Mario is the best of all time. He played hurt most of his career. He is absolutely the best. He took the whole team on his shoulders. If he was healthy and had the team that Gretzky had he would shatter all of gretzkys records. Everyone who knows hockey should agree.
i agree i am a Pittsburgh penguins fan i started watching the penguins when they got Sidney Crosby aka the next one and i saw mario lemieux play with Sidney Crosby on tv
But he didn’t. Part of it all is timing, teammates etc. Mario was amazing and all we can do is wonder what could have been. As for now Gretzky is still the best ever.
You can't be 1000 points back of Wayne and "absolutely" be the best. In my opinion he might've been the most talented, but Gretzky's work ethic to go along with his talent was second to none.
I'm a Hawks fan but Mario said it best and the end of this video when he said, "just let Bobby (Orr) bring it up (the ice) and me and Wayne will be waiting at the blue line". Classy and smart as he acknowledges who the true GOAT was.
Bobby Orr on a 3 on 3, it would be like stealing. He used to keep the puck and skate through five guys killing a penalty and keep going back and forth for 30 or more seconds. Orr is the best player ever.
That's no lie. We the B's fans of that time honestly used to look forward to shorthanded situations. It just gave Bobby a bit more room to work his magic. It was about the most entertaining hockey I've ever witnessed.
@@tomboston9669 He killed my Rangers in 1970 and 1972 in the playoffs scoring 7 goals in 6 games in the 1970 playoffs. In 1973 we held Orr to 2 points in 5 games and won the series. Looking back I'm sure Bruins fans think of 1971 and 1974 as blowing 2 additional Stanley Cups. The 1971 team was dominate with 399 goals and 121 points and then they lost in 7 to rookie Ken Dryden and in 1974 they lost to the Flyers in the Cup finals. The WHA also impacted the Bruins losing some key players like Cheevers and McKenzie and Sanderson left and when he returned was never the same player in Boston. They also lost Eddie Westfall to the Islanders in the Expansion draft and traded Fred Stanfield to get goalie Gillies Gilbert and Mike Walton jumped to the WHA.
I grew up near Boston, so you know where my loyalty and opinion reside, but Mario was one of the three greatest hockey players to ever live. And Canadians are always classy, polite, and the very antithesis of self aggrandizing. We can learn a lot.
Somewhere has to be video - Bobby, Mario and Wayne are sitting and someone made a question - does GOAT sitting here? Three of them looking each other and made a answer - no. That honour belongs to Gordie!
Anyone remember the scene in the original mighty ducks where Goldberg drops his gear and tells the hawks player just to take the goal ? That would be me if those three came down. I wouldn't even bother to try. You won't be able to follow the puck because you won't see it. You just stand and hope it hits you
Mario, would be my pick, for center ...if I were to start a team from scratch ...not Gretz ...but Mario ...he has size over Wayne ...similar brain ...but Lemieux, has that great size advantage ...Mario looks good, staying healthy
the point is everyone says mario would surpass wayne based on his avg even though based on his avg still wouldnt get him there but they dont add the fact that mario's #'s would have declined as he got older. 99 had 2000 points in his first 855 games 894 in his next 600 mainly do to injury in the 91 canada cup. and age. so you cant assume mario would have maintained his prime #'s as he got older but of course others leave these obvious points out and make ludicrous comments about wayne playing with hall of famers and playing in the 80's
@@michelseguin4698 He's a Gretzky fanboy and a serial "Lemieux " hater. He's always posting on various videos to mock and throw numbers at your face when Mario's name is mentioned in top 3 of all time. We all know that 99 put up video game numbers in the highest scoring era, but I'm more impressed that 6''4' 230 lb player could dominate like he did in the clutch a grab era despite his injuries and cancer.
He was a joy to watch, one of my favorite players of all times.
My favorite player of all time. Cheers from Finland, Mario!
The best of all time.
Lemieux, an absolutely amazing player. It would have been very exciting to see him in his prime if he played in today's game.
So many say the players from the past could not play with today’s players
@@rickrick5041😂😂😂. And more players today couldn't play in the 90s.

umm the fact that you said shattered makes me laugh no one is shattering gretzkys records
Holy crap, could you imagine those 3 today playing 3 on 3 in overtime in their prime? WOW that would be something to see!!!!!
I dont know about that. It would not last long. Give it to Orr and the game is over

Mario rocking the hair dye. Still the goat

Fantastic player but Orr was the all time best. In a 3 on 3, forget it. Orr skates around everybody.
Mario...class , class , class
There you have it! End the Goat talks Bobby Orr is the GOAT

Orr will always be number one in my opinion. Gretzky and Lemieux are a close two and three.
Class guy 👍

nah id take the guy who had 2000 points in 857 games at center
@@kidpoker9408 Your choice, I'll stick with 66 ;)
Gretzky at centre, Lemieux on the wing like the '87 Canada Cup.
Bobby often didn’t pass it off at the other blue line but went into the opposing zone first
look at playoff stat's wayne assists still crushes mario's point totals same with their head to head stat's
Mario seemed quite likeable in this interview. I had always thought he was a bit aloof, but see here that I was wrong.
Can you freaking imagine?
What 3 would they play against?
Larry Robinson, Alex Ovechkin, Guy Lafleur
Sergei Fedorov, Darius Kasparaitis, Esa Tikkanen
Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard and Mark Messier.
I bet these players have meetings and sit around in a circle to bask in each other's glory to talk about how great they are
Lemieux was when hockey was great.
The NHL is so bad now I don't even watch it anymore!

Just saying
