    “I swear in the name of the Republic” is a line that goes hard to be honest

      Thank you! The animation is a work in progress, and we're trying to see what we can do improve it. This is the best we can do for now.

      Yes, a devout Catholic and an ardent monarchist. Socially he was quite conservative, though interestingly he was very supportive of women becoming increasingly well educated, and in particular increasing involved in science.

    I didn't expect freemasons to be involved. Nor this unique kind of animation. Is the animation going to change each episode? Is this a 'each episode a new style' kind of series?

    • @veritasetcaritas

      I am so glad someone picked up on the Freemason imagery! The imagery is changing This reboot of the series is a work in progress, which is why the animation style is changing. My animator is currently working on rigging heads to movable bodies so the characters can escape the uncanny valley. But continuing with the 2D images I used orignially is just impractical. The 2D stills don't have an uncanny valley effect, but there are only two ways to get them.
      1. Bespoke 2D illustrations of historical characters based on original photographs cost US$150 each. I originally spent US$700 on two episodes when attempting to get this series started, and it became very clear that was simply unsustainable. Bespoke 2D art is for wealthy people, not a tiny unmonetized channel like mine. Creating these three episodes has already cost me around US$1,200 including content paid for but ultimately not used. Each episode is costing around US$250 for what you see.
      2. Use AI to create 2D illustrations of historical characters. You can imagine I have my own feelings about that, and you can also imagine the criticism it would invite.

    The heads are too uncanny. It's in that uncomfortable area of too real but not real enough

    • @veritasetcaritas

      We're still in a transitional stage. We're hoping that when we add fully rigged bodies which move with the heads, it will look more natural.

  • @SomasAcademy

    I must be honest, I find the 3D work to be deep in the uncanny valley, and much preferred the simpler 2D stills with minimal animation. I had trouble watching this one because the facial animation filled me with a deep sense of discomfort.

      Yeah I know what you mean, and it's something I hope to correct in the next iteration. This reboot of the series is a work in progress, which is why the animation style is changing. My animator is currently working on rigging heads to movable bodies so the characters can escape the uncanny valley. But continuing with the 2D images is just impractical.

    As an anarchist, what is your opinion on gun ownership and the Second Amendment?

    • @veritasetcaritas
      @veritasetcaritas  4 месяца назад +1

      I'm not a fan, since gun rights and the Amendment require an authoritative social structure determining who is armed and who isn't.

    • @ChaoLien_2
      @ChaoLien_2 4 месяца назад +2

      @@veritasetcaritas Who would be determining the social structure? What if you just allow everyone to be armed? In an anarchist society, how else would people defend themselves if there is no law enforcement? I generally had the impression that most anarchists were pro-gun-rights.

    • @veritasetcaritas
      @veritasetcaritas  4 месяца назад +1

      @@ChaoLien_2 I think the people who want guns believe they are going to be determining the social structure, which is exactly why they want the guns. Look at the US for example. The argument is constantly made that US citizens need guns to defend themselves from their government, but they overwhelmingly use their guns against each other. It is very clear they aren't buying the guns to defend themselves against their government, they are buying them to attack each other
      Instead of talking about gun rights and who gets to have guns and who doesn't, as an anarchist I am more interested in building a society in which people don't need guns. I am suspicious of anyone who is more interested in bulding a society in which people need guns to supposedly defend themselves against their neighbors or against some authority in their own community.
