Leave it to DC and WB to take one of 2 billion dollar movies (Joker and Aquaman)...and make all the worst possible decisions for the sequels. This will be lucky if it breaks the 300 million mark.
Truth be told, Aquaman 2 was always going to flop regardless of whether or not Amber Turd was in it or not or if the movie was good or bad cause at that point no one cares about the Dceu. It was long dead.
As much as I love Phoenix, I won't see it because mainly because of Lady Gaga, why does she have to be in everything. She's genuinely effortlessly over rated.
Like he mentioned it never made sense age wise that Arthur was ever the villain joker. He wouldn't been in his 70s by the time bruce wayne was in his 20s. I think it's fine if he gets killed. I like to think Arthur is not the real dc villain joker, but he inspired the real joker, and that maybe the guy that kills him in the end could end up being the real joker etc..
There's no way these two joker movies will be considered part of Gunn's DCU. There is no future for these characters and the sequel was only made because the first did really well, not because they had a story to tell.
This film is DOA. They have done everything to make the audience of the original film turned off, because of reasons (likely Hollywood's disdain of its target audience). Honestly this film is a joke!

Shakespeare was inspired by plays that already existed in his time. Sorry had to say the second thing, was thinking about that, but the Shakespeare thing should fit.

It's just a lazy ending in my opinion. There was no need for there to be a sequel in the first place apart from a money grab. Having Harley Quinn just makes it even more pointless, so the "real" Joker gets his own harley at some point in the future as well? Just needless.
@@dannyherbert4482 Because this is not a Batman movie, nor a comic book movie. It is revealed during a court hearing in Joker 2 that the movie actually takes place in New York City. “Gotham” is a parallel world that Arthur dissociates into to cope with his bleak existence. I have no clue how this wasn’t apparent to people from the first movie. That it’s a reimagining and recontextualization of the idea of “The Joker”, otherwise divorced from the DC universe. It seems most people who sang the first movie’s praises completely misunderstood what it was about, which is ironic, since that is what actually made it interesting, in my opinion.
I don’t think necessarily it’s bad to do concepts on big screen to do the pro jokers/endless copycat jokers to glorify the idea that Joker has no origin. But if this ending is true, it kinda makes the first film pointless if you watch both back to back especially since the first already hinted at a multiple choice backstory thing. Idk but Arthur getting killed off in the second film is kinda a waste and that girl boss breakup crap also sounds kinda cringe. They should’ve just did the Willem dafoe copycat plot instead they pitched couple years ago tbh.
Wrong movie explain that nothing was a dream everything in first movie happened and he WAS Never the Real joker 🃏 ever lol he was a fake and gets killed by the real one
@@FutureDCWarriorAction Uhm, no. He’s killed by a random inmate while awaiting relocation to death row. It is also revealed that this story takes place in NYC, and that “Gotham” is a figment of Arthur’s dissociation. Meaning, these Joker movies are divorced from the DC universe - Todd Philips’ Joker is from our world, and is a tragic and deeply troubled man who turns into a murderer. It’s bleak and unflinching. And it was never a Batman story - it simply utilized the Batman IP to sell you a non-comic book movie. How this wasn’t apparent to you from the first movie is actually beyond me.
A musical with Harley Quinn doesn't interest me. Shame we don't get to see Arthurs Joker become THE Joker after being invested in him. Still interested to see where this goes though.
I dig the fact some young buck is inspired by Arthur as an origins for the Joker reminds me of V For Vendetta - you can kill the man but not the idea... but still could have done without this movie and left Joker as a one and done.
I still think it's deception regardless. Joker 1 was marketed and promoted as this grounded origin tale for how the joker came to be. Its like yeah why make a movie called joker, set within the batman mythos if its just gonna be about some guy who goes on to inspire the real joker in a movie we'll probably never see. I just don't like it also the fact that there is also a harley quinn here. So what are you tellling me she also dies at some point and inspires a younger person to be the next harley quinn. Yeah this whole sequel was a mistake in my opinion. The first film shouldve just been a standalone left open to interpretation as i think that was a really good film.
Basically, the “Joker” is an idea, not a specific person, something already done in that awful Gotham TV show a few years ago. It’s an artsy-fartsy way of asking the audience, “Are you the Joker?”
