Very good work. Staying true to the look, but with a more technical approach. It worked very well. Appreciate the work and tribute to the Golden Era gassers. Thank you all.
My first car was a 55 Belair 2dr post...same color...coral another name GM called it a few years earlier was bitter sweet...my brother drove a 56 Chevy 2 Dr post Gasser while he went to college 1 year his entire race program cost 600 dollars...our dear ole Dad built street rods... those were the real happy days...
Nice work brother! I wanted to keep my trim so I kept it below. Made my own flair with 3/8 round rod and sheetmetal. Hopefully you can keep going with this build.
The offset on the wheels and the width of the slick arent what the owner will run. The hight however is correct to what he is doing. They were just for test fitting.
Looks good doing a great job. Those after market panels do suck just like you said. I got one of those lower front quarter panels and the door jam is nothing like the original. Just used the outer skin. Keep up the good work.
Good video. My only suggestion would be to play your background music during the time lapse scenes and not play it while people are talking, as it made it harder for me to hear what you were saying. Thanks for the video.
I’ve wondered how those would look on a ‘55 Nomad. My particular car has very poorly done quarter panel patches which cover the forward 1/3rd of the wheel arch to the back side of the door jamb. The “proper fix” would be to get full quarters and cut out what we need. As I’m sure you already know a pair of full quarters would cost $2,500 and these gasser panels are $250. My Nomad was definitely somebody’s hot rod back when as the traction bars are still in place (and I’m going to keep on the car). I welcome your thoughts.
These could definitely be modified for a nomad, but im pretty partial to doing nomad quarters correctly being their wheel openings are 55 specific and one of a kind. Check out some of my other videos on patching our 55 nomad lower quarters and you may be able to do the same and salvage what you have being you want to keep yours a hotrod!
I know gassers are it right now but if it was my car I would have you guys mini tub it. To me leave perfection alone. Not my car so cool whatever the owner likes!
This is cool...and the video that brought me here was a guy using the panels as intended and it basically sat on the tire. Didn't love that look...this is going to look much better. I happen to be a Neon enthusiast, so I have to ask what's up with the SRT-4 in the background?
Glad you liked it! And ya these arches dont sit right if you dont modify them properly. And that belongs to a guy who used to work for us, but he moved to Texas. I have a black 2005 acr srt4 as well. I plan to do a video on it in the future.
@@vintagehotrods Nice. I'd love an ACR SRT4, but by now it seems like they all got owned by kids who modded the crap out of them and I'm not sure I want to have to go in after that. lol
Is that aftermarket wheel arch the same radius as a 55 gal drum ? Back in the day things like that were used along with tracing the outside diameter of the race slick.
Its always cool to see how someone else does something. Great vid, next time cut the music when your talking though, easier to hear what you are saying without that music covering your voice.. 😉

Not when you use proper weld through primer and rust prevention. This car will never see any sort if weather so it will outlive the owner. Have multiple cars on the road with 10+ years of use with no issues. There isnt just one right way to do things.
@@vintagehotrods I get that. Don’t mind the music, just hard to understand what your saying when it’s playing while you’re talking. Really enjoy your content though. Great vids!

So far, it looks pretty close to perfect. Nice job!

Hey
I like these vids ...great fabricators... amazing work going on in this shop
Lookin great yall! Dig those 55s
There's just no way I could ever thank you enough for this video. I will do mine this way!
glad it helped! good luck on yours!
You guys did a good job at transforming those pieces...I was skeptical...but you guys made it work and it will look good.
Good stuff, looking good!!
I used a set of mid 80s Volvo 240 front fenders. The radius is perfect and the contour of the panel matches the 55 quarter panel perfectly.
that's really good information to have. ill keep that in mind!
Nice work brother! I wanted to keep my trim so I kept it below. Made my own flair with 3/8 round rod and sheetmetal. Hopefully you can keep going with this build.
We have it just above the trim line. I hope to see it again in the future as well!
Well its a shame to see this one go, hopefully we will see it again sooner rather than later. Either way its been a great build series, thx!!!
thanks! We will have some more 55 gasser videos coming back soon!
Looks like the tire is inside the panel ! I personally love the side trim.
The offset on the wheels and the width of the slick arent what the owner will run. The hight however is correct to what he is doing. They were just for test fitting.
thanks for sharing this video, ill be tackling mine in the future...great work BTW
Someone has some quarter spears for a Bel-Air 😁 Thanks for the update, nice lil series. Love the 55s.

Exactly! Its only good enough for the outer. The jams were awful lol
Nice work.
Looks good man! Bummer the car is getting shelfed because of $....but most of us can relate to that.
Excellent job 👏

Im assuming i slipped up on the editing because i be sure to never do that. Definitely just an editing error on my part!

Hey I know these guys! They're great!
I know gassers are it right now but if it was my car I would have you guys mini tub it. To me leave perfection alone. Not my car so cool whatever the owner likes!
Not much on cutting up 55 Chevys. I kept mine clean and fitted big tires in the old wheel wells.
To each their own! I love them both ways.
Would like to have seen how you bent up the filler pieces
Other than that it looks great
It was so time consuming and labor intensive i ended up not filming it and im mad at my self for not doing so.

How much money and labor to restore back to stock wheel wells.
It just depends on how rough the car is. Every car is different. We normally just go off an hourly rate.
Is that aftermarket wheel arch the same radius as a 55 gal drum ?

Not sure. That is a good question. Sounds like something they would have done back then
What Fabrication???
I didn't see any, should say how to install patch panels.
You obviously didnt watch the video lol

ya that was an editing error. I had chopped the music off, but for some reason it uploaded it with full sound.
@@vintagehotrods its all good brother, Im jus old school and like the shops sounds over music...lol
NICE

Hey
What in the FUCK did that random music ADD to the video?!
It was an editing error that happened with my editing software. That was years ago.
You know it would be a whole lot better video if you would play the music during your time lapse portions and not when you're speaking
Yes it was an editing error on my part i just didnt catch it. Definitely wont happen again.
Those flanges will come back to bite you or the next owner.

I only appreciate original cars. They don't make these anymore. No offense intended
You can actually buy brand new 55 and 57 chevy bodies. And i also i love them original. Its all about what the customer wants!
4 minutes in. Please loose the groovy tunes. Great video though!
Unfortunately there isnt much i can choose from. Either no music or semi decent music lol going to get better stuff to choose from
In the near future.
