This is a great Billy build! Finding a good Billy is a pretty tricky step in any of these builds, so its cool to see how clean those Alexa enabled ones are on the inside! I like the pot to adjust tail animations too.
I love this whole idea. Would it be possible to do this on a decorative skeleton? Ya know those Halloween decorations? I got a skeleton monkey here and I wanna do all of this but with the skelemonkey. And have the components in the head and rib section. It’s mouth moves like the bass here. Wires leading off the tail. I think it’d be pretty sick.
Hey Donald! Just wanted to give you a thumbs up for the tutorial, I just finished doing my own talking billy and it works great. I actually skipped the bluetooth and audio amplifier modules and simply used a jack splitter to input the audio to the fish and to the speaker directly. One small issue I have (probably has to do with that) is that the mouth motor has a slight delay in relation to the audio signal. I've seen other talking billy's on videos and the mouth seems to move seamlessly along with the audio. Any suggestions on how to achieve this? Cheers!

Hey Paolo, that sounds a lot like my Billy build... To be clear, are you splitting the amplifier signal as an input to the microcrontroller to start animating? And using the existence of audio signal as a trigger to animate? If so it's probably a threshold in the code that isn't sensitive enough to kick off the motor animations. It could also be not enough current in your power supply making the motor slow to respond. If you want to shore more details about how it's supposed to work I'm happy to give a few more thoughts.
Hey@@BenjaminEagan, thanks for your reply! I just saw this since for some reason RUclips didn't notify me. But I've been revisiting the project to make a few tweaks and foud your comment. Yes, basically I connect a two jacks to a splitter, one for the audio and one for the billy bass. It kind of works but it's still not that accurate. But I know this isn't probably the best way to do it. I will try your suggestion, that might be the issue, yes. Also, there's a werid beeming noise coming out when the motor moves, but I think that might be a short circuit of some sort. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks
Awesome project! Do you think it would be easy to make a gag gift version of this without the bells and whistles? I just want to change the song in an old fish to a few different voice excerpts. Any tips or ideas? I’d like to reuses the original as much as possible.

The two motor version is the least common and lest produced model. writing diagnostic code and a better tutorial based on your work so its more accessible. also modeled some of the parts so people can replace some of the brittle pieces
Hi, I was wondering if you could figure out how to reprogram the 2Boom Torrent model BT488 bluetooth speaker. It has a built in really load voice that says “POWER ON! BLUETOOTH CONNECTED!” at full volume. A lot of people hate it for that. Maybe with your skills you could find a way to lower the volume or remove the voice. Thanks
Hope someone read this. Where can I buy a speaker (like in the fish, and record my own lullaby song for my children. Want to place it on a nice wood plate over the bed
