"Systems are obsolete." I very much agree. Story is the entire thing. System is merely a storytelling framework.

Great video, as usual. As someone recently bitten by the Symbaroum bug, I cannot wait for the next videos!

I had a hard time trying to find a good video that gives a solid synopsis of the game. This is the first video I've found to do that in under 20 min. Thanks!

Rewatching this as I prep for running material from the Starter Set this week, I'm really enjoying the work you put into these videos. I'd really like to hear more about Symbaroum. I have a specific interest in hearing about the Copper Crown trilogy before the Throne of Thorns campaign since that seems like what I'd go into after the Starter Set.
All in all, thank you for these videos!

Well as long as this content keeps coming, I'm interested. I truly love the lore and material of Symbaroum, it is a gem of a TTRPG that deserves to be celebrated.

New to the world but I do love it so far. I would love to delve into the adventures in the future since they just concluded their huge series Throne of Thorns . Hoping to find the time to do it in the near future.

Symbaroum sounds thematically compatible with game of thrones and it seems like there’s good opportunity to barrow or adapt certain elements to the setting. the ordo magica is similar to the maesters, prios isnt too far off from rhllor, and the ambian war with the undead forces of darkness similar to the white walker invasion of westeros.

Great video. I recently picked up all the core books for Ruins of Symbaroum and your video planted lots of seeds in my brain for adventures. Amazing world!

Aah, Symbaroum... I started Game Mastering this game a little over a year ago, and it was my "first" time GMing properly. The world is awesome, but the books they make are awful at helping you make adventures if you want to be careful about breaking the lore. There is tidbits in 5 different books on a certain topic, and almost impossible to remember where you read something, because there is not exactly a wiki or anything similar to help, and even the creator himself knows this fact (from an interview with him).
I would love to get inspiration from the world as this video re-lit a bit of interest in it, especially for things I am awful at, politics and faction-wars.

It is too early to have an opinion for their adventures, just started delving into them but I hear what you say and it might be a pit fall if that is the case. I do hate having to go to x books to find one specific info and that is the reason I made this channel, making it easy for people to run games. I really hope there will have some decent online srd down the road, it does help tremendously. Or wait to have a local ChatGPT to feed it all the pdfs and just ask it where is Queen Korinthia Now!!??!? I am glad that the video started a small spark for the world!

I definitely agree with your statement that systems do not matter. Yes, many prefer certain systems but at the end of the day they are just random number generators and math. I have argued with a friend the D&D isn't D&D because of the mechanics but its the lore and the stories that can be told. He firmly believes that if you aren't using D&D mechanics it's not D&D. Sigh, I firmly believe you can play D&D with any system. Like Fate, GURPS, M&M, Savage Worlds, BRP, etc. I prefer to use a fun system and add fun mechanics. I absolutely hate spell slots so much that I have stopped playing D&D 5E and will convert the Monsters and other Lore related info to another system. To me this is much more enjoyable than dealing with a mechanic I hate. Thanks for the video. I just got Symbaroum and wanted to get caught up on the lore.

If you are looking for something similar, check out Shadows of Esteren!
Also, please proceed with a breakdown of the adventures for Symbaroum! The plan is to run them at some point!

it is a cool setting, but without novels/comics/cartoons made to diffuse the lore and give it life, it is just another generic dark fantasy game. Look at what GW has done with Warhammer Old world and 40K, hundreds of novels to create a universe. Games like Symbaroum are nice, but wont last.

Your expectations guarantee the failure of any and all new settings. It's also part of the usual gate keeping that has staggered the hobby for so long.
Alas, its your fair opinion and you're entitled to it. Cheers.
