Hi Age of Vintage, how are you going? Another fabulous story about Clark Gable & Loretta Young. When Loretta became pregnant with Clark's child , her family were quite displeased as they were Catholic & there was never any choice of abortion in those days. Number one it was against the law back then & number 2 her mother was a strict Catholic & it was strictly forbidden in they're religion. They had it all planned out, she was going to be sent abroad, have the child , & then tell everyone she was adopting her. She did seem to keep her head above water as she flitted between men & married them, & then cast them aside when she saw someone bigger & better to help further her career. I am just saying Clark sr.. may not have known of his daughter as she never knew of him as her father... I assume had he known... I feel he' d have done what was needed to be done... the mother(Loretta) and her family were great on making a story of her being adopted etc as she never wanted to loose her career... and maybe she was not wanting to ruin that of Clark's career by announcing he had a child.. by affair.. while married to someone else.... I feel the mother made all these choices on her own.. with her family. It's also sad he was not able to meet his son which he was aware I feel... Clark Gable was the one who lost the most.
Yes, we will never know, how Clark felt about this situation. Sometimes easy to judge someone else's acts from the outside, but we will never see the whole picture!
@@AgeOfVintage So true. And it was during the depression years. Standards were very different, and the double standard for a man and woman greater than today. Performers were practically owned by the studios. Date rape was not acknowledged. Sad situation all around.
The men had free reign because a woman could not say no....or say yes. If she hadn’t had her own sleeping place, she might have been saved the whole sordid I thing.
You need to research what everyone on the set of "Call of the Wild" said. Loretta did not have to rush to Clark's room/bed every spare moment off the set. She went after him and Judy said when she watched the movie she could see the love for each other in their eyes. Judy was NO goody two shoes----far from it.
I was working the gate the night his daughter Judy Lewis passed away in Palm Springs. She was always very friendly when she came through.

Clark Cable's Grandson, Clark, is the host on a series called "Cheaters" & Clark looks like his Grandfather. Sadly, he died from an overdose.
