- This is the story of the Queen of Funk Chaka Khan who’s career has spanned more than five decades beginning in the early 1970s as the lead vocalist of the funk band Rufus as well as her personal struggles. She would become the first R&B artist to have a crossover hit featuring a rapper, with her 1984 song written by Prince "I Feel for You.
She has been ranked as the 65th most successful dance club artist of all Times by Billboard Music. She’s also ranked at No. 17 on VH1's original list of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll amongst other great accolades.

I love Chaka ! But, Prince did not write "i feel for you" for her… The song is from his second album released in 1979 (and was written for his "musical crush" of the time, Patrice Rushen - she rejected the song so Prince ended up releasing it himself). And Prince was not involved in Chaka Khan's 1984 version. David Frank (from The System) and Reggie Griffin both worked on the production of Chaka Khan's version, but, curiously enough, another "re-arranged" (but closer to the original) version was released the same year and the same month (!) on Rebbie Jackson's (Michael Jackson's oldest sister) 1984 "Centipede" album… 🤷🏻♂
She told the real story on Vlad Tv
But Prince Did Write The Song So To Really Be Honest With U It Became A Remake For Chaka There It Is...One Love Fam.

Nice! She seems like a great person! Happy New Year and thanks for watching 🙏🏽
This always happens with groups. When one member gets more attention, other band mates get angry. Their personal and natural set of talents doesn’t make a star, Chaka’s did.
💯💯
IT "DO YOU LOVE WHAT YOU FEEL!!!
Chaka was drunk asf during Verzuz. Lol Stephanie Mills held her down that night. True sisterhood 💯 ✔️ 🎯
I love Chaka Khan, so she made a lot of timeless music during her run in the industry
Yes she sure and has left a lasting impression on the music industry. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
Yes she did and still doing her thang today
Stevie wonder? Figures. Motown Genius.
Yup 💯🙌🏾
Jealousy, envy, and narcissisms is the 3-headed dragon that has devoured and destroyed oh so many successful unions both business and personal.
Chaka IS the greatest female singer of (All Time)……..

Thanks for this!
You're very welcome and thanks for watching ❤️
ilove chaka ...but she is too beautiful , cute and bubbly....but lets not hide it .chaka was the star, rufus was just a backup band...but they no doubt worked hard and feel they deserve more..
her power over men must have been legendary....she sure got me.
someone should just say ..hey rufus do you think the guys that drummed on elvis presley tunes deserves to be splattered all over the album cover...NO
BUT CHAKA only really did 3 songs.... feel for you, im every woman, aint nobody....
everything else is junk....except for her little hot pants and fantastic smile and stage presence
Chaka's 1985 hit Can't Stop The Street should've gotten mentioned on here
Excellent video!! #chakakhan fan here!! #Chitown
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🎊
So greatful for my Dads extensive 11:32 alblum collection! He would always tell me about all the different Chaka Khan concerts he would attend! He’d try his hardest to be front row at her concerts bcuz he claimed she didn’t wear underwear during her performances 😂 In the 90s when I would be vibing to what I thought was a new song, he would pull an album and say They sampled Chaka!
😂😂
Loved this video especially the early Chicago footage. Ms. Chaka was the godchild of my aunt and uncle. My uncle told funny tales of the antics of Chaka’s father. The only song I like of her’s is Everlasting Love which is a Rufus collaboration. It is always a pure joy to visit black Chicago of the past decades. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for watching!
Chaka is definitely a musical icon ❤
