The 2 best interviewers were her & Kerri O’Brien in that era perhaps she was before him . Both were tenacious even tempered and yes balanced . Some of O’Brien’s toughest interviews were with Keating . John Howard had Laurie Oakes who definitely gave him a free ride .. I saw a very funny bloopers tape when she was a news reader at Channel 10 in Melbourne. My god we need people like her now.

true.it's crap now.funnily enough judging by the year and date on this it was around the time we had the likes of jodie young and catriona rowntree on the reborn wonderworld on 9 that screened a couple of hours earlier on weekdays which was reinstated that february.those two along with jana wendt were or are some of the best in their fields of what a journalist or reporter should be.how modern day aca gets over a million people a night these days comes down to a few things,bogans or ferals too stubborn to change,the parents with school aged kids market and the elderly.i was kind of pleased i never had to watch this garbage past 92 or 93 in our home when dad started working nights from 94 onwards.
ACA in 1992 - very decent stories and well worth the entertainment value. ACA today - corrupt Queensland businessmen, fat-blasting trends, ignorant councils, overcharging supermarkets, and a never-ending storm of useless one-offs.
i agree about modern day aca being crap.9 australia refuses to admit to it needing a permanent except for during tennis season 7pm solution that's not garbage or a milked to death sitcom or some reality tv show.

Men certainly struggled around Jana Wendt, that is obvious. Jana has a quality that is hard to pin point. Enjoyed watching this, but I really want to know if the Dire Straits song was about her?
@@tobytoby782 they ditched those big bang theory reruns for the god awful tracey grimshaw aca.surely the figures ratings wise weren't the best and indeed all their old sitcoms were milked to death but anything is an improvement.reruns of my two dads,my two wives even caroline in the city to name but a few things in the absence of a 7pm game show.
On Wikipedia it stated that she was sacked from channel 9. Channel 9 received a lot of complaints from her sacking. Eddie McGuire was channel 9 CEO at that time.
Marg Downey's impersonation of Jana Wendt is nothing short of brilliant and John Clarke and Bryan Dore are just so funny. Love them, wish we could see more of them on television. By the way what ever happened to Jana Wendt?
Jana Wendt - the reason ACA worked back then (and partly where Marg Downey got her inspiration for parodying her in Fast Forward). Tracy Grimshaw - not a good choice as ACA host nowadays (she isn't as warm or charming in her interview techniques as Jana was).
Yana was all class and careful enough to never try to implement her own opinion as neutral and central to it all unlike Spicer. I wonder if and when Tracy does leave, if she will be remembered for the same but ACA is God awful and cringe as well to watch these last couple of decades here...

Just a small insight into why Jana was deservedly known as the "perfumed steamroller".
She got shafted....A journalist that asked too many hard questions I miss her.
