It would be kind of cool if you did a video about these rods from the cheapest to the most expensive and what make them good/bad and why. I have one Madkatz rod and two Warrior Cat rods. Both offer exceptional customer service. Warrior Cat customer service went beyond expectations for me. The issue that I ran into with a lot of rod makers is that they only offered rods in 7'6" length or over. I don't fish with rods over 7'2" to include my bass rods because I do a lot of kayak and bank fishing..
@FishinNStuff I have bought my last off the rack built rod. Will be going to Mudhole near Orlando to get what I need to build my own. I'm big on DIY so this is right down my alley. Also into 3D printing. Printed my own 4 rod tote from thingiverse.

I have a couple rods now that I like and they only cost $24ea a couple yrs ago and are 100% fiberglass.I'm trying to find a few more but they're hard to find as they're always sold out everywhere or I'd mention the brand and model.

Give me the $80 Berkley Ecat for dragging, the $80 Ugly Stik Bigwater for suspending, and the $25 Berkley Big Game for bumping. Very few of the rods I saw at the conference were any better, although they were pretty looking and dag gum eck pen sev! The best of the best are some of the custom rods with swirled guides (guide lines up at reel then swirls to the other side of the rod), but at $200+...who can afford that for one rod? For bank fishing, any 12' glass salt water surf rod will outcast the composites. My opinion from fishing for Tennessee River big cats for over 10 years, just sayin. :)
Just a lil FYI on long rods.Between short rods and long ones the longer ones will exert more pressure to you than it does the fish.Think of it like a seesaw and you move the center fulcrum towards one seat.A longer rod does the same to you. With back problems like me you'll notice it much sooner. If you need a long rod to get some casting distance you might need to look at your casting technique.IDL how far you need to cast to get in some places from the bank, but my lil 6'6" Med 100% fiberglass can cast a 2oz flat bank and cut bait on #30 braid and #40 mono leader out 100-115yds. if I really need to but that's all in casting technique.Where I live in PA rarely do I have to cast any further than maybe 75.
Twisty eye rods are getting harder to find. We use them for salmon trolling rods here in Canada on the great lakes, even as a tackle shop owner most of my suppliers do not carry the twisty eye rods anymore. If you can find a blank you like and know someone who can do custom rod building , that might be your best choice to making the rods you want. But it will be pricey.
@@rider660r You won't find a surf fisherman fishing with anything less than a 9 footer. When I bank fish, I use up to 6 oz weight and another 6 oz of cut skipjack, and launch it up to 150 yards on a 12 ft Penn pursuit surf fishing rod. I can launch lighter weights on my 7 foot ugly stik. It is not about the landing of the fish, it is the launch of such a big bait. Great video as always, man I wish I would've sent you after a couple of those muddy river blue cat rods . Looks like the conference is growing big time, Thanks for sharing,
I don't have a problem with Uglystix at all that's why I put em in it . But they do have less backbone than the others . But you could use the ugly stix Tiger rods . Because the difference is all big Catfish rods are designed for Saltwater fishing . The Ugly stick Tiger rod is their saltwater design
Seen you there but didn't get a chance to talk to you. More catfish rods I've ever seen but i went with 3 catch the fever rods. Keep up the good stuff.
Loved the rod which could bend all the way around and not break. My preference for the range of saltwater fish we target is medium-light action on an unbreakable rod. Haven't found that combination yet, so we end up replacing rods every so often 😂.
what kind of fish are you targeting? For instance, you need a different rod fishing for the same fish if you are on a jetty in Massachusetts or a jetty in Florida or a pier in Florida. Just sayin'.
@@rembrandtshadows Our actual target species are any legal edible fish that bite 😋. What we reasonably get are anything from small-mid pinfish and croaker to large slot redfish and black drum. Mixed in are Sheepshead, whiting, flounder, speckled trout, multiple types of bass, warmouth, and several other tasty critters. Medium-light action is perfect for those fish. Every now and then we'll get a bull redfish, large mackerel (king or Spanish), large stingray, massive jack crevalle, and the occasional shark or gator. I'm perfectly happy not landing the big beasts in the kayak - but I've had more than one rod shattered when one of those big critters ran under the boat before I realized what it was and could adjust for it or cut the line.
I love my HellCats . They do make other rods too . But any rod on this video will serve you well I would think . That's why I left the argument up to the vendors lol 😆
My favorite rod will be the one with eyes that don’t get cut grooves by the line after two years(braid or mono) . Whisker seeker and ugly stik catfish have failed me in that position.
That old Whiskerseeker I showed has inserts in the eyes . That's a bad feature but I got a good deal on em 4 years ago . When they were switching everything over to aluminum reelseats
He was right about the Rippen-Lips blank. It makes long casts and you can feel the fight. However i have had to replace the tip guide because of line cuts. I dread the day i find cuts in the other guides. I have an old 9 foot Eagle Claw spinning rod. After years of braided line the guide inserts show no wear.
No I never seen them and I wish I would have I was slammed all day both days . Honestly I didn't even know they were there . I only did rods if the owners were actually there and I hate that I missed them
I still like the Shakespeare SPL1100 rods in 7' , to bad the company still don't make them anymore. My SPL is over forty years and still going. If I find a SPL in any store I still buy them. Would like to try those hellcats though.
They don't make em like they use too . But I do really like the HellCats . The Ripping Lips rods they have me are really nice for the price . They are priced closer to an UglyStix
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that scale say the hellcat rod was 17+ ounces? In my eyes, a light rod is under 10 ounces. NO WAY is a 17oz rod "light".
Your right it was 1.1 lbs . I miss spoke . And I didn't say it was light . I said it was impressive to have a 17 oz rod with an Aluminum reel seat . So technically that is a light rod . You won't find a 10oz rod with an Aluminum reel seat . If you do let me know so I can buy one
So many rods to pick from, it's hard to pick just one, I have been using the ugly sticks for years but last year started using the whisker seekers, and this year went with a few Slimecat rods. Sad thing is I'm in Comifornia and we don't have any shops that cater to Catfishing, just bass or trout so i always have to order on line. Another Great video..
It really depends on what you like and what you can afford . If you can't afford much . UglyStix are great rods and I still like em . But if you can afford a little more I like a rod with a little more back bone . Which uglystix lack in . They arch like a rainbow and you want backbone past the center of the rod . You dint need to spend alot to get that . But that's the only reason I upgraded my rods actually
I ended up buying 7 Rippin Lips rods this year, 3 Legacy, 1 Legacy SE and 3 HD's. I started off with 2 and then bought a bunch more after fishing with them. They were what I was looking for. These companies charging $100+ for some heavy ass E-glass 1960's party boat rod blanks is criminal.
Oh I know. Just a wee bit out of the budget at the time. But it's warming up so I always come back to your videos to freshen up on some knowledge and hacks.
the guides seem to be the weak point on many rods. i used shakesphere ugly stick big water for years but many of the guides would come apart. i got rid of all of them.
You want the stainless steel guides . I love Ugly stix but they fail in 2 areas. They don't have a backbone and the guides stink . So iagree with you . The HellCats I use have stainless steel guides . Very thick and very strong
You said those scissors didn't weigh anything after you just showed us they weigh four ounces I'm just saying you know what I'm saying 😂 love the videos
I absolutely enjoy all of the 20+ videos I have watched and can find only one criticism. You continue to use the word "cheap" when, based on your content and purpose, you mean "inexpensive". Cheap means that you don't get what you paid for or what you bought isn't worth what you paid, isn't good use of/waste of money and the end result, in your case, won't last very long. Inexpensive, on the other hand, means you got/get more than you paid for, quality, will last a long time, results in a favorable deal/result and worth your money. Do what you want with this information as I know it will be too expensive to correct/res-shoot all your videos but you might want to re-think which word you use in the future because all of your videos are the result of inexpensive application of quality materials. KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS!
So the HELLCAT is 1lb and 1.01oz? So it's 17oz . It's the heavier of the rods u weighed . Right. It's not 1.01oz look to far left there is a pound mark that has a 1 . The others has a 0 in pound place

