Triggerines & Sentimentos explores the enduring allure of small figurines, from the ancient "Venus of Willendorf" to modern-day pop culture icons. Gosney's work delves into the sentimental and often kitschy statuettes that once adorned the mantlepieces and wall units of generations, reflecting deep-seated attitudes and affections. His exhibition aims to re-contextualise these familiar figures, updating them to reflect contemporary sensibilities while retaining their original charm and function.
Gosney's artistic process involves recycling and renewing figurines found in dumpsters, charity stores, and jumble sales. By incorporating discarded figures from comics, advertising, and even Disney, he offers new interpretations of old dialogues, reinventing icons of the past in today's vastly different world.
Gosney's art breathes new life into discarded statuettes, transforming forgotten icons from pop culture, history and everyday life into thought-provoking pieces.
