Even though it doesn't look nice and I know you have to deal with loads of haters, I really appreciate that you show us all the difficult moments with your horses! That needs loads of courage and a strong personality... thanks a lot for it ♥ I'm even more looking forward to seeing your progress :D
I know right. My horse bucks all the time and I've grown so used to it I actually think that It's fun! I'm insane right? But if I was in her situation I'd totally freak out.
·I Am Hades· I know right my mare flicks all the time and I just find it fun because she has never done a big buck with anyone just flicks but in the field she gallops around bucking massive
This horse has energy but wow I just have to bow for your calmness! I see you have to get to know each other, she seems young and testing, but you got it covered! GOOD JOB!
I think the thing I love the most about your channel is your not only putting out videos of your horses going perfectly you actually show the real videos like not just when they seem perfect!!! My horse is a lot like Cara actually so when I see nearly everyone with their horses looking perfect all the time it gets really depressing because my horse isn't like that! When I see your videos they give me so much inspiration!!! Keep being amazing Therese!!!
I've just bought a horse and I'm now in the same situation you were in. It's nice to see people riding in similar situations to help me with seating, how much leg to use and how quick and slow to introduce new things. I'm hoping we can compete soon seeing as she is only 6 yrs old. After watching all your videos I now have a varied range of ideas to try and get her out of these habits. I feel the main ones are gaining trust, she's been neglected in the past and now I feel I can't just say she's too much for me to handle. I have to keep going to make her the excellent horse she can be. Thank you so much, you have given me inspiration and admiration. I feel so happy with my ideas to get confidence back. I just need to keep the correct seating and leg on and not get angry and upset when things aren't going well. Thank you for uploading your story on RUclips for others to see who may be in a similar situation. DON'T LISTEN TO HATERS CAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW A THING ABOUT THIS SITUATION. GO BUY YOURSELF A MENTAL HORSE AND SEE WHERE THAT'LL GET YOU WITH A LACK OF EQUINE KNOWLEDGE. I'LL TELL YOU WHERE... A&E. This girl has been through a tough journey and I feel she needs to be given a box of sweets and a load of flowers cause this isn't an easy thing to do as I've figured out...
I have so much respect for what you're doing here. He's not trying to kill you, he's not bucking like he's insane. He's just showing you his fear and you're telling him it's okay to be afraid but you'll stick with him through it all. YOU GO GIRL!
Your horse reminds me of mine. He is a crazy old man, but all he does is pop-up constantly, and the family just sits there laughing and enjoying the ride. Good for you just letting her do her thing. What a fun active horse to have!
Lovely riding! I'm so happy to see that there are still riders out there that handle their horses calmly and responsibly (even when they're as nutty as Cara!) xx
I love that you never get harsh or sharp with her, and are simply letting her work through her energy on her own and sitting chilly:) Very well-ridden. No gimmicks or tools, just plain old good riding!
She makes me think of my last TB mare. Happy to see someone who is not whipping, and yanking on a high energy horse. Anyways, you handle that fireball like a charm. She looks like a fun mare! Can't wait to see more of her
I really like your calm body language! It made me smile seeing your horse having so much fun with you :) She's obviously a young horse! Don't worry about the behavior. It is normal, but everyone here tries to give you advices how to do better. I personally don't know many riders, who are so skilled like you and stay calm without hurting the horse. You both show up very a nice team! Good luck 👍🏿🍀
I'm in love with Cara ❤ she has so much character and is an amazing jumper, you ride her so well. Not many people would be able to stay that calm riding her xx
Gosh! Love a mare with sass 💕😂 you two look really good together and you look really calm as well when riding her 😊 can't wait for a progress video! Keep up with the awesome riding Hun xx
As a beginner rider who has had several encounters with a spooked horse that has shaken me a bit, this was very inspiring to watch. Note to self, be morel like you :)
All the best horses have a quirky side !!My horse Calypso gets over excited and bronks on the spot !! Most of the time I just laugh it off and just get on with it.I consider him my horse of a lifetime :) He has sooo much potential.Well Done Therese!!
Aww she a firecracker! You ride her so well! Have you ever galloped her full out? It would be so interesting to see what she's like! Bets she's super speedy❤️
