Nitro beer is for some reason not my favorite but this was a really cool video that helped explain the process and reasons for using. Great job! Cheers!
Hey, Just thought you might be interested, the bubbles in nitro beer actually rise very fast. They appear to "fall" on the sides of the glass because the nitrogen bubbles rise very quickly in the middle, creating a sort-of current in the glass.
Nothing better than an English cask conditioned dry hopped ale on hand pull! Nothing even comes close , looking forward to the day when the U.S. figures this out! It will change everything.
Nitrogen masks so much flavour is astonishing. If you ever have the opportunity to try side-by-side nitro/no-nitro - do it. Trying hand pumped Guinness (from a metal barrel made for nitro) made me think it was actually an OK stout.
As for what other gasses may be used in beer? I'm sure you've seen the video of the guys drinking beer gassed with Helium. Not sure what country that was in tho, but it's been around a few years
I feel like most nitro beers dull out the flavor. I've done many side-by-side and it's rare for me to enjoy the nitro version over it's non-nitro counterpart. One exception for me is Left Hand Milk Stout. That is amazing. I've also had Firestone Walker's Nitro Merlin recently and it was extremely tasty, too. Once again, another great video with a ton of information. Keep it going, brother. Cheers!

I'm not big on reds or ambers but I really enjoyed the Kilkenny Nitro. Otherwise Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout and Belching Beavers Milk Stout are quite dandy. Speaking of Milk Stouts, perhaps do a video about lactose in beer? A lot of people I talk to don't know why you would ferment with lactose of understand the notion of sugars converted to alcohol, but the sweetness from lactose not being converted to alcohol. Idk. :-p
@@Kingcommaalex if you like left hand then I think you would dig on belching beaver. I honestly think I prefer belching beavers peanut butter nitro milk stout to left hands. There's also a "Mexican chocolate peanut butter stout" that is pretty awesome. I think left hand has more offerings that I dig on, but man, the peanut butter nitro is pretty damn tasty.
@@saneneweyes6189 left hand is my fav brewery bc I’m a big sucker for nitro beer and they have one of the biggest selections in the country. But I will definitely look into your suggestions, I appreciate them. Southern tier black label beers are my second fav behind left hand (check them out if you haven’t), but 3 years later and a quick reply I appreciate you nonetheless dude and I hope you’re doing well; keep drinking good beer and have a good night!
@@Kingcommaalex @Alex King I don't think southern tier has much distribution up here in the pacific northwest - or in the west coast in general. I will have to keep a look out though. I dig on nitros for sure but in terms of general styles of beer, stouts and Belgian strong ales are my usual go to, though they both are a little heavy for summer time. Not big on IPAs. I find them pretty overrated. There are a few I don't mind from time to time but I never actively seek them out for my own consumption. Always down for good beer conversation- even if it is three years later. Cheers!
wow, very informative. I subscribed instantly. However I would heard more how the Guiness widget works, but as you said there are still lot of secrets behond it.
as a german i think nitro beer specially guiness is the most crappy beer ive ever taste,it taste like the baarkeeper put the rests from the tables into a glass, nitro beers cmon its pisswasser😂

I had a cream ale on nitro and it was amazing. I want to do a orangesicle cream ale on nitro by the Brewers best kit to make it more it a creamsicle flavor from the body and the sweet orange peel and flavor extract.
I had all the ones mentioned here and left hand stout got me too search this up because I drank one tonight but I tried a orange pale ale on nitro once and it blew me away!
IMHO all heavier beers should be nitrogenated such as stouts, cream ales, brown ales, some amber ales. CO2 again IMO suits IPA's, all lagers, and lighter ales very well
The only nitro beer I’ve ever had was Guinness. I’ve never seen another, or heard of another until this video. I love Guinness but have two issues with the bottles. They are less than 12oz (I realize only by fractions of an ounce) and that the beer is so smooth drinking, that the bottle seems to be empty when you take the cap off.😂

I am not a fan of carbonated drinks. I do not like soft drinks for this reason as well. I would often half flatten a cola before drinking it but would prefer water instead. With that said, nitro beers are the exception. Now I like those beers and ales with the nitro and am not just left with tea and water with dinner.
I tried a can of Bodingtons a while ago. The creamy head was amazing, but the actual liquid was ... well, just liquid; such an anti-climax and just bland coloured water.
@Aldaroth Thanks. It's probably my fault for 'expectations'. I'd tried quite strong Beligans before trying Bods (not one after the other) so small wonder it tastes 'flat'. I should have started with that, but I only started 'drinking' when the virus hit and I explored my way through Metro's beers for a distraction.
@Aldaroth Ah, I'm Scottish but living/working in Shanghai. Yeah, I heard you can nitro almost anything and it tastes better. I'll keep my eye out for the N-Bud. Good tip, thanks.
I have never understood why people like Guinness. I can't stand the stuff. It has zero flavor. Tastes like it's 50% water. Nitro really does play a part in that. I'm a snob. I am. And nitro beers always strike me as something that only bearded hipsters with man-buns drink. Give me a beer that's so thick with flavor I need to chew it.

Absolutely! I'm picking more up today. Not a fan of their white russian one but the milk stout is amazing.
Unbelievable quality and information.

Bellhaven Scottish Ale... Hands down the best nitro ever!
Agreed. Also like the Wexford they sell at BevMo.
A lot of great information. Your knowledge of beer and your ability to express that knowledge is impressive.

I propose the use of Nitrous oxide (N2O), more commonly referred to as laughing gas for that extra fun factor.
Great explanation my friend. The Halloween story was fantastic as well.
Awesome video! Just curious, who did invent "nitrogenated" beer if not Guinness? I always thought Michael Ash invented it.
