I studied and grew up here from 1960 to mid 1980. I have home here but now live in Canada. During 1960's there was no Mohali and Panchkula and south end of chandigarh was sector 20 and beyond that were villages and farms. There were few cars, most people conveyance was cycle. During that time there was no pollution, and was not congested like it is today.

I visited the city in the 2021 dec. Really the city has a vibes. Well planned and clean city. I enjoyed staying there.
This is beautiful city, in fact other MC must learn from it. Designed & built by French architect. If compare with other 4 metro cities, Chandigarh is best.

that was a sukhna lake in the begining and its parking area across the road... i have done schooling from there and a punjabi too.. now it has now become sort of congested. it was indias first prime minister pt, nehru ji's vision that chandigarh came in to being as a capital of punjab,(now haryana too), since its original capital lahore went to pakistan after partition. come enjoy d city beautiful.

I visited two months back. You missed the Rose Garden, Rock Garden, Elante Mall. Such a beautiful city it is. Will visit again soon. Lovely city. Loved Sector 17 underpass where everyone performs different activities.
It's all about keeping your surroundings clean. Even simple town looks awesome when it's clean. So hope all indians atleast learn to keep public places clean.

Back in my early 20’s sector 17 was our favorite hangout spot,we loved music world and eating lunch at hot millions those were the best days of my life.I miss you so much chandigharh.
*The problem with Chandigarh is the need of development of More Job Creation for people on various sectors. Unlike cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, Chennai... Chandigarh has scope for developing it's Manufacturing & Service sectors
*Chandigarh has developed it's IT outsourcing sector well ahead of cities like Beijing
*Since Chandigarh is in Trijunction of 3states, major govt bodies & boards function there thus giving more employment
*Its IT parks are musrooming slowly to get companies like IBM, TCS etc
I gues there was even a talk on Chandigarh Metro train operations but it was dropped due to it's non-feasibility
It will get overcrowded if all that happens & ganga migrants will fill up Chandigarh like they did Delhi. And then they will also bring their politics to Chandigarh

Every city.. Bhopal chandigarh ,indore. jaipur n lucknow etc are very modern and beautiful but ppl r mad over mumbai Bengaluru n delhi.. I know it's because of job opportunities but majority people just wanna go there due to hype that has been created .. Our govts must also do marketing of these beautiful not so popular cities so that those 3 cities r not overcrowded in future and population is balanced in every state equally.
