As a momma doing obnoxious amounts of research for my first year homeschooling. This was SO SUPER helpful !! My kindergartner is super into astronomy which can be tricky to handle and be faith based !!
We love it! The experiments get done at our co-op, which is soooo helpful. The only thing I don’t like is that I’m kind of stuck doing whatever book my co-op decides on... but it’s still so good!
Thank you so much for the review! We are homeschooling our grandchildren! This is our second time around and I love all the new things! We have a third grader who wants to do Astronomy, ninth grade who chose Land Animals, and tenth grade for Anatomy! Are there any videos or good RUclips Channels that have engaging creation science videos you can recommend! It’s a lot when they are on three different curriculums but we like to give them a choice because they learn much better!
So just a couple of things 1) I love that your letting them choose they will get so much from that I’m sure 2) I just want to make sure you know that the land animals is geared to 6th grade (or 7th) and under. It may not matter to you and that’s ok I just didn’t want you to be surprised if it didn’t meet the highschool requirements 3) we like Answers in Genesis videos and National Geographic kids has some great ones too
I cannot for the life of me find the experiment kits your talking about. This was exactly why I was going to choose sonlight over apologia but if They provide a kit then it is an easy decision for me to make! May you add a link to the description box. Thank you or reply to me with the link! Thank you so much for this video!!
I struggle getting through astronomy, I tried two years now and just can't get past the first chapter for exactly the same reasons you mentioned 😭 lol my oldest is 2nd grade now and I'm thinking I'm going to take your suggestion and push through. I tried switching to another curriculum and I just don't like the layout of other ones. Apologia just speaks to me lol. Maybe I'll look into the CD, I already do so much reading aloud. Also I don't think I will pay as much attention to the notebook journal... I'm the trip who has to check off list and honestly by time we get through other subjects my daughter really doesn't want to do more copy work or color or things like that. Maybe just draw me a picture I'm thinking and jot a few notes, a little narration? Idk she is my oldest so she is my guinea pig.😂
Elizabeth Manning that’s exactly what we are doing this year is they each have a sketch book and they just draw and or write something they learned about
The new editions include updated information and better layouts. So for most of the units I would say you could use an older edition and it might not be as updated and that's fine but for the space unit I highly recommend the new unit as many things have been discovered or changed since the original book was written.
Interesting! How long does it take you to do each book approx? And how long do you spend each day/week on it? Looking into this for my second and fifth grader..
hello! I am looking at Apologia for the next fall. I have 4 kids with my oldest being 6 and then 4.5, 3.5, and baby. I love having group learning and need something open and go. Would you recommend this for these ages?
That is on the younger end so it may depend on the kids. If you do start with apologia I would recommend starting with the astronomy it is one of the ones the recommend for the younger ages. I love this program so much and think it could be great for you but if it were me personally I would wait one more year.
Yes you could. For a 7th grader I recommend the anatomy book as it’s one of the more challenging ones from the young explorers series. That being said you could use any of them and if desired could always just have them do additional reading or research on the topic at hand if you wanted to make it more challenging. Also I didn’t mention it in this video but Apologia does have a series for older grades as well so lots of options depending on what you want.
Would it work to do this with a 1st and 8th grader? I have such an age gap! Thinking I could do extra for my 8th grader but I’m afraid it will be over my 1st graders head….
It would definitely work for both of them. Yes just have your 8th grader do a little more. I would recommend one of the animal ones or earth science bc those can be gone more in depth but aren’t information overload for younger students.
Personally, my 7th grader did apologia general science this year, and will do physical science in 8th which will set her up nicely for biology with apologia in 9th grade. I can’t imagine trying to teach simultaneously with my younger twins (7.5 years old) I’m curious of you tried to school your 1st & 8th grader together, and how that went if so. I am however considering choosing one of these (or perhaps science in the beginning) to do with my 2nd/3rd graders and my 6th grader. I love that it gives the option for youngest, older and oldest assignments with science in the beginning.
Did u end up using it for both your 1st and 8th grader? I'm considering lumping my children next year together in botany...they'll be in 8th, 7th, 5th, and 2nd so I'm wondering how that worked out for u? Last year we used their flying creatures study and we just finished up TGTB space science and are finishing up geology so I thought botany would be a good unit to do next. 🤷♀️

Oh good I’m so glad!!!
Our oldest daughter has gone through 11 years of Apologia science..next year physics! It’s been great curriculum!!
That is awesome. I used apologia as a student when I was homeschooled and I loved it too.
We love it! The experiments get done at our co-op, which is soooo helpful. The only thing I don’t like is that I’m kind of stuck doing whatever book my co-op decides on... but it’s still so good!
Yes we have started doing our experiments at co-op too which is awesome because then they actually get done lol.
Great info! Thanks for sharing your review!
Glad it was helpful
this is my first year homeschooling, and we chose apologia astronomy. my children are pre-k, 1st,3rd,and 5th im so excited to see how this goes.
We are doing Astronomy this year too! Hope it is a great year.
We love Apologia! I’ve used all the book now, taught them at the coop.
That is awesome.
this was so helpful! We are just starting out and I've been having a hard time knowing how to choose which book to start with
So glad this could help
We did the astronomy our first year homeschooling, we took a year off apologia but now we are back and using human anatomy with my oldest, hes in 5th.
Diary of a Homeschool Mama that’s great. I am looking forward to doing astronomy with my kids.
Diary of a Homeschool Mama do you like it I’m torn between TGATB science or aploagia

Thank you so much!!! Your video was very helpful

@@LifeintheMundane this is the unit I’m looking into so that is really good to know! Thank you! And thank you for your content, it’s so helpful!
@@lindsayrosas5678 So happy it could help
I feel like I missed the part where you give which order they go in.. could you please fill me in with a time stamp or something?
You can go in any order but they typically recommend starting with Astronomy or Botany. Another good one is Earth Science.
@@LifeintheMundane ok thank you!

We do science 3 days a week and finish one chapter every two weeks. We go through one book a school year this way.
We just started using Apologia Astronomy 2nd Edition.
That is what we will be doing in the fall. The kids are so excited about diving into space.

I have been looking into this, but I haven’t committed yet. I love that this is Christian based science
Yes that is one of the things I love about it.
