on his aviation journey. I tip my hat.
This young man is very lucky to have an instructor such as you. You explain things to him in a very calm way that will keep him interested and wanting to come back for more. It is nice to see more young men and women interested in taking up flying.

That is the most mature 10 year old I have ever seen. He would make a great pilot one day. Great video as always!
Yup Ive head KISM tower yell at people a few times going into there, sounds like the same tower guy. Great job with young Riley!!
Must be a consistent stream of pilots messing up in KISM. Doesn’t speak well of the flight schools down there.
For a 10 year old boy he doing really well good job Riley your a pro bet he could land this with two or three flying lesson. Great job mate
"..even if the wings are in the wrong position." Yes!! Someone who agrees with me! Keep up the great work, Lewis! 👍👍👍👍😂
I’ve been telling the truth about Cessna for years!
Great job Riley!!!
you both killed it, but Riley stole the show. Go far in life young man whatever path you choose. Great natural ability.

Riley that was absolutely brilliant. Another future pilot
Well done Riley!
Wow! Reily's a born pilot, at 10 he just takes it all in and does it better most people with licences (myself included)🤣 fair play is all I can say
Damn it. I'm on like 75 hours and he's trimming and altitude holding better than me 😂
Nice job Riley!
Incredibly well done, almost nobody at his age can be able to say they can succesfully fly an aircraft. 👏👏
Dude the smile on his face when he initially rotated sums it all up!
Absolutely! No better feeling.
Great job by Riley and his instructor. Shows how a sim can make one feel comfortable IRL.
Why did i really like his paper airplane example and have never thought of that.... Will forever use it with my students now.
Awesome job Riley.
I think you've just inspired a lot of people of all ages.
Well done.
Probably one of the best videos ever made. Thanks for being an Ambassador. Love this community.
