If I could like all of these comments I saw, I would. It's my biggest pet peeve of other trimming videos; then I miss any talking because I mute it unless I see them actually talking.
Poor baby girl. Thank you for helping to make the foot more comfortable and as normal as possible for her. Keep those cows cosy at night and in winter.
What a HUGE improvement!! I saw another similar "elf shoe" hoof trimming that seemed to have been overtrimmed, leaving the hoof bloody 😭. It's good to see that there is a non-bloody alternative to fixing this severe issue! Do you expect a 100% full recovery or does the frost bite cause life-long damage to the inner structure of the hoof? Thanks again for the lesson Nate! 🐮
She will deal with that upturned toe her whole life. I’ll just have to keep up on it regularly. Since she’s had it her whole life she’s use to it and gets around quite well.
@@NatetheHoofGuy animals are great adapters! Always impressed by what they can get used to. Thanks again, Nate, for the reply! Happy trimming and I look forward to more videos! 🐮
Wow. So interesting- just when I thought I had seen all your vids. This piped up. It is amazing to watch - one because your skills, knowledge and commentary. And two because you want to make the cows as comfortable as possible. Joy to watch because you make happier cows!🐄♥️🐄
I know we have all said it before, but I feel it has to be said again. You are so impressive and clearly super knowledgeable! I love how you don’t just go through the motions, you are a true partner to the farmer.
I'm not living in a rural area, not even a farmer but I don't know why I'm always watching the latest video of this guy. Great job again, I'm learning more and more about this job in each video, keep it up!
Great job yet again Nate. She looks like she has been down at the heel for a while as well with the way that hoof was. At least now with the way you trimmed she won't be so down at the heel and will be more comfortable standing and walking
Not sure how I ever came to this channel but I absolutely enjoy everything you do such a professional. If I lived on a farm and had cows you’ll be the first person I call.
Will she always have this problem with her hoof? I'm sure glad you know what you are doing...I believe you said 19 years of experience with these wonderful bovine. Good Job, Mr. Nate Man!!!🐄👊👍🤜🤛👈🐄💥💥💥
Immense thanks to all you kind people who look after and care for all our animals. Your skills and dedication deserve our utmost praise and respect. Big hugs & stuff. 😍 🥰 💕😻🤟❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎💖💗
Oh its a common thing here! So much that we're got a small cottage industry knitting and sewing 'ear muffs' for calves. Winter usually has a few big nasty cold snaps up here before spring finally happens.
Smh♥️ i just absolutely LOVE how gentle and respectful thia guy is while doing this work on these lil cows. Thats is so sweet and considerate of him. I watch another guy who also does this and dude is NOWHERE NEAR as easy on the girls as this man is. The cows r always bleeding and jumping and trying to squirm out of his grip. Not w this guy tho. I like it! They seem to too lol😉♥️
Dionne Dunsmore unfortunately that guy is young and thinks he knows it all! Even people like us, who have nothing to do with cow’s, have common sense. His videos should be banned from RUclips!
Checks frostbite hypothesis with some research. And got the foot trimmed so she has a decent platform to stand on. Didn't seem possible at first glance. Nice work.
Good Evening Nate, I have to say this trim was fascinating and educational because I never thought about cows getting frostbite. Will this cow always have problems with her hoof because of the frostbite or over time with trimming will correct it?
I don't even have a cow, and I enjoy watching your videos. 😀 It could be the calmness in your explanation or the entertainment value of your work. Either way, I really enjoy your channel. Best of luck to you! I'll be seeing you.. in the next one. 😄
Is it commonly believed or understood that hoof and feet problems are often considered an inherent genetic weakness? Your trim job was truly a work of art!! S. Carolina
To a certain extent yes. However, many are the result of cattle being housed with unforgiving flooring as well. Cows aren’t designed to walk on concrete so we’re in a constant battle trying to make their environments more comfortable.
@@NatetheHoofGuy Thanks for your time and reply here. Hoof problems in horses can be attributed to nutritional imbalances, foundering etc. would you say that bovines are also subject to the same? Have subscribed, Thanks! S. Carolina
Thank you for sharing all these informative videos! I was curious, with continued trimming, will this pretty lady's hoof ever look close to 'normal', so that she isn't uncomfortable when walking?
Fascinating. The side by side at the end was great, wish you had also shown a side by side of the cow walking before and after trimming. Maybe consider doing something like that in a future video? Just a few seconds
Um not a Vet but I have seen something like that before. On a donkey that had fondared. It's hoofs grew out like skies. She wasn't tame so it took awhile before we could get her caught and have someone come work on her hoofs. She is doing better and can run around.
Me: Ok, it's time to stop watching Nate the Hoof Guy. You've seen like 6 in a row. You live in a city. You will *never* need this info. Also me: What? Frostbite? Oh man I gotta watch that.
I came across a horse stable on my hike. I wondered why most of the horses had their ears missing. I found out it was due to frostbite. Horrible. In the wild animals huddle together, but humans keep these animals locked up alone. 😥
I always thought that these cases were all corkscrew claw. We also once had a heifer which had all toes perfect except of one that pointed upwards like this one.
Is this fixable in the sense that the cows foot will return to normal? Or is the damage from frostbite something the cow will live with her whole life? Other than the odd angle the hoof grows, does it cause the cow discomfort? Thanks for sharing all your videos!
Thank you for no irritating background music.

Love the hoof gp but his taste in music is the worst.
THIS!
Exactly 💯
That was actually a fascinating trim! I don't think I have ever heard of looking for frost bite in hooves. As always, very educational, thank you!
Sometimes when you see someone work, you can just tell they are very good at it. Nate's work is such a case. You can clearly see his skill on display.

I can relate to this cow I was frostbite when I was 2 years old and it damaged the growth plate in my fingers
Wow.

Very interesting the detail about leaving the heel thicker, in order to keep the toe pointing to the ground.
Great video as usual, didn't know hooves could be affected by frostbite to such a degree.

Interesting to see how an environmental factor like weather can change the way a hoof grows.
