  • I spent 3 nights on Jeju Island in South Korea. The only way to get around the island if you don’t have an international driver’s license or know someone, is to take the bus. And the conclusion: it’s totally possible! Don’t let only commuting by bus transportation discourage you from visiting Jeju! I include some tips, but feel free to ask me questions! #southkorea #jeju #solotravel #korea

    Thank you so much for sharing this experience. I'm leaving for a solo trip to SK in less than a month, and still debating whether to do Jeju by bus (or maybe as a group tour). This gives me confidence to give it a try solo, as I usually prefer doing things on my own schedule.

    HELLOO!!! Thanks for vlogging your experience, did not know transport is this confusing so it is really giving me some time to prepare for my solo trip. This is my first time soloing and in KR and would like to know how dining in restaurants is like alone. Is it normal and are the restaurants OK with solo diners? I really want to eat things like kbbq and restaurant food but since Im going to be alone and a little worried being turned away.

    • @RoseanneDucut
      @RoseanneDucut  Год назад +1

      Hii! The bus system in Jeju gets easier with more time! I ate alone most of the time and never came across any issues. But I did try to eat at non-rush hours so it wasn't too busy like right when the restaurant opens or a few hours after busy hours. I never ate at a kbbq place so I wouldn't know! But lots of travelers and locals eat by themselves!

    I'm planning a trip to SK in September and I think I'm going to skip Jeju. I only have 12 days for the trip in total, I don't want to rent a car (expense), I'm also vegan so I don't eat seafood and I come from a country with beautiful beaches already. Thanks for the very informative video, I enjoyed watching :)

    • @RoseanneDucut
      @RoseanneDucut  Год назад

      Yeah it was definitely harder to eat vegan in Jeju~ Think I'm going again this month to try more hiking, hoping it'll be better. Have a fun trip! Seoul alone could eat those 12 days up!

    hi roseanne! ahh love the vid, it's super helpful! 💗would u be able to give me some advice please LOL~I'm leaning towards taking kakao taxi/busses during my jeju trip bc car seems like a hassle but was wondering what the best plan would be with that (my trip has a lot of west and south places)...
    do you think the best plan is to just stay in 1 hotel in Jeju City close to the bus terminal the entire time?
    And if I do stay in Jeju City, does it need to be close to the bus terminal or is it fine in other areas of jeju city as long as there’s some bus stops nearby? :o
    Alternatively, I was considering spending half the trip in a Seogwipo hotel - but I’m not sure if there is an area in seogwipo that’s as good with public transportation as Jeju City (was looking into one of the jeju shinhwa resorts)
    Also was considering staying in the aewol area instead of jeju city since a lot of the stuff I want to do is around there,,, but it seems like there’s not a lot of bus stops there?
    tysm~any advice would help 😊

    • @RoseanneDucut
      @RoseanneDucut  Год назад

      Hi! Being walking distance to the main terminals in each city is definitely convenient! But I went back again recently and didn't stay near the terminal, and you're right, as long as there is a bus stop nearby it's not that bad. How many days in total will you be in Jeju? And how many days would you spend in Aewol area and how many in the south? There's a bunch of buses going around the the whole island! But some of them do take longer or require transfers. I would put in the hotel you were thinking of staying at in Aewol and put it in Naver Map, and see how long the buses will take to the different destinations you want to go to. But generally, a hour ride to most places is common.

    • @RoseanneDucut

      Hello ~ there are many buses from airport to the Jeju Bus Terminal. Use Google or Kakao Maps, but staff can also help! Taxi is also cheap and only takes 10-15 minutes.
      From Jeju Bus Terminal take a bus or taxi to your hotel. My hotel was only 15 minute walk to bus terminal.

    • @RoseanneDucut
      @RoseanneDucut  Год назад +1

      I only took taxi to and from the airport, but in the main Jeju City it's easy to flag one down then took buses around. In more remote tourist spots I didn't really spot white taxis. If you're able to, I rec'd downloading Kakao Taxi or hire one for the day. Good luck!