Great
All are great rods except for one thing NO MED HEAVY 2 PIEACE SPINNING RODS were available.
I saw spinning rods but I didn't even think about 2 piece hmm 🤔
Is there a website or something for the f.o.a rods or anything bc i can't find anything
Facebook FOA fishing gear
Awesome
I still like the Shakespeare SPL1100 rods in 7' , to bad the company still don't make them anymore. My SPL is over forty years and still going. If I find a SPL in any store I still buy them. Would like to try those hellcats though.
They don't make em like they use too . But I do really like the HellCats . The Ripping Lips rods they have me are really nice for the price . They are priced closer to an UglyStix
That’s it I’m coming for that wallbass I dang near choked on my apple on that , well all three but I’m going ya take my pole ta catch me a wooped

Muddy River Blue Cat Rod.. Hands Down..
They are nice
Hay thanks for showing this.
🤔 You Tuber rods🤔 ........

My favourite rod is the one in my wife's hand, you know what I'm saying? you know what I'm saying, just saying, love from the ass end of the world 🇦🇨
I love the Dad jokes! those have to be the second best part of your videos.
Great conference video and informational, another great video, keepem comin.
Im in Arizona and a weekend catfish fishing person what should I go with for my catfish pole and real?
It really depends on what you like and what you can afford . If you can't afford much . UglyStix are great rods and I still like em . But if you can afford a little more I like a rod with a little more back bone . Which uglystix lack in . They arch like a rainbow and you want backbone past the center of the rod . You dint need to spend alot to get that . But that's the only reason I upgraded my rods actually
I've looked at Madkatz for a while. I have a few Catfish Sumo rods I really like.
Had to come back to this video to admire the hellcats again. Eventually I'll get a few to go with my penn reels that were left to me.
They are nice rods
Are there any catfish rods that use Fuji guides on them? I'm not a fan of stainless steel guides.
Look at the ripping lips rods . Like liked those and they had graphite reel seats . Not sure if they are fugi or not . Good price too
I like what rippin lips said..He is not claiming his rods are the best. #respect
They are actually nice rods for the price
Ugly Stick period LOL
Great information. Thanks
You said those scissors didn't weigh anything after you just showed us they weigh four ounces I'm just saying you know what I'm saying 😂 love the videos
You got a point lol 😆
My EX WAS ALWAYS TESTING DIFFERENT RODS ALSO😂😂😂
I just want to know if there’s a way I can get a fishin n stuff shirt they’re so awesome you know what I’m sayin?….you know what I’m sayin 😂
Thank you for this video. I learned a lot,and helps us to choose more wisely.
Chris Hi 5 New Mexico.
MY LIL FISHIN BUDDY IS COMEDIAN 😅😂
So the HELLCAT is 1lb and 1.01oz? So it's 17oz . It's the heavier of the rods u weighed . Right. It's not 1.01oz look to far left there is a pound mark that has a 1 . The others has a 0 in pound place
Our favorite rod is a dock demon...just saying lol
Lol those things are tough as crap
Hey was Clarence Tuttlespud there ?
whisker whips!
Where did the fisherman go to get his hair cut?
- the bobber shop! 😂
Haha
If you don't use those whiskerseeker rods. I WILL. 😆 They are my favorite rod. 7'6" medium heavy. Great video neighbor.
Hahaha you're weird, but I like you.
That was a great video, a must!
That's really awesome 👌 👏 👍 ❤
