Using a dubbing loop for form collars, is a very slick way to make dense collars with no extra bulk. Removing the hide from fur or the stem from a feather, drastically reduces bulk and makes for very clean tied flies. The dubbing loop technique can be used with Rabbit, CDC, Deer Hair, Fox, EP Fibers and just about anything you can jam in a dubbing loop! Great for all streamer and nymphs!

I found this method to be superior than the hide wrap method. Dubbing wax helps too.

Have you thought of starting your rabbit strips material at the eye of your hook so the material is not so bulky?
