Well done review. Huawei currently has overall best quality and attention to details in the price point $200~$700, ime imo. Good to see cutting of used Japanese tatami omote too.
I’d be buying one but they don’t offer a production one in the size I want plus a one year wait now apparently. I think the fit and finish would rival or be better than the skyjiro i own. I’m curious about a new company Byzer they offer a 80cm kissaki to tsuba blade and S7 steel.
@@Aris-ig8bv if it's a custom order, prepare to wait up to a year or more. If it's not, still be prepared to wait that amount of time. 6 months at least

Good job but would like to have seen more tight shots of the details of the fittings and blade...nice cutter, did you gave to refine the edge? how sharp did it come out of box?
All the cutting in the video is with the blade out of the box. I didn't strop it. It didn't pull threads in the UJT at all, so cut cleanly as long as I didn't screw up my edge alignment. I will do a follow up video later after getting it re-wrapped, then I'll take more pics of the fittings. You can also pause the video closeup. Should be pretty sharp in 4k.
Great video! I am pleasantly surprised at the detail of the fittings. Your cuts became better near the end. I looked into Huawei after yours and Eric's recommendations and I will be ordering 2 from their stock within a few days. How long do they take to deliver stock items? Do you know? Thanks for uploading this!
Thanks... yeah I get a little better every time I cut. Like everything these days I have no idea... I got this one in just about the time the pandemic was getting into full swing. They had to send it to someone else due to shipping restrictions... so it had to be relay shipped to me. From what I understand... NOTHING is in stock really.. as they make them as ordered. I think they do have some blades that are either rejects, or extra... but still would need the rest made for those blades, etc. Or the blades need to be finished.
@@scottjua Nice. Thank you sir. I'll take a look. I have a humble 1095 wakizashi, I purchased from Northshire. And a few decent katana like object. Always been a fan and collector.
So when you asked for the slimmer tsuka, what specifically did you ask for? i think i would like to do the same if i order one, but i’m not sure what to say. also was there any extra cost with customizing it like that?
Talk to Jacky (the owner) on Ebay. Look for the user "huawei-sword". You can ask him to make the tsuka smaller like he did before, and link him this video, or a picture from the tsuka in the video. He replies back within a few days usually.
They took so long... when I did my last inquiry they just refunded me, and never answered about what was happening with the swords. So I have no idea what the deal was... sad
hey if you getting the ito rewrapped then you oughta check out my man adam novath . he does really good work on rewrapping a tsuka and it's half the price that you would pay going through cotton tails custom . and adam is good witg different styles of wrapping a tsuka . I believe he charges either 100 or 150 and its well worth the price
it just glides right through those mats . huawei makes some of the best production swords you can get

I cannot wait I just ordered a Dotanuki Higo Mokko with Black Silk, Black Sageo, and Black Ishime Saya.
Did it ever come in? How long was the wait?
Thats what I'm looking for. I learned about platings and now I'm going for laminations.
This sword would make a good accompaniment with a Huawei phone
I got a Huawai sword last year...excellent quality, a real dream come true...
hello i just bought fro huawei for the first time. when you bought it did they give you tracking number? and how long did it take to arrive

I am really liking that sword, colours and stuff too are nice
Good good good. This saber for that price is wonderful. I'm going to keep a close eye on him...
They are out of stock 😢
Do you know when they might have this particular one back in stock
No idea... I'm not regularly in touch with them by any means unfortunately
Very impressive cutting there sword friend. Nice blade!
Love that hourglass shape tsuka
18:47 nice! loved the slow motion

Handle goes along with periods and personal ergonomics
Nice. Always like hearing others experience.
I think the delrin mekugi would look great when she comes back from dude....Black on black on black...
Your reaction when cutting says it all...
@@erichusayn I thought about that. I can machine some easily, but I will wait until I get it re-wrapped.
for sure
Very cool. Nicely done. What's the story on that wakizashi? Thanks
That’s the Motohara wakizashi from my Motohara daisho. A matching set. I have a video about it here as well. Check it out... it’s an awesome waki

Did u check the wooden handle to see of there's any cracks
Yes, there were no cracks. It's a very snug fitting tsuka. No shims... perfect fitment to the nakago.

Is it spring steel ?any nick or damage
It was t10 and no issues
How did you specify the tsuka shape in your order? And was it an additional charge? Thanks Scott great video

There was no extra cost. I think my email just said to have the slimmest tsuka possible. As close to a traditional nihonto as possible.
Where is C3PO?
Good work.
Tsuka is not pronounced sooka... its pronounced Skaaaa
Are you still selling your custom jkoo sinosword?
That was sold a while back. I'm selling my Rado though
