  • Concord Mall is a brilliant specimen of the 90s, with roots going back to the late 60s. Come join me for our first, and so far only, adventure into Delaware.

For those asking about the old Burger King:
If you want to see it preserved into the future, it'll require some aspiring entrepreneurship. If you are looking to start your own business, like a burger & fry joint, that would be a good place to do it after some simple cleanup. Maybe a bit of paint, but you can still make it look cool.
Otherwise, that place will likely get knocked out for something else, or worse, vandalized & destroyed.

That's too bad the second floor never came to fruition, but still a nice looking mall for sure. Those royal-blue skylights at night definitely give off vibes.

I loved the mall tour, thanks Doomie! The first mall I ever went to was the Tarrytown Mall, in Rocky Mount, NC way back in probably 1966 when I was in Elementary School. My family once had a family reunion in the mall. Artwork we did in school was displayed in the mall, my school put on a Christmas Chorus performance at the mall by the big Christmas tree. My father moonlighted at the mall as a mall cop second job. I remember when they had a big tank and a dolphin show in the mall. I also think Buddy Rick performed there and Soupy Sales did a show there. My girl scout troop sold cookies there and held a raffle. That was a very community oriented mall, a lot of activities that in past years would've taken place downtown moved to the mall. After we moved from NC, we moved about every 2 years due to my father's government job, I'd become a fan of whichever mall was closest to our home. I really don't have a favorite decade of mall decor. I remember enjoying all of the malls I hung out in and visited very fondly. Some no longer exist at all, others are standing dead, the ones that do remain are sadly rapidly dying. I'm in my 60s now, malls played a huge part in my life. My first jobs were in malls, my son's first job was in a mall. When I met and was dating my husband (now ex) we used to visit the North Hanover Mall in Hanover PA because it was the closest mall to his Northern Baltimore County home. We'd go out to eat in Hanover or go to the movies in town then stop at the mall. When we were first married we used to eat at Bay City in the mall then shop. We did all of our holiday shopping for family there until Cranberry Mall in Westminster Mall was built. After that we visited whichever mall we knew had what we wanted. I read that last week there was a fire at the North Hanover Mall. It made me sad because that'll probably spell the end for that poor, barely hanging on mall. I have so many good memories from within the time worn walls of that old mall. When my family had first moved to Maryland we visited the North Hanover Mall while my parents were exploring Hanover and my sister and I, neither old enough to drive still going places with mom and dad, pestered my dad for money to see the frozen bigfoot they had on display in one of the small tgen vacant stores in the mall. It had supposedly been shot and frozen or found in a lake, I forget. That was one of the more strange mall experiences. I wish so many of the malls I've loved to visit over the decades weren't gone, nothing left of them but memories. I wish the few that remain weren't dying. It's sad, it makes me feel sad and nostalgic, makes me long for days long past,, it makes me feel old..
Shopping at Walmart, Target or Amazon or anyplace else online really isn't as much fun, it isn't an outing and it isn't as appealing or fulfilling as a visit to a vibrant active mall used to be.

The central fountain and 4-faced clock tower, in my opinion, is one of the best mall centerpieces I think I've ever seen. For such an average-sized mall it sure looks elegant for its time.

Good video DG. Looks breathtaking at night. I liked it when you referred to 2020 as IT instead of Fauci Syndrome but other than that an excellent video nonetheless. I like how you go to malls nobody else really notices.

i really do like this mall. outside the vacancies it looks like it has a great environment to it everything from the blue light in the skylights & how well lit the halls are & i love the seating area by key jewelers & the doll sitting in with the plants outside of sears. plus i love the glass overhang on the outside entrance of boscov's. i would love to visit this place around christmas time to see how well it is decorated

Nice looking mall but I am seeing a lot of empty stores and we can't blame this on walker's hour. It cracks me up that they have that empty Sears lit up like it is still open?

Most as you know, just get dry walled over and to never be seen again. One mall near me sold off that part of the mall to a medical rehab place which is part of an university. The nearest mall to my house is just a empty shell on the outside and probably the inside.too. The rest of the mall still seems to be doing okay, but with a JC Penny and Macy's, closures could strike at anytime. When I was a teen, both malls were busy, busy, busy....Parking during the holidays was hard to find, not anymore. Where did all the shopper go? One thing is just a mile away is a huge Amazon warehouse and next to that a Amazon distribution center.

I can remember in 5th grade when there was talk about the Concord Mall being built. Later I met the Vanilla Fudge at the Singer Sewing Machine store. They were playing nearby Mt. Pleasant High School. I use to live at the Record Museum where you could even buy bootleg records back in the day. Had breakfast with Andrew Gold, David Lindley, and Jackson Browne at the Harvest House, next to Woolworth's 5 and 10.

Great video man. This video alone just shows how even Namdar‘s higher performing malls are struggling in ways. Just proves how crappy of a company Namdar is. Other than that this mall is very nice aesthetically.

They didn't leave their decorations up, they put up their Christmas decorations early 😂.
This was a pretty cool explore. With all of the roof leaks, this place is in big trouble. The interior is going to rot to the point of being structurally unsafe without roof repairs.

Malls need to make a come back in my opinion. I think that the traditional idea of a mall being one that is mostly stores with a big hallway connecting them. Really people need something more these days. I remember seeing a India youtube influencer area where they had sections for people to film for their channel. Part of me thinks something like that or how starbucks is common for people on laptops. We need to see more reasons to hang out and remain at a mall, rather then just options to spend money and quickly leave.. I always thought malls with movie theaters were cool. What if those were the first showing of movies then theaters then buying the movies physical copy. I mean there are tons of ideas to revitalize malls across america. Sell me an experience, not just products.

You got some great advice from Raw and Real Retail. This mall is pretty nice at night. From the looks of it, Boscov's has the mirror and neon 1980's look. The Macy's setup overlooking the mall is pretty cool, I have been to at least one department store that had a view of the mall from the second story.

What a nice looking mall! I've only been to the other Concord Mall(Elkhart, IN), but would love to see the other Concord Mall one day!
Too bad Namdar bought this mall, though. I worry that'll hasten the decline of this mall, but at least for now it looks like it's teneted with stores pretty well. H&M is even still there and(thankfully as of April 2022) hasn't bailed, which is nice.

Namdar doesn't revitalize malls. They use them for tax writeoffs before flipping them once the property values rise in an area.
