I never liked dogs. However when I was in hospital, the head nurse brought her golden retriever to the hospital. His name was Oscar & he became one of my best friends! Such a wonderful soul!

Golden Retrievers are basically just the words "I LOVE YOU ALL SOOOOOO MUCH" manifested into physical form.

The problem with golden retrievers is that they’ll basically hold the flashlight for the guy burglarizing your house. “OK, you can come in, but just don’t wake my mom up. She’ll get really mad. 🐶”
i dont own dogs for security i own them to have a cute companion ask for belly rubs 24/7
Same as @joshuaromero2259 said. Not everyone wants a guard dog especially if you have new people in and out of the house.

There’s a difference between aggressive and over-exuberant. I’ve never seen aggression at all in a golden, not once. But I’ve seen them jump on people, knock them down, basically maul them being overly excited. They are big, energetic and do need to be trained.
@@anitas5817 I remember some incidents with golden retriever when they became so popular. But they happened because the owner didn't care about responsible dog ownership.
As a golden retriever owner, I can confirm that the only downside to getting a goldie is that they will absolutely whip you in the head when you are trying to tie your shoes in the morning.
They're also great athletes too! They love going on hike and swimming. Great for active people.
Yeah... Tell that my golden retriever, she is scared when the water is to deep for her to stand. And if there are waves, its game over.
We we're wandering through the watt when it was ebb and we came back when it was flood, so she had to swim.... The scratches all over my body still hurt when i think about that.
Not so much my sister's golden retriever, he's so lazy, a game of fetch turns into a stagnant game of catch. And that's when he's in the mood for it. If you have to ask he's perfectly naturally and healthy at least a couple pounds above average.

Bro he's not lying one bit. I have a 6 month old golden retriever and seriously every bone in her body just wants to please us. I've seen a lot of dogs in my life. Never have a met a dog so good with kids. She snuggles them, follows them around, plays with them, not a growl, not an uncomfortable face ever! She just loves it all, I have very young kids so they are still learning how to correctly act around animals, even when they get rowdy she handles it great. I highly recommend for a family dog.
He's so cute!! A Golden's attitude of "you're my friend, you just don't know it yet" 😁 can backfire; my friend's GR tried to make friends with a wild coyote & her Bernese Mountain Dog big brother had to swoop in & rescue her.
I'd love to see a video on Labradors that also explains the difference between the show lines and the field lines.

A friend of mine had a golden retriever that died 😢 and I remember he was such a good dog
Love👏this👏channel!! So many people need to hear the honesty this channel brings about owning a dog.
Just remember they still need exercise and to be socialized. Although they are less prone to reactivity then some dogs, they can still turn reactive,if not given the proper care, any dog can. So please make sure before you get a dog that you can provide proper care. Your fur baby is your literal child, if you wouldn't leave you two year old alone for 2 hours please don't leave your 6 month old puppy. And always make sure that you're getting the right dog for you and your family!

Dogs are not humans.. Dogs are great! I love mine like family. But why do people feel the need to act like they're human?
You can definitely leave a 6 month old puppy alone for 2 hours. Stop it!
@@Thegoldenchild415I'm just saying don't leave alone in your house( puppies normally naturally have separation anxiety, if you leave it alone free in the house you probably won't have a couch when you get back) use a crate if you're going to leave it alone.

@@mutts4life maybe I've been lucky. But I've started training my puppies very early. None of my dogs have ever had separation anxiety.
If we are honest, most of the time they're sleeping anyway. Crate train them and it's golden. 😊
@@Thegoldenchild415 I leave my Golden Doodle home from church every week and she does fine. Usually she is asleep and I take her with me for Sunday Dinner 😊
I honestly think most dog-related heartache/headache would be avoided if more people just got Golden Retrievers, rather than bully breeds or other dogs they can't handle.
Or understand the breed. Got a hunting breed and owners wonder why they run off. You need to know what the dog is hardwired for. Personal example, my Cane Corso, guardian breed. Won't go too far from me.