I really love her! You ride her so well and everyone can see that she's more relaxedthan a month ago, but she will always be a little crazy. We all see that Cara just really loves to jump :p You do great work with her! So much respect for you!
She is a lot like my mare. I have learned that it's lots of patience, 20 meter circles, just riding her out. I always try to do roughly 20 minutes of flat before asking her to do anything jumping related due to the fact that it winds her up. When I do jumping exercises, I start at 18 inch and make her walk until about two strides before the jump and then ask her to trot over. If she rushes then, I ask her to trot then ask her walk about two strides before the jump and then ask her to halt. I don't allow her to jump until she can rate herself a little bit more. I have also done an exercise where I placed a pole every stride before a jump so she has to rate herself. Maybe take a day to just lounge and work on ground work. I have found that a lot of the problems I have had with my mare has been fixed to some extent on the ground. I'm sorry if I seem rude or pushy, I'm just trying to help another crazy mare owner :)
My mare reacts like this when she has to learn new things and doesn't understand it. The only way to deal with it, is keeping calm. You're doing great with Cara!
I take my hat off to you. That was some very well handled riding there. You sit so quietly and let her have her excited moments, but you gently remind her that she has to do what you ask, and for your patience I commend you xx ignore all the haters, I would like to see them handle Cara the way you do :)
The crazy ones are the best jumpers! My crazy pony is a very good jumper! Have you tried a running martingale attachment though? Might help a little bit? Helped with mine but then again not all horses are the same! X
I admire her tenacity, this horse does not like the bit or is in pain, I'm sure you have a trainer to guide you as to how to work through this problem🤗
When you don't want any 'hate' comments, then way put so MANY videos on youtube where all your horses are reareing? I mean, it's obvious that a lot of people will complain about your riding style and the way you're treating your horses...
All right so I'm sorry for my mistake. But still, why upload the videos? I'm not saying that you should only post all these 'everything is so awesome my horses are great' videos that many do. But when you are given a lot of rather bad comments and you don't want the hate, then simply don't post them. Horse people are mostly not going easy on you and LOVE to criticize everything what in their opinion you are doing wrong (I'm kinda doing the same thing so sorry haha), so don't give them more reason to hate on you.
Unfortunately the crazy ones mostly are the good ones! :D I like the calm way you treat her, you're never agressive or rude... I'm so excited how far the two of you will make it one day!
Your doing a great job with her! She just looks like a little ball of energy ready to run, staying calm is the best way to go. Great job! Ps I always fell the need to comment on your videos because I fell like you get a unnecessary amount of hate over nothing and I just want you to know that they are all wrong and your a great rider and horse owner💕
Oh , I know that from my horse. I like the way you ride her : you stay cool and try to ride as good as she allows it in this moment XD I love the video
Not trying to hate on the rider, mistakes happen and we all learn from them. I appreciate that this video was shared, I think we all can learn from this. I'm trying to help people who have the same problem with their horse or just want to understand what's happening here. The main problem here is the rearing. A horse typically rears, when pressure is applied from both the front and the back at the same time. She uses her legs to make the horse go forward, but at the same time she holds the reins very tight, which keeps the horse from going forward. It's like stepping on the gas while pulling the break. The horse can't go forward, so instead it goes upwards and rears. Some horses also rear when you just pull back on the reins to much. Moving upwards and throwing it's head in the air gives the horse a little bit of release, since the reins go slack for a moment. The horse simply tries to move away from the pressure. *Solution:* Don't have your reins that tight. There is no need to have them that tight at all times. If you don't put pressure on the bit, your horse has no reason to move away from it. If you have to put pressure on the bit, remember to release it. This horse only get's pressure, and no release at all. That's why it's fighting back. Horses and pressure are like kids and homework. Imagine Paul does his homework, and when he's finished, he doesn't get a praise, but an extra math problem to solve. He solves the math problem, and is asked to write an essay right after that. He finshes the essay and gets the task to read a book. He finishes the book and.... This would go on forever. So Paul decides to not do his homework, because when he does, he just get's more work, and