How do you only have 3.4k subs?! I thought I just hadn't heard of you before and expected you to have a few hundred thousand at least. Honestly, this was a fantastic video, I hope the algorithm picks you up!
@@sebpic_ There is a new luxury train in Italy, the Orient Express Dolce Vita, whose cars look like this. Amtrak issued an RFP earlier this week for a new long-distance fleet, perhaps they will take some inspiration from this beautiful car.
@@JuanSanchezGuerra While the RFP is not public, so we don't know exactly what Amtrak is looking for, we can assume they likely aren't going to go too luxurious and will instead opt for utilitarian. Which makes sense for AmTrak as they're on a tight enough budget as it is, new sleeper cars for the next 30-40 years is a lot of capital investment, so they'll likely look to again maximize space/utility in the size/budget they're given.
@@MichaelNKaboose I was referring more to the modernity and sleekness of the car's design, not so much its luxuries. That being said, apparently Amtrak is taking the opportunity to create various fair/configuration levels offered on sleeper cars, perhaps some of the nicest offerings might have some nice touches like seen here.
Yes, you can tell this train trip was done during the Fall, with the tree leaves turning from the color "green" to the colors "yellow and orange" (smile...smile).
Aside from roads, including the truckers, bikers snd coaches (buses) on the freeways and interstate highways in America, I see a resurgence in the US railroads being used increasingly for passenger trains going forward, as flying and air travel gradually begins to fall out of favour, just like here in the U.K. and Europe
With the inconvenience of airports and the heavy traffic and bad drivers on the freeways and interstates, I'm surprised not more people are taking to the rails!
Ride a train for a short ride the rest of the time parked..the dome car was very nice..at the same time its so expensive to hook them up and move..ive looked into them..and even on sidings its very expensive the railroads want to rip you off for everything and my grandfather ran the bar car and dining car for northern pacific for 40 years i traveled with him on many trips from mpls to seattle and back...
One day I would like to take the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul ! 5 days on the most prestigious train in the whole wide world. And may be run into Hercule Poirot !!
There is no set cost, each car and room has it's own pricing depending on how long you're on the train and how many guests there are. It can vary significantly, but at minimum expect several thousand dollars per person. The cars are often available for private charter as well, though those costs get prohibitively expensive for any sort of vacation style journey for the average family.
Yes as mentioned this is just an example of a private train trip. The price depends on many factors please refer to the links provided in the description for more info :)
This compares well with many of the sleeper trains in Russia & Eastern Europe and also with many cruise ship cabins, in the days before flying and air travel. Given issues around climate change, carbon footprint and all of the other hassles around flying, I suspect that these will come back into favour far more so than any Japanese innovations, even more so than high-speed rail travel
Thank you, Seb, for joining us on our 4th running of the American Autumn Explorer!
Thanks for having me!!
AWESOME! I love these private rail cars! Great video, Seb!
Everyone is unique! Thanks buddy!
Thanks Seb! Great work! So very glad you rode with us.
Thanks for having me bill! I had a blast!
Why did they get rid of the autumn colors express?
@dillonohlemiller401 The Huntington WV to Hinton ACE was a victim of excessive insurance requirements and Amtrak fees.
Hell yeah, I love these old trains. So much history, and good people behind it, doing their best to keep it alive.
Yes all the people were so lovely!!
It's nice to see these old trains restored. Modern trains are not nearly as nice!
I’d love to put this ride on my bucket list. Sounds like a lot of fun.
It really is!!!
Thank you for letting us ride along on the private train in America. We enjoyed it very much.
Glad you enjoyed this :))

@@sebpic_ there used to be a train operated by VIA called The Bras D'or in Nova Scotia. I wish it was still around!
Very cool private train cars. That must have been quite the experience! I have never been on a train, so this was a nice video to watch. Thank you!
It was such a great experience! Thanks for watching :)
That Menzies Vista railcar must be the most beautiful one in the US right now.
It looks amazing! Never seen anything like it!

what time of the year was the train ride made?
It was in October when the fall colors were out!

BILL😂 it's so beautiful but it's so expensive to go to america sadly. You're so lucky
Bill is a great guy!!
Thank you!

Fantastic. ❤ Not sure if most of us could afford it. 😢

Very nice.
Oh yeah, "private trains" ☺️
🔥 but the hefty price is 😢
I wish I could go on that train.
Such a nice one!
I’ve been wanting to own a private train car. To live in it full time!
Is a membership needed to ride?
I don’t think so! You can also rent out the individual cars more info in the description

Man I would to love to travel by train. Being 7' tall definitely stops me from doing it. 😢
Damn I am 6’5 and it’s definitely doable even in tight bunk beds but 7’ is a whole other level :)
Why doesn’t Kevin sleep in his own car? We have a ball cap etiquette in America you should learn it if you travel here.
Dude, do not say final destination on a train! Lol. Remember the films?
so jealous Seb.
It was so fun!!
No mention of costs . . .
I just assume that, the price per person is about the same as a 7-day cruse ship ... but on the top level (smile...smile).

Thank you!!

Thank you for this video. You saved me from wasting my time on taking this boring moving museum. 🙏
Ah, you gotta have some love for these old amazing train cars. I'd rather stay in this than a Hilton.
😅😅😅
Did I Literally miss EVERY SINGLE MEAL in the 24hrs ?!?
