Great vid! Thanks for all the info and the patience to respond to the comments! My gateway GWTN156-1BK started to have problems with keys 5, 6, R, T, F, G and V. They're so close together in the same column that definitely looks like something broke. Opened it up, the support bar was super loose, one screw almost fully unscrewed. I guess that led to the keyboard flexing and failing.
I just saw the price for the full keyboard assembly you linked on another comment... external bt keyboard it is for now!

Thank you for the video. I have a Gateway GWTN156-7BK, it's probably not even a year old. Well, I spilled coffee on the keyboard and now there's about 5 keys that don't work. It's been dried out for a couple weeks and they still don't work. Like your video explained, you need to order the whole top to replace the keyboard. Removing the bad key(s) and cleaning the plastic parts underneath of them didn't do the trick. Old laptop keyboards were removable but not this one. I spoke with Gateway and they want me to ship it to them for repair and a coffee spill is not covered under warranty. The '3' key sometimes goes wild and continually types '3' with no way to stop it. I've been told Ctrl-Alt-L will lock the keyboard but you have to press those keys at just the right time upon booting up, it's only worked for me once. I do still use the laptop because I have an external keyboard plugged into the USB port. Bottom Line: I guess I just have to get a new one.

@@computerspecialist8533 Thanks! Well - I did it. I removed everything following your video. I did not order the whole top. I decided to pop those plastic rivets and purchase only the $35 keyboard. I'll use hot glue like you mentioned. One tricky part is to try and not bend the thin metal plate as you pop the rivets (you could also sand them off or cut them off) but it all went well. I'm now in the middle of trying to hot glue the metal plate back to it's plastic case. I'll get back to you and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

I would start by unplugging / removing one thing at a time (My money is on the keyboard). Lay on its side then turn on and real quick unhook the keyboard, see if it boots. If still freezes, hook up keyboard again (since power button is on it) and try Solid State drive (Take out), repeat turn on process. Then battery, then side USB board. Hopefully it's one of these items! It could also be the motherboard, cpu or ram and these are all soldered together so you can't remove for testing :(
