    As a proud American the comments posted here sadden me. In truth, I would like to apologize on behalf of my counterparts who have taken to name calling, insulting, and generally degrading the rest of the world because they have failed to evolve with the times. It is truly unfortunate that many millions of Americans have lost their jobs to outsourcing, but the response to that should be evolution of our economy, increased educational opportunities and job training to make us more competitive. The response should NOT be insulting parts of the world which are experiencing their own industrial revolutions much as the US did in the early 1900s.
    (And before you flame away, consider that I worked for over a decade as an auto mechanic and then returned to school for an engineering degree. If I can evolve, so can you.)

They don't realize 29% of the world's ship tonnage comes from South Korea and that is not because of cheap labor but because South Korea has the largest steel industry in the world. In fact, ship builders are not minimum wage workers. They are high paying highly educated field in Korea. Average Korean shipbuilders have higher wage than European or American shipbuilders. These Danish people don't realize South Korea and Japan build thousands of 800,000+ tone ships

    Amazing work. With Emma's hull halfway complete she needs to be moved. Behind her are two vessels which just got commissioned with their bottle bash and need to be towed to the outfitting pier so Emma's bow can be installed. To do that Drydock 2 has to be flooded and Emma has to be towed out and turned around so the two ships can leave Drydock 1. Once they are gone Drydock 1 is flooded and its gate is removed so Emma can be brought in then they drain it and build Emma's bow in Drydock 2. Once both sections are complete both docks will be flooded again and the two sections joined before the final flood and the bottle bash and Emma's first voyage out of Korea.

    • @jacquesblaque7728
      @jacquesblaque7728 4 года назад +4

      Stowage plan is much more complicated than that, requiring much computer time. Once loaded containers receive much external cross-bracing to tie them into blocks. Stowage requirements: facilitate efficient offload, maintain ship stability/trim, separate incompatible cargoes, provide power to reefers and allow them airflow, place branding outboard (j/k there).

    I am confused. According to the narrator, the world's largest ship has two engines of more than 40,000 horsepower each. In checking a Nimitz class aircraft carrier, the internet says it has more that 260,000 horsepower. So, are both numbers correct?

But go ahead try to make every internet comment a fight so you can feel better about your lack of a personal life.

      well, there are also countries that don't allow nuclear powered aircraft carriers to port. for example New Zealand doesn't allow such ships in their harbors.

      Probably Maersk's own "then"-shipyard in Denmark "Odense Stålskibsværft" designed them. Same who designed the two fregate-classes "Absalon" and "Esbern Snare".
