Got a fake Pro Controller recently. Here's what I gathered with respect to the video. TL;DR: Just weigh it! But yeah, HD Rumble kids, HD Rumble. Keep reading till the end for a little testing trick some people might not be aware of. *OUTSIDE* Mine had none of the issues: (except for one) - Stick ridges _do_ go all the way - Print on buttons is completely fine - I couldn't quite see any of the details on the battery, so I'm counting it as similar-looking - The "THX2 ALLGAMEFANS!" print was correct, though maybe a bit more on the silver-ish side (rather than the expected gold look) → Besides the color, the print's typeface is also supposed to be pixelated, which it wasn't in the video, but it actually was fine on mine. However, one difference was still present: the prints on the back are still elevated compared to the rest. It _was_ indeed much less flat than real controllers. *FEEL* One of the more obvious distinctions on the fake one I got was the feel. Buttons were significantly stiffer and required more strength to press down. That resistance applies to all 4 face buttons and all 4 D-pad buttons, but plus/minus/home/capture buttons also felt noticeably snappier/clickier than the real thing, which threw me off. Official buttons feel mushier but are also more comfortable to press down in my experience. *FUNCTIONALITY* I was shocked to see that the following were supported: - NFC (amiibo) - Gyro But there was _indeed_ one thing missing… Yeah, one somewhat consistent way of telling if a Pro Controller is fake is its complete and utter lack of *HD Rumble.* I was first able to tell in normal games, but here's a cool trick to INSTANTLY tell if you have proper HD Rumble: → *_Super Mario Bros. Wonder!_* The game's SECOND LEVEL features colored blocks which make musical notes when walked on. If you turn off game sounds, your controller ALONE should produce some music when stepping on those blocks. That will obviously only work with an official Pro Controller, as well as official Joy-Con controllers, though these ones need to be DETACHED from the console in order for it to work. (In case this doesn't work for you even with a controller you know _for sure_ is official, check your game's settings as well, as the "Vibration" option has a mode where sound can be disabled. Set it to strong vibrations and it should work, or any non-disabled mode where sounds aren't turned off. Still keep your speakers' sound off, though, that'll let you hear it better.) It may be possible that some other controllers got better at it, though (check Reddit as well!); some may sort of emulate/have HD Rumble. At any rate, not having HD Rumble made the controller LIGHTER in the end: with ~220g whereas an official controller is an expected ~250g.
@@triasardi1575 : Hey, I actually ran into another fake one since. The weight was actually correct at around 250g. The flaws that held true were still the lack of HD Rumble and the non-flush/non-smooth text on the back.
@@nouche wait what..so even the fake got the update😅..now i'm really worried coz i've just bought procon yesterday n since i don't have mario wonder can't make sure that i buy the real or fake one Now if compare HD Rumble with joycon,it should 'rumble' exactly like it right..

Even HD Rumble might not be perfect (some Redditors actually said they saw fakes that somewhat had it), but it should be good enough of an indicator. You can indeed compare it with Joy-Cons-detach them first and put them on the grip for a good comparison. Use any old game that supports HD Rumble (1-2-Switch and that dedicated minigame for example; or Smash, Mario Kart, Zelda… if you know what it’s all supposed to feel like in those, keep your Joy-Cons closeby for comparison). And also look for the criteria in the video. Especially the text on the back. Check HD Rumble. Weigh it for good measure (should be roughly 250g).
this is a really interesting test, i just did it with my xenoblade chronicles 2 pro controller from 6 years ago. i was basically 100% sure it wasnt a fake but still always thought that maybe, just maybe i got a fake that was severely ahead of its time. the mario bros wonder test did indeed work tho so thats 1 more reason to not have any more paranoia i guess
Once I bought a Pro Controller that I suspected to be fake, 1 or 2 days later I found a Pro Controller being sold by an official supplier and only a little more expensive, so I ended up buying it too and comparing. What was clearly different was indeed the HD Rumble. To test it simply go into the "Controllers" menu in the main screen, then go to search for controllers. There you can use the dpad/analog to choose which controller to test and then press/hold A to make it vibrate. A real Pro Controller will make a sound just like the original joycons when they vibrate. Otherwise it's a fake one.
The PCB is a vastly different print as well, cips their placements, the fake has the brass lookijg squiggly thing printed in the top right corner, the differences are endless on the Board
