Oh my God. I'm really Loving this so much. Somebody needs to make a movie of Chaka's (nee Yvette Marie Stevens) life. I think that she is such an original and I have loved her since I first heard her voice. I'm from Chicago and my mother came home from some club talking about these two sisters that could really sing. I blew her off of course. I mean what did she know about talent, right? Little did I know that the 'Stevens' girls she was talking about would become Chaka Khan and Taka Boom. Both amazing singers. My moms not with us anymore but I remember how excited and moved she was to hear these sister's sang. A fan forever.

Wow thank you for blessing us with your talent. I remember when I heard 1974 Rufus featuring chaka Khan it changed my life forever I knew then I connected with your voice and wanted to sing. I was always comatose in feelings having grown up in Foster care and not knowing my mother who left me when I was a baby my father was in jail and having autism made me disconnected but when I heard your voice it was like the world that was in black and white is now in color. You have have a very powerful voice and I've heard your story that you have been through many things in this industry and you still managed to be a musical success impressed God bless you and God will continue to take care of you peace and love 😘💕😇

I'm 62 so I remember getting her first album with "You got the Love" on it when I was in college In 1973. It was so dope and shes still sexy as ever. I used to like it when she used to wear the feathers and the Indian apparel...OMG super super sexy and that volume she had with her voice was second to none !!
I'm 64 and Once you get started by Rufus came out it was own. I saw Chaka 3 or 4 times. Circle Star in San Carlos was a great performance...we love her...
Dear Chaka, I'm your age, I remember my brother played " Smokin Room" I was hooked.... my brother and I share a fondness for music, thanks to our Mother may she RIP. We love all types if music., but you dear Lady at the top of the list. I remember that denim shirt cover on the Album cover. OMG!!!!! All of those songs from that 1st Rufus album!!!! Feel Good.....Whatever's Thrilling You, Is Killing Me......Love the One Your With..... I was 15 when that album came out, and the singing group that I was in, thought that this album was done by 3 girls. We had NO idea that it was just one female, but we were SO excited.....it was such a NEW KIND OF SOUND!!! She had become my very own PRIMAL singer....so exciting....no other singer had EVER touched my inner spirit that way. Chaka was the only artist that came through disco unscathed..... because SHE could not be dumbed down if you payed her 10 times the amount that she has in the bank right now!!! UN-DUMB-DOWN-ABLE.

Chaka Khan is a force of nature! She is able to "steamroll" label executives. Fortunately, I have never heard bad record deals she had to go through. Two that I have learned about are Patrice Rushen and Phyllis Hyman, both had to deal with Clive Davis. Even Whitney Houston felt uncomfortable with the "image" Davis made for her. If Clive had tried that with Chaka Khan, she would've started singing "Pack'd My Bags"!

Beautiful story Ms. Chaka. I remember like it was yesterday, the first time I saw you perform with Rufus on Soul Train. I was a preteen then and I admired you and wanted to look like you. I thought you had the most beautiful face I had ever seen. I had a big afro and I started wearing my hair like yours. I have always admired your unique, beautiful voice. I must tell you when you recently performed 'Going Up Yonder' at Aretha Franklin's funeral, it really moved me. I watch the video daily. Thanks for sharing your story and music.

Cloudy but interesting story looking back. It's Miraculous how an American Treasure like Miss Khan musically ties many types of music fans together in Concert. I've been Blessed 6 times to see Miss Khan Live in different venues. I cant honestly say I've a more favorite memory between each one. They're all special to me. A recharge spiritually connection equal to Joy Rising. Miss Khan. Thank you.

My wife saw Chaka in Spain and spent the entire show in the front row with her mouth open in disbelief that all that voice was coming from that little lady. Whenever she reminisces about concerts, CK always gets mentioned.
