I was involved in doing some production work with Beacon Radio back in the day. Nice to hear the name again! My friend (programme researcher) and I thought this album was going to lead to something and thought Dave Tregunna was a cracking bass player. We both became massive fans of Lords of the New Church.
I've known about this album since it's release and it's still one of my favorites. I wish people had believed Stiv and done something about the world back then, we might not be in the "pickle" that we are in now. But then that was what "Punk" was all about. Thanks for posting it.
This is actually Sham 69's 5th album! Problem was Jimmy Pursey had the rights to the Sham moniker- hence, "The Wanderers". After this the Wanderers called-it-quits. The Lords of the New Church were formed out of the ashes...
Oh my God - this is an amazing punk rock that touches on George Orwell"s 1984. I had the good luck to see this group - Anthem For The Future. Wish Stiv had lived!!!
yeah, stiv was a TRUE punk and waaaay ahead of his time...this lp is/was a warning to what we’ve been living through over the past three years...where did you see them?!?
stiv was brilliant......got to see him with the lords,,,,miami beach way back when.....i still think of him....brian james.......saw brian with the damned in the same venue
james sanford when was this¿?? I see the in I think helendael fla. (sp) way back in 81 or so. it was a rock&roll bar and it got messy after the last song as stiv was hanging there.
I can’t believe i wasted years of my life thinking that I don’t really like punk base on sex pistols and band from my country with taste what can more less be call agro, ex communist… also if it wasn’t year 1981 I would swear I heard Adam Bomb on moment 😂it’s so amazing piece of music! Such a interesting ideas and sounds! Only thing what woul make it better (for me) would be good record player!
There's a line in Please Kill Me where Robert Quine dismisses the Ramones and The Clash in really fast order, saying something almost offhand, to paraphrase, "they didn't do anything interesting with playing," or something like that. I like the Ramones and The Clash, but I have no creative talent when it comes to music. So to hear Robert Quine just say that was a bit startling. I don't think he's right, outright. For many of Dead Boys, post-RFTT songs, it's never about decibel alone. RFTT comes right into your room and so do the Dead Boys at their best. But Robert Quine isn't wrong. Many of the chantings of Dead Boys chorus/song titles sound like Frat Party interruptions of an established song. This album isn't anything less than maybe the best thing all parties involved ever did. It's really, really good. Not all of it works. I don't think Dr. Beter is very good. That is followed by LIttle Bit Of Frightening, which is so good it's a bit hard to believe. This is just an album I want to leave after starting off about it, because it's really one worth exploring & discovering on your own. All kinds of synth silliness is awaiting you, rapid drumming against slow guitar licks, and of course Stiv, always Stiv. Bless this record. And if you don't like this album I'll (_insert_awkward_threat_here_).
Ernesto Soltero oh I'm sorry, I'm not sure why, I'm must have been drunk and not like your comment. I don't think that album is new wave. I saw him when he was with either the wanders or Lord's of new church. one of the most memorable shows I have ever seen in my life!!! this was in halendale fla.
This could be the most underrated album of all time. There are SO MANY lines throughout that can be applied to the state Amerussia and the Trump administration has got us in. Personally, I think the vocals have too much effect on them. Stiv is more articulate on most everything else he's done. So be sure to look up the lyrics to all these songs. 36 years later and The Wanderers nail it. This record has crystal BALLS!
Actually Trump is fighting the BOLSHEVIK deep state. You should maybe check out X22 Report here on RUclips sometime. Oh ye of limited vision...stop listening to globalist sponsored leftist media. China is the real enemy along with the globalists...
I would reply but I don't even know what the hell you are going on about hahaha. All I can say is he had several well-established groups coming from nowhere in Ohio. What do you have to show for yourself musically?
I won this album on a phone-in competition on Beacon Radio back in 1981. Still got it and still like it, but I don't know were the time's gone.

Such a sleeper of an album not a lot of people fuck with this album bc it’s not well known
Beyond underrated album but then again everything Stiv did was pretty cool
Love the crackling and popping vinyl! Sham 69 with Stiv upfront!
So glad this came up on my feed. Gold⚡️. Rip Stiv
This is fuckin great rock'n roll album!😎 R.I.P. Stiv!

This genuinely has the best of The Dead Boys and Lords...

Sorry but the 1st Dead Boys is largely better than this record ! For me "Young Loud & Snotty" is one of the best Punk Album of History !

ngl, I still can't get over the fact that someone decided to name their kid 'Peter Beter'
is this the inspiration for the movie title, jim jarmusch...?
They both filch the title from the 1965 Dave Wallis book about teenage overthrow, mooted back then as a film vehicle for the Rolling Stones ...
The title , the cover of the album , exactly what i recently discovered !
hes got that monkey suit from cleveland #dicksonmetalworks

Peter Beter RIP.
Talk about relevance of that song to today! Prophetic stuff!
Who was Dr. Peter Beter?
@@mr.bloodvessel260 A great man.

Punk goes new wave...

why? :)

I like punk, post-punk and new wave, besides other kinds of music. What´s the problem? If you want to cry, cry!
Zero new-wave here.

The Finker fuck you too!!!! know your history;!!
Certainly it captures the media-evangelical-paranoid vein of the the times and since then.
Dr Peter Beter knew......

“Amerussia” - Russia hasn’t been a threat for like 70 years lol
r/shitposting
nada que ver con los dead boys ni con los Lords , es una continuación ( menos brillante pero aún así genial ) de su etapa en L.A. con Disconected
Ni siquiera se parece a los discos de su época solista que son power pop puro.
Same crap no-talent Faex Mundi crap-writer who also did contemporary(-to-this) Judas Priest puppetteering work.
Would you elaborate on that notion?
And you are an asshole critic, apparently- what the fuck have you done, Pussy ???
Is that your arse you speak from Adolf ?
