So the issue is not that you counted the king as a book but that you opened a suit when you only have a king . You should have kept playing diamonds and let somone else be the first to play a club or heart. It’s very possible that the person with the ace might win a hand then play their ace next. You just need to give them that opportunity.

You are absolutely F'n right!!! I will add this as new strategy. Im so quick to pull the Aces out instead of allowing the Ace's to come out.
