@@AnnaMaruchahad to disagree with you, Bruce also has both speed AND musicality, therefore he has to win, which I think the jury was right on to choose Bruce as the winner. Actually to me, JJ has the technique for sure, but at 17 years old, I think he still lacks the experiences of life to feel deep emotions yet. But he has many years ahead of him to mature into that and he will have a great musical future for sure. Bravo JJ!
Something nociceable about his playing: When, for instance, the storm comes in the second Ballade, he doesn't "announce" it as a startling, dramatic turning point, instead he goes into it as an organist would lead the congregation in at the beginning of each line of a hymn. There's no smackdown, but the effect is still extremely, equally dramatic, and more plastic and affecting. It's sort of a friendly way to play.
Extraordinary young man, with such natural interpretive skills. He really feels all the nuances of Chopin. His phrasing has such a flow to it. Joyful and wonderful to hear this performance. Good luck JJ Jun Li Bui !

In fact, his artistry and technique is among the best 3 in this competition.

Just BRAVO. Absolutely stunning performance. Perfect for every sounds. He pulled the best out of great bass and crystal clear Kawaii Shigeru piano sounds.
A magical (and magisterial) reading of the sonata , with the 'non tanto' of the final movement keenly respected. Bravo!
What artistry and sheer beauty in his sound. He possesses a gift for the most natural phrasing and shaping of notes. A Michelangelo and Shakespeare of piano playing.

His notes just bounce off the keys.They sparkle with joy and triumph. What a colorful imagination and super control of his technique. He is very cute too (from an elderly Chinese lady...ha...ha..).

I have to add that for me, listening to his Sonata Largo performance was a spiritual experience. What an artist! I'd walk miles to hear him play. Bravo!!!

I enjoy his presentation. Playing gently. Feel the music and every note when playing. He is trying to express the message from Chopin. Delivering Chopin’s emotion during composition over two hundreds years before… Thanks for connecting with Chopin 🙏🏻
J J is still one of my absolute favorites (along with Bruce Liu and Alexander Gadjiev), but I do think he played better in earlier rounds. We'll see how he does in the final. I just love the sparkle in his sound!

I have enjoyed it, really! Absolutely perfect technically and so deep..Such a beautiful sound. What I liked in the sonate is mysticism coupled with heroism. It was great.

A titanic performance of the Sonata #3. Li Bui is a master of his art.

@@789armstrong if you try to sing each note each phrase the piece usually gets boring but not JJ's play. He is already an artist and a magician. My idea is that a great artist great pianist makes magic for us on the keyboard. JJ already does that at age 17!!!

이번 쇼팽콩쿨은 신뢰하기가 힘든 느낌. 찾아보니 오래 전부터 이미 많은 말들이 있더라고. 이렇게 훌륭한 연주를 해 낸JJ가 어떻게 6등이고 이혁이 왜 입상하지 못했을까. 특정인들 수상과 탈락에 있어서 참 이해가 안갔지만 쇼팽콩쿨따위에 의미를 두지 않기로 했다. 공정성 따위로 기분 나빠할 가치도 없는거 같다. 내가 본 빛나는 피아니스트들만을 기억하기로.

not a good year for Op.58, it's a taxing and disorienting piece. bruce Liu is gonna win best sonata plus gold.
