9:45 Lindbergh with Admiral Joseph M. Reeves. This is a very rare shot of the admiral who was a founder of U.S. Naval carrier tactics. His flagship was the experimental carrier USS Langley-his old ship, Jupiter, modified for aviation operations. The wooden flight-deck was installed over the Langley's existing deck structures, giving the vessel the nickname of "Covered Wagon." While in this command, Reeves worked hard to develop carrier aviation tactics, seeking to increase sortie rates and the use of dive-bombing. He proved these concepts by the success of his pilots and aircrew during the Navy's annual fleet exercises (known as "Fleet Problems")
The USS Akron was one of the first flying aircraft carriers, but due to the limitations of 1930s technology, both where lost because they could not handle bad weather if I remember correctly, however, the US military had tried to experiment with putting mini-jets on an Boeing 747 jumbo jet in the 1970s but due to enemy aircraft getting bigger, faster and more deadly, the mini jets carried by the Boeing 747 where too small and outdated, thus the idea was scrapped I am not sure if you have watched it, but if u have not, here is a video about the Boeing 747 Aircraft carrier: ruclips.net/video/drnxZlS9gyw/видео.html lastly, I heard the US Military is trying to research and build Airborne Drone Carriers which could replace the supercarriers in the far future
Felix the Cat(VFA-31バッジマーク)に歴史あり・・。
Come sempre, video dettagliato e estremamente interessante.
Grazie di cuore.

I didn't know Admiral Joseph M. Reeves. I don't know much about US Navy history, so I learned a lot.
