I'm going to make this, but to save a little money, I'm going to put the leftover seasoned flour into a freezer container and put it in the freezer for next time I make this. No sense in wasting it! (I might sneak some celery in the oxtails too )....

Born n raised in NJ, lived in FL for 19yrs, but moved to Alabama 5 yrs ago, married a southern man and want a southern version of oxtail and this seems like it'll be the one! What a great video! Like many people, my family wasn't rich when I was growing up. Using these tougher cuts used to be a way for a family to really stretch their food budgets as they were cheap. People found ways to make these cuts delicious and now, these old fashioned recipes have become popular and driven up the demand and the prices for the cuts that used to be cheap. My mouth is watering just watching your video; I love oxtails and this looks like a really good way to make them.

Hello Mrs. Mattie! I know you say you don't use a lot of seasonings in your cooking! But even if you are using fresh onions, and garlic, you can still use onion powder and garlic powder with it! It's just going to bump up the flavor of your dishes! Try it one time and see if you can tell the difference. I start all my recipes with onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper and salt! 🤔🤨🧐😉👍✌❤🙏😁
If it tasted artificial, it's probably the brand of onion and garlic powder! I live in Texas. There are two major brands that I use that are very good and less expensive! One is called "Bolner's Fiesta brand spices and the other is Adams brand"! They're both made here in Texas, but I believe they also sell them online! I thought I saw you using Badia brand they're a good product also! I just thought that these might help you find a product that doesn't taste artificial! 😊✌❤🙏

I made mine with some black eyed peas. So dang good. Thanks for the recipe. I’ll be using it every time I make oxtail. ❤️❤️❤️

Mattie I love that you try to stay to tradition and Simplicity, I just wondered why you didn't use the same baking dish or at least retain some of the residual veggies etc, also what do you do with all the left over flour you seasoned? Just curious because I'm somewhat a frugal cook!
Mrs, Miss, Karen, could you have used the bell pepper and onions and flour, and other little stuff that you use when you brown the oxtails with in the bottom of that pan? Could you have used that when you mixed it up with the water and stirred it and drained it into the pan with the already browned ox tails already in the pan?

Yes, the drippings add extra flavor. You may also use same drippings and veggies for seasoned rice. Yum!

Hey there Ms. Mattie! I love ur recipe. Why didn't you add water to the pan, scrape up the goodies left in the bottom and cook ur meat in the same pan? Also, what ru going to do with all of the left over seasoned flour? Will it keep? I hate to throw anything away, if it can be used. I am a new fan! I love country cooking.

Mrs, Miss, Karen, could you have used the bell pepper and onions and flour, and other little stuff that you use when you brown the oxtails with in the bottom of that pan? Could you have used that when you mixed it up with the water and stirred it and drained it into the pan with the already browned ox tails already in the pan?
