    Great video for a perfect spike moss care
    Mam my spike moss was doing great in rainy season God knows why I hard pruned it now it's looking sad from couple of months what should I do to perkup it's growth is terrarium is the answer

      alis shaikh, Glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. That is too bad that you hard pruned the moss. That can cause plants to go into shock. At this point, a terrarium would be a good idea, as the spike moss do like it very moist. Since you are in your dry season, I would suggest it.

    Love that plant 🌱. Could you please do a video on what to look for in a online nursery. I live in a very rural area with no real type of garden center nearby and I’m always hesitant to other when I can’t physically see what I’m buying.

    sorry for the noob question but what is pinching back? is pinching pruning off the leaves?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  Год назад +1

      Mohamed Zuraidi, Good question! You are right. Pinching is pruning off leaves. It often refers to pruning with your fingers, rather than pruners. Here is a video on pinching back: ruclips.net/video/1bQJ9dXo4wU/видео.html

    Is there any way to bring one back from complete detriment? Ie: air too dry and let dry out too much ?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 года назад

      Boudoir Adrienne, If there is still some green, you might be able to bring it back by watering properly and not letting it dry out again. But if it is all brown, it's too late. If you do have some green, you'll have to give it some time to see if it will spring back.

    I've had an issue keeping these alive. Average 50% humidity, near a south window, Zone 10. Any suggestions? Light drops off pretty quick in my house so if it's not by the window then it's low light.

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 года назад +2

      SlalomOrDie, I would suggest putting them in a terrarium for best results. They thrive in high humidity. You could put the terrarium next to the window for the light. In this video on growing ferns indoors, you will see a spike moss in a terrarium, and how happy it is: ruclips.net/video/qe9BHhAW4a8/видео.html

    Hey it's Ali's again your previous reply did help me save my SYLLEGNELLA SPIKE MOss. But now I'm facing some other difficulty with my beloved plant, it's growing larger leaf but the stem is weak that breaks easily and I ve kept my plant to shady location as climate of that area is humid and moist. Im scared of pruning and pinching so that it doesn't goes into shock as in my earlier Querrey. What should I do?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 года назад +2

      Alis Shaikh, I'm glad to hear that you're spike moss was saved. If the stem is very weak and breaks easily, you'll want to gently add stakes and secure the stem to the stake before doing some pinching and pruning. This will keep the plant secured in the soil. As I often mention, remove no more than 1/3 of the plant when prining or pinching at one time.

    can they be grown from cuttings?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 года назад +1

      l0united, They can be grown from cuttings, yes. Not in water, but you propagate the leaves by laying them flat on the soil surface. I am going to be doing a propagation series coming up that will show how to do it.

    Can those plants endure tap water or water from a water bar/water dispenser? I do have distilled water but making distilled water at home isn't always easy when you have so many plants at the first place

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  Год назад +2

      Spike moss generally does okay with tap water, if it isn't too high in minerals. Is the water dispenser filtered water/RO? That would be even better. Whichever you use, just make sure the water is room temp or warm, not cold.

    • @sxdism
      @sxdism Год назад

      @@HealthyHouseplants yes it is indeed filtered, thank you. I'm glad I could take care of my moss better.
