  • Vallee de Mai is the green heart of Praslin Island and one of the smallest and most valuable natural UNESCO World Heritage sites. Why? Because it’s the largest intact forest of the endemic coco de mer palm, a giant prehistoric tree. Today, the Seychelles islands of Praslin and Curieuse are home to the only two remaining wild populations of these rare palms. Here, in Vallee de Mai, there are three hiking trails that lead through this primeval forest, home of thousands of huge palm trees with some amazing monstrous leaves. The fruits of these giants are the symbol of Seychelles. The famous coco de mer is the largest and the heaviest seed in the plant kingdom. This amazing nut is also known for its erotic shape that has served as fertile soil for some juicy stories & legends. Nicknamed the "Love Nut", in local Creole dialect they are known as "coco fesse" or the "bum nut". Don't miss this spot!
