I'm old person now and no longer live in Sheffield. I really loved the City when I was young. Just at the traffic lights at Darnall is now a light shop this was a Cinema at the time though it was called Darnall Cinema it was either called Little Dicks some times and the other name was The Bug Hut. I work occasionally in the Darnall Liberal Club occasionally behind the bar but was the resident DJ from 1975 until 1984. The Libs was one of the best Working Men,s Clubs in Sheffield. The community was really down to earth and lovely people, at Christmas time it would take over £30.000, a really busy Club. It was a sorry day it burnt down as it was the heart of Darnall. Thank you for the memories.

There is only one Main Road, from the bridge (where it connects with Handsworth Road) it runs down the hill crosses Prince Of Wales Road, though Darnall terminus and turns right opposite Station Road (at the junction with Staniforth Road), then continues to the junction with Catley Road and York Road where it turns left to go passed where the Darnall Lyric cinema used to be and on to become Darnall Road.

      Very true!
      Apologies - my mistake
(think it was because my Mum lived on Broughton Road!)

@@SheffieldVideos Apology not required but, coincidentally, my daughter also used to live on Broughton Road -three houses from the bottom fronting on to Penistone Road. Great stuff on old Darnall - lived there till the early 1960s. So sad to see its decline.

    Thank you for this video.....

Tell me if Darnall is a good place to raise a kids? These days? I've been offered a property there, but compare to London there's a major difference. However I'm jst concerned about crime rate an if its truly a safe community.... thank you in advance x
