      If I could like all of these comments I saw, I would. It's my biggest pet peeve of other trimming videos; then I miss any talking because I mute it unless I see them actually talking.

    That was actually a fascinating trim! I don't think I have ever heard of looking for frost bite in hooves. As always, very educational, thank you!

    Sometimes when you see someone work, you can just tell they are very good at it. Nate's work is such a case. You can clearly see his skill on display.

    I can relate to this cow I was frostbite when I was 2 years old and it damaged the growth plate in my fingers

    What a HUGE improvement!! I saw another similar "elf shoe" hoof trimming that seemed to have been overtrimmed, leaving the hoof bloody 😭. It's good to see that there is a non-bloody alternative to fixing this severe issue!
    Do you expect a 100% full recovery or does the frost bite cause life-long damage to the inner structure of the hoof?

      She will deal with that upturned toe her whole life. I’ll just have to keep up on it regularly. Since she’s had it her whole life she’s use to it and gets around quite well.

    Great job yet again Nate. She looks like she has been down at the heel for a while as well with the way that hoof was. At least now with the way you trimmed she won't be so down at the heel and will be more comfortable standing and walking

    Good job - her hoofs looked much better and it's so interesting to learn the different injuries cows can get which affect their hoofs.

    Oh its a common thing here! So much that we're got a small cottage industry knitting and sewing 'ear muffs' for calves. Winter usually has a few big nasty cold snaps up here before spring finally happens.

    Smh♥️ i just absolutely LOVE how gentle and respectful thia guy is while doing this work on these lil cows. Thats is so sweet and considerate of him. I watch another guy who also does this and dude is NOWHERE NEAR as easy on the girls as this man is. The cows r always bleeding and jumping and trying to squirm out of his grip. Not w this guy tho. I like it! They seem to too lol😉♥️

    Checks frostbite hypothesis with some research. And got the foot trimmed so she has a decent platform to stand on. Didn't seem possible at first glance. Nice work.

    Good Evening Nate, I have to say this trim was fascinating and educational because I never thought about cows getting frostbite. Will this cow always have problems with her hoof because of the frostbite or over time with trimming will correct it?

    Is it commonly believed or understood that hoof and feet problems are often considered an inherent genetic weakness? Your trim job was truly a work of art!! S. Carolina

      To a certain extent yes. However, many are the result of cattle being housed with unforgiving flooring as well. Cows aren’t designed to walk on concrete so we’re in a constant battle trying to make their environments more comfortable.

    Fascinating. The side by side at the end was great, wish you had also shown a side by side of the cow walking before and after trimming. Maybe consider doing something like that in a future video? Just a few seconds

    Um not a Vet but I have seen something like that before. On a donkey that had fondared. It's hoofs grew out like skies. She wasn't tame so it took awhile before we could get her caught and have someone come work on her hoofs. She is doing better and can run around.

    I came across a horse stable on my hike. I wondered why most of the horses had their ears missing. I found out it was due to frostbite. Horrible. In the wild animals huddle together, but humans keep these animals locked up alone. 😥

    I always thought that these cases were all corkscrew claw. We also once had a heifer which had all toes perfect except of one that pointed upwards like this one.

      These cases look similar to corkscrew claw but after you’ve seen them a few times you can distinguish the differences.

    Is this fixable in the sense that the cows foot will return to normal? Or is the damage from frostbite something the cow will live with her whole life? Other than the odd angle the hoof grows, does it cause the cow discomfort? Thanks for sharing all your videos!

      She will have to deal with it to some extent the rest of her life but she gets around quite well on it.