he doesn't get anything out of it. If you constantly pressure a horse and ask it to do things without release, it will refuse. The horse knows: It doesn't matter if I jump the obstacle, or canter in a circle, or do a piaffe. I always get pressure, so I can aswell just buck around and ignore the rider. Tight reins make tight horses. Watch the girl on the dark horse: In the beginning, she canters her horse calmly without pulling at all. Her reins are quite long, and her horse makes no fuss at all. Head low, tail not moving, mouth closed, ears relaxed or pointed forward, nice smooth relaxed movements. On the bay horse: Constantly tight reins, pulling back. The horses head is high, eyes wide open, tail very active, the mouth is open quite often, ears moving a lot, the movements are jerky, steps are short, the horse is more hopping than cantering. Also: At the very end, the horses head is far behind the vertical. I understand that horses sometimes do this on their own, but in this case it's caused by the riders tight reins. Loosen up a bit, you both will be fine :)
I am not going to be rude or hate or sling insults... But is this the same person who was jumping that other rearer?? Have you not leant to stop pushing your horses so hard?? This horse needs what the other horse needed too, to go back to basics. Forget jumping. Work on softly forward and trot poles. Until then do not even consider turning this horse towards a jump. All you are doing is prolonging the time it will take for the poor anxious horse to settle. Just like the last time. This has been said hundreds of times to you... Perhaps listen.
Listen Up She is trying to rehabilitate the horse. The horse seemed really happy with itself once it went over the jump, so jumping most likely isn't going to prolong rehabilitation.
Listen Up She could have been working with him on going over jumps after he had proven he/she was fine on flat, or she was using the jump as a reward. Rehabilitation changed depending on the horse. Some horses don't need to go back to basics while others need to go all the way back to just playing around in a field and gaining confidence. Btw... You were rude, were hating, and dishingnout insults.. Saying things like "Have you not leant to stop pushing your horses so hard??" is slightly rude and makes the rest of your comment seem like you are trying to bash on her. The end was pretty rude too.
+Bubble Mutt Haha rude?? Are you kidding! People have insulted her riding, verbally bashed her, sworn at her and been vile. I would never do that. I was more than polite by comparison. I told her to think about her horse and work on the basics before jumping. Good advice if only she would listen. But it seems to fall on deaf ears again and again. In another 20 years if she still rides, she may look back and finally realise her mistakes. But who knows she just might listen and think about taking more time with her next horse... i hope. PS Any rider worth their salt knows if a horse behaves like that when you turn it toward a jump... means you have not done close to enough ground pole work!!!
Loving the gate comments. No one has read the description. Also they have to butt out. It's not your horse it is hers and if you have seen most of her videos you can see she loves and cares for her horses and I highly doubt she would let them be in pain. This horse is excited. My horse gets like this if I just walk him for more then 15min. So I walk him or at least try to haha. He does this head up and all. Nothing wrong with his tack if there was he would be doing it from the start :p he just needs to be warmed up unlike this girl XD congrats on being so calm and telling us that this happens and it's ok to happen and to be calm about it and just try your best!!!
I'm working with a Thoroughbred mare who is much like this horse. I wonder, though, what made you choose to add in a cavaletti when just moving forward at a reasonable gate was not even accomplished? For me, they go reasonably at a walk, bending, reaching, respectful, before we go onto trot, and so on. But way to hang in there.....for any of us who have trained client horses, there's always at least one of these.....wires are crossed or something, we just have to figure out how to un-cross. Good luck!
im just wondering if there is something in the tack pinching? is there a tooth rubbing on the bit? the rider has flawless balance. if this horse does this all the time... horses dont usually fight constantly just because.
Even though it doesn't look nice and I know you have to deal with loads of haters, I really appreciate that you show us all the difficult moments with your horses! That needs loads of courage and a strong personality... thanks a lot for it ♥
I'm even more looking forward to seeing your progress :D
+Kurmärker - ein Pferdeleben thank you ❤️
this aint a difficult time.. this is a horse whos stuck in his body and wanting to say it!!!!!!!
She looks like she reallly just wants to go fast and jump big and She can't handle her excitement 😂 😂 You handle her so well!!

