Just wanted to let you know how incredibly helpful & beneficial to the ds community these videos are! I've always been thinking it would be cool to line up tracks in albums so that the keys move about the circle of fifths, or there's a nice cadence between the ending/start notes, but I always end up moving the tracks around / throwing away half of my tracks, so I haven't been able to do it, yet - it's cool to know that other people are thinking that deeply about albums, too :)
Man, I just started to dig into the world of dungeon synth, trying to come up with my own stuff, and these videos are incredibly inspiring, thank you very much! Gotta respect the burp sample tho!
Hey, I wanted to thank you because your videos are so helpful and inspiring, and it is so relaxing to watch them. Love it, I just found out your channel, and I want to watch and listen all of your content !
That's great to hear. Once I get my subscriber count up a little more I might try to do a livestream where I just let people make suggestions and actually basically collaborate that way!
gonna be making some of this i’ve noticed a rise in this genre as well recently im planning on combining this with some wide trap drums and ultimately become a fusion of rap and dungeon synth rapping in the perspective of a wizard or sum crazy stuff like that sounds bonkers might be but i think it could be a cool project if i pull it off in a non corny way
I think it lends itself great to that. Look up "crypt hop" to hear a few attempts others have done, there was a compilation with that theme a few years ago that had some cool ideas on it.
Hey Francis, not sure if you ever check these comments since this video is so old, but I wanted to thank you for the tutorials, they definitely help when it comes to mixing and mastering DS (my own project Witch's Amulet on streaming services) wouldnt sound as decent as it does without your tips. What I'm wondering though, is if you happen to know any decent free VSTs for DS brass and horns? A lot of the classic 90s stuff was very brass heavy but a lot of the VSTs and soundboards I've found just dont hit the mark, even my beloved Roland 1080.
Hi! Thanks for the comment. To be honest, I still haven't found a DS brass VST I'm totally happy with, but I have gotten some cool sounds from soundfont libraries loaded into Sforzando, which is a great free soundfont player. There's a bit of a learning curve to load them up the first time, but it should be easy to find a tutorial on it (I think I may have done it in another video or a livestream, happy to try to dig up that link if you can't find anything else on it). Good luck!
Ctrl+D on Windows, Command+D on Mac. If you open the actions list from the action menu, you can search for actions and what key commands they're mapped to (and remap them if you want!). So in this case, you could look up things like duplicate, paste, loop, etc, and see all of the key commands that are mapped to similar features and possibly customize things to fit your preferred workflow better.
What DAW are you using? There's likely to be something good that's built in, but if not, my favorite free pad synth vst is this one: vst4free.com/plugin/286/ And my go-to for dungeon synth that isn't free is xpand!2, which often goes on sale for ten dollars or less.
@@f_c_r_ thanks will try them out! I’m using FL studio “producer edition”, pretty new in making music I usually get stuck between finding the right sound and composing it
@@lokewesterbring FL seems to have a lot of really good built in sounds! Try searching RUclips for "how to make a pad on FL studio" or something, and I bet you'll be surprised by some of the built in stuff :D

I do it all the time! I actually often rerecord songs in new keys to make sure that can happen on my albums that I go into more detail with.

Haha you can turn anything into a creepy sample with that method so I like doing silly stuff with the idea 😅
This is great. Listening at work. It's like The Joy of Painting for gothy nerd producers.
That was the goal! Glad you liked it 😁

Awesome, thanks so much for stopping by!
Thank you for making these types of videos, I feel apart of the project even tho I’m watching you make it.

@@f_c_r_ that’s a rad idea! I’m totally about that. It’s gonna be cool to hear that end result for sure.

Many thanks and hails from Brabant!
I had fun making them and more will be on the way soon!

@@f_c_r_ thank you for the reply, I’ll look into that
What's the hotkey you hit at 18:25 btw? (to duplicate the Big Drums track) I've only figured out how to get things to paste at the time cursor

Hi! Love your videos, they reveals help and inspire me, any suggestions on a VST with good pads preferably for dungeon synth?

Kind of mad you didn't record the burp to use as a sample.
I did though! It's in the final track, I just slowed it down a bunch.
@@f_c_r_ Apologies, I should have had faith.
