Found out it was this detector, that the previous tenant had left in the house I now rent. Been chirping on and off for 2 days. Was going to smash it with a hammer, as I couldn't make it stop. You have saved the day and my ears. So well appreciated :)
I put it bottom of garden last night this morn it was back on my doorstep?? yes neighbor 100yds away came into my garden and brought it to my door grrrrr

What is battery type?
It is non replaceable. The sensors have a finite life so battery designed only to last this long

This worked for two hours then the b....... went berserk...Can I hammer it to death?
Sounds like you did not manage to get it the switch fully disengaged as that switch isolates the battery so it cannot alarm or beep
You can also open up the unit and take the battery out from inside.
