As a northerner who's lived in London and Herts the last 30 years, I'd just like to say how much I've enjoyed riding in Essex the past few years. Not dramatic scenery, just lovely rolling countryside with some rather pleasant villages at times perfectly suited to exploring by bike.
Hey it's nice to read your comment, I totally agree. I always have a good time when I'm out in Essex, particularly some of the coastal areas. Obviously I'd love to get further afield (whether north, or Wales, Scotland or wherever) but can't usually spare the time. Thanks for watching!
I've just left an almost identical comment! Saw yours after I'd posted my own. I found Essex and Sussex on this year's Dunwich Dynamo and have to agree with you about cycling there😊.
I recognise some of those lanes from this year's Dunwich Dynamo - to my shame I hadn't realised how beautiful parts of Essex are before that. In my defence, I live up north, but I'll be back😊.
Spot on! Funnily enough I was out yesterday, riding down from Lincs to London through bits of the country I'd never visited before (Sleaford, Stamford, around Peterborough). It's beautiful there, I never realised. Even Bedfordshire was great. We're so lucky with this country we've got, there's a huge amount of beauty to explore out there. Thanks for the comment and I hope you make it back down south at some point. The Dynamo is a right blast, isn't it?
Hey thanks for watching and commenting, too. Essex is underrated in my opinion, it's got loads of lovely lanes (some flat, but some pretty rolling). If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go. Happy riding!
Sadly not but a one of our Bristol bike mechanics who rode LEL with you is. Some friends met you on the train back into Bristol after the Bryan Chapman!
Ha! I’m 99% certain I know who you mean - a couple, they’d been riding over the Gwent Levels over to Cardiff, I think? They were very friendly (if I’ve got the right people), please say hello when you see them again!
If you have a GoPro subscription, I believe that you can get the GoPro replaced or repaired. Best of luck sorting that out as it would be a shame to have an interruption to a great visual experience.
Hi Richard. I should have made that clear, I’ve mentioned it in previous vids but often forget what I’ve said so far as I’m riding along. PBP = Paris-Brest-Paris, it’s a once every four years event taking place in August, 1,200km audax from (obviously) Paris out to the far tip of the Brittany peninsula and back again. I’ve been trying to get ready for this since about January, it’s a big deal! Thanks for watching!

Good philosophy on preparation, should see you right. As a more "manly" sized rider, the flat lanes of Essex look like my kind of place. 👍

Thank you, beautiful ride. Good luck with PBP
Cheers Ian. Are you riding it too?

Nice one....
Thanks John

Thanks! Yes, it’s all in hand and they’re being good about it, I’m just waiting for the replacement camera now, so should be all ok in a few days.
GoPro offer accident replacement on all their cameras, I believe
Yes, they're being very good about it so I expect to be back in business very shortly (just waiting for replacement to arrive now)
What is PBP

For free
But sadly it's not a free service! They're good at honouring the 'no questions asked' bit as long as you pay your money...