A golden attacked my dog..so I don't trust them. Pitbulls on average score better than goldens on temperament test. ALL dogs can attack and need proper socialization. Not just pitbulls.
Every dog (and owner) needs proper training, even goldens. And there are very poorly bred goldens with health problems and bred aggression. I know… we had one and had to give her back to the breeder after 3 months because she was an absolute untrainable, unhealthy monster. 🫠

The only downside of a Golden Ret is that, the grooming ain't easy

A neighbor I used to live by had two. First interaction was coming home the morning after a party, they were outside and ran up to me so excited to meet someone new
My first and only dog was a golden . I had her for 18 years , took her everywhere and never a problem. Except when it came to a tennis or racquet ball , she was obsessed with only those two balls . A baseball, softball, golf ball , any other ball , forget it . I couldn't hide them , I could put a tennis ball in my attic and she sit in the hallway , looking up at the crawl space, and bark .
they also have the most boopable snouts so they are the best :]
I love the way their eyes look squinty from the side.
My parents tried to get us a golden a couple times, but the place was unwilling to help.
We ended up with shelter dogs and a pure bred yellow lab that we rescued from hunger and if I went back in time I would choose them every time :)

For anyone considering getting a Golden Retriever, if you're looking at the negatives that are sometimes alluded to, I assure you that their positives outweigh these negatives, to an exponential level. In fact, if you listed every single bad trait that any canine has, or has had throughout history, the positives still more than cancel out the negatives. Basically what I'm trying to say is, their positives are so overwhelming high that there simply aren't enough negatives to overcome them. They're the greatest pets in the multiverse, and everyone should own at least two.
Just saw a short with one these attacking a smaller dog...I couldn't believe it. My dad had one a few years back(RIP Sam)... gentlest dog ever

The tail one is so real! They're very muscular and usually love everything that moves, breathes or exists... so they spend the day in tail wiggling mode 😅 it's adorable 🥰

They need a friend. I don't know if it's true but every golden that has another golden to keep itself active when the human(s) is busy is a happier boy/girl than those without. A cat or a dog of a different breed works too but they need company (and another golden (or 2) works perfectly).
So my grandpa ACCIDENTLY trained his golden boy to give you a hug when you get your arms out, so cute

Alas, my allergies can’t handle it. But all is well! I have a GoldenDoodle. She’s the best
Yeah Energy is the watch word. You keep them in good shape and their energy and puppy like nature never ends. I have a 5 year old male and a 2 year old female. I have my disabled brother watch them and they demand to go out 4 to 5 times a day for up to 2 hours at a time. They also go swimming almost every time they go outside which can lead to smelly yeast infections in their fur and once we even had a pair of hot spots on his cheeks. So keep them dry when not in the pool.

I only had a few dogs in my life but my very first was our family dog when I was a child and we named him Simba. 😊 He was a beautiful golden retriever and he was very popular in our street, many dogs would follow his lead.. they are very kind and loyal!

I totally agree! My Berner was 140 pounds (he was huge, but not overweight) of pure joy! He loved all animals and people with one exception, my ex. 😂

As someone who has a golden, if you are going to get them is a puppy you need to be aware that they're kind of a velociraptor for 2 years. Absolutely worth it though.

I have a Golden boy named Tucker. We adopted him at 10 weeks old and he turned 8 in May. He’s the best family dog. Before getting a Golden, be prepared for 24/7 shedding, constant grooming to maintain overcoat and undercoat. Long hairy grinch paws and paw pads and nail trim that need grooming for balance and walking. Skin allergies and sensitivity from long hairy coat. I’ve spent many $ at the Vet on allergy medicine and sometimes allergies that turn into skin infections which require antibiotics and steroids. My boy is very social. We go for daily walks to get his energy out and keep him active to prevent hip problems as he ages. He is a gentle giant (at a whopping 102 lbs) with all kids of any age. Some Goldens are in the x-large category because of their bone structure. On a rainy day I have toys for him to destroy. My boy loves swimming, snow, and rolling in dirt/mud. He’s so silly and we love him to death!! 😄

My favourite dogs to keep as family pets are rescued strays, who also happen to almost always be mutts. They're highly intelligent and their sense of gratitude for being picked up makes them really easy to train and make excellent guardians. They're just eager to please so they take the training like champs ❤
