I thought I had left a comment for this video. I came back to say....when I watched this video I was on the fence whether to watermark or not.
NOW....I say definitely watermark.
The reason is....I had joined a few FB groups that they say have "free" designs. Well after looking through the groups for a few days what I'm seeing is that they are taking digital images right off of Etsy and uploading them in posts in the group for everyone to share with each other and use for free. They even blatantly admit that they got the image from Google....which is the advertisement for the Etsy store. I noticed a lot of these images they were sharing were from Etsy and I think I've seen a couple of the same stores in your videos. I'm on the fence now whether I should drop a note to the original designer on Etsy and let them know.....or not say anything. If it was my design I would want to know. What would be your advice?
I think that is so unfair, if they have been taken and shared on FB groups without their consent. Personally I would definitely let them know, what's been happening. I would like to know if someone was copying and sharing my stuff. This is a good example of things to be aware of in this business. Thanks for sharing.
@@Justteachinstuff Okay thanks for your opinion...I'm going to take screenshots "collect the evidence" LOL and send it over to the Etsy store owner. It's a rather big store that I'm sure you reviewed on a video or two. I'm all into sharing to help others but stealing designs I have no tolerance for. Oh...in the FB group they even advise what app to use to clean up the low grade images they save/steal from the web....and the group has over 86,000 members. That could be slowing Etsy sales

What about mockups? Are they a proper way to have watermarks, too?
You could also use it for mockups, but personally I wouldn't recommend using it for mockups, unless the watermark is faint and doesn't spoil the design. Mockups are great to help sell your product.