I love you so much!💗 I love how you ride, you let her have her paddy and you deal with it like it is nothing!
Bets she's super speedy❤️
you must be the most patient person ever, I'd get so frustrated I'd be off the saddle in 10 minutes haha!
thanks!
I really love her! You ride her so well and everyone can see that she's more relaxedthan a month ago, but she will always be a little crazy. We all see that Cara just really loves to jump :p
You do great work with her! So much respect for you!

Just WOW you and Cara are so good!! And she jumps so cool! Good luck!
Thank you!
I love how calm you are, brilliant rider
I love how excited she is, funny to watch!
She is a lot like my mare. I have learned that it's lots of patience, 20 meter circles, just riding her out. I always try to do roughly 20 minutes of flat before asking her to do anything jumping related due to the fact that it winds her up.

I'm sorry if I seem rude or pushy, I'm just trying to help another crazy mare owner :)
She's a real free spirit. You handle her very well! Hopefully she will calm down a bit soon :)
I love how she keeps her cool. I would have freaked out immediately!
Respect for how calm you are all the time 👍
omg that's hilarious cus cara is just full of energy and sass and then in the background Myarim is riding around so calmly in the background 😂
That looks like fun. Nice work Therese
My mare reacts like this when she has to learn new things and doesn't understand it. The only way to deal with it, is keeping calm. You're doing great with Cara!

Gotta love her sassiness
+littlegreyshowjumper thank you ❤️
I absolutely LOVE how soft and patient you are ‹3
Thanks!
When you don't want any 'hate' comments, then way put so MANY videos on youtube where all your horses are reareing? I mean, it's obvious that a lot of people will complain about your riding style and the way you're treating your horses...

Inamio she does this so we horse people can learn how to stay calm. thank you Theresa☺
SiblingProblems i have no horse experience? that's funny.
Inamio I think she works with troubled horses
Unfortunately the crazy ones mostly are the good ones! :D I like the calm way you treat her, you're never agressive or rude... I'm so excited how far the two of you will make it one day!
Haha Yeah thanks!
I love how calm you are you're sitting there like. "I'm just.. gonna sit here."

HAHAHA all the disclaimers in the description. Ugh internet trainers are the worst. She's such a little firecracker 😍😍
+Christina Martins true. Thank you 😂😂
The song's name is "Get off my back", noch "You must be crazy".
Omg you are SO good with abused and spooky/scared horses :0 You have my admiration !
Hi can I use some of these clips in a fail/falls vid thanks xx I will give you full credit
Oh , I know that from my horse. I like the way you ride her : you stay cool and try to ride as good as she allows it in this moment XD
I love the video
What breed is she, and how old? Cara looks very beautiful.
Can you ride or what??? Your mare is gorgeous and you're just amazing with her- so calm and focused and steady. Just fantastic to see!
Not trying to hate on the rider, mistakes happen and we all learn from them. I appreciate that this video was shared, I think we all can learn from this.

glad its not just my horse that bunny hops and jumps in the air 😂
I am not going to be rude or hate or sling insults... But is this the same person who was jumping that other rearer??
Have you not leant to stop pushing your horses so hard??
This horse needs what the other horse needed too, to go back to basics.
Forget jumping.
Work on softly forward and trot poles.
Until then do not even consider turning this horse towards a jump.
All you are doing is prolonging the time it will take for the poor anxious horse to settle.
Just like the last time.
This has been said hundreds of times to you...
Perhaps listen.
Listen Up this is so true. To often people just want to ride ride ride and neglect the horses mental state
Listen Up She is trying to rehabilitate the horse. The horse seemed really happy with itself once it went over the jump, so jumping most likely isn't going to prolong rehabilitation.
Bubble Mutt You clearly have not retrained many problem horses if you also do not understand the need to wait.
Listen Up
She could have been working with him on going over jumps after he had proven he/she was fine on flat, or she was using the jump as a reward.
She looks great! And good job putting up with that many people don't have much patience 😂
Every video I have watched the horse always spooked. Do you purposely get green horses or something
The girl and horse in the back are just chillen 😂😂
Love this song, we used it for our 'bloopers' video too, it's so apt!!
Jesus woman, your core must be flipping amazing 😂😂
I'm working with a Thoroughbred mare who is much like this horse. I wonder, though, what made you choose to add in a cavaletti when just moving forward at a reasonable gate was not even accomplished? For me, they go reasonably at a walk, bending, reaching, respectful, before we go onto trot, and so on. But way to hang in there.....for any of us who have trained client horses, there's always at least one of these.....wires are crossed or something, we just have to figure out how to un-cross. Good luck!
You handled that really well !!! Well done x
Don't listen to the haters
Trey don't know you and they don't know your horse
She's a beauty
im just wondering if there is something in the tack pinching? is there a tooth rubbing on the bit? the rider has flawless balance. if this horse does this all the time... horses dont usually fight constantly just because.
How old is she? A 5yr old at my barn behaves in the same way, and giving release and really pushing her forward by using more leg helps alot
You handle the little firecracker so calmly! :-D This would probably scare the crap out of me......
This is is beautiful horse😍 Is it an achal tekkiner?
She's adorable and you handle her quite well!
+Chips Ahoy thank you :)
She does look like a lot to handle but you're handling it super well! Good job!!! :D
Thank you :)