This is one of the worst things they could've done. Instead of going deeper into madness and psychological aspects of Arthur, making Harley slowly turn into a similar type of a psycho, we got this... For me the best things they could've done are either show that Arthur can't handle this much attention, the attention he always craved and so this Joker persona makes him even more paranoid, violent, apathetic etc. Or, make it so that he really does become a leader of these "riots" because for the first time in his live people are noticing and supporting him leading to some big changes in the city. Instead he's just killed off by an apparent "real joker, fanboi inspired by all these symbols". It just devalues the joker so much. Hey, you can be the joker, you can be the joker, everyone can be joker. No, joker should be unique, unreplacable. Pathetic. And it's quite ironic because this is exactly what some people who were mad that they didn't get the master manipulator clown prince of crime were saying back then, "oh arthur is not the real joker he's gonna inspire someone else". Nah, that's crap
Making him not joker totally misses the point surely ? Surely this was supposed to be joker ? Subverting expectations again if u ask me in all the worst ways
I think one of the main reasons this would annoy people is because they watched the first movie, got invested in this character just for the second movie ta go "na he was just a nobody, he wasn't even worth your time, this other person tho...he could be cool....where most likely not continue on from here but still". It kind of feels like a low key middle finger to the people that injoyed the character and first movie which pissed off the left cause they saw it as a kind of positive pro far right kinda movie.
@@sonofyah_chosen1950 I really don't get people who say this. His demeanor and behaviour by the movie's end fully eclipsed his previous self at the start of the movie.
@@sonofyah_chosen1950No it wasn't. In fact most people watching The Batman trailer when that was released believed it was gonna be the sequel to Joker and set up a third film where these two great actors clashed. Only for that movie WHICH LOOKED VERY SIMILAR to be revealed to be yet another series reboot. Joaquin Phoenix's much older Joker would have been a great archenemy for Pattinson's Batman. Instead they went and ruined all possibility of that happening.
Yeah, you would like this garbage. That dude being joker makes the first movie and this movie completely useless. There was zero point to the whole movie and they just made us watch the life of a mentally deranged dude for no reason what so ever.
And if this would be canon it would make the real Joker just a little tw*t instead of one of the greatest villains of all time...and everything around his character that was previously so fascinating and frightening would suddenly become a fart in the wind :D I didn't even like the 1st Joker to begin with, so I don't care about this one either.
I got out of the theater. This is my take away. Arthur was the original Joker. He inspired crazier people than himself. Joker title was always bigger than Arthur himself. The film comments on that. I liked that they did here. Those who are expecting the Clown Prince of Crime are going to hate it.
This 2nd film was never needed. You didn't even have to kill him off to make it so that he's not really joker. It's its own thing in its own universe. Also Harley Quinn needs to just go away.
I agree, I don’t have a problem with this ending. The whole Harlequin breaking up Joker in the end because he’s not really the Joker doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because isn’t this movie supposed to mainly be about their “love affair?”
Harley and others were in love with Arthur, not Joker. In the first film Arthur even says “No one will care if died” The sequel goes back to that. Look how people glorified serial killers. I like what Joker 2 did.
How did Warner Bros ruin the setup of him becoming Robert Pattinson's villainous archenemy version of the Joker by letting The Batman be set in a completely different "universe" that just happened to look exactly the same to begin with? This will probably doom The Batman 2 to being average as well. EVERYONE WANTED TO ACTUALLY SEE THAT WHEN THEY HEARD THESE TWO FILMS WERE BEING MADE! "Obviously The Joker is the first film and that leads into The Batman, then in the next film these two characters played by great actors then clash after his encounter with The Riddler." And Lady Gaga(not a bad actress) could have still been Harley Quinn. How did they not set these two similar styled films in the same universe! Something tells me the writers simply got upset at being sidelined and decided to sabotage the followup.
Joker absolutely CAN become the Joker of Batman’s era, he’s just older. Also, Phoenix can be the Joker that hands the baton to his son or to another Joker. You can also make this link to one of the other films in the DC universe. It sounds like an anti-climax ending - I think this movie had the potential to be really great but it’s looking like a disappointment. I can’t believe I’m saying this but 2024 might be the year of the Penguin rather than of Joker!
Bro you sound dumb this joker was never joker it’s a movie about mental health slapped with dc characters names better yet a broadway musical somebody even said yeah if you like musical dramas good for you if your a dc fan hardcore rather you will not like these movies Batman woud literally be way to young to beef with this joker he would be in a wheelchair by the time Batman got his wings
Saw it earlier, spoilers ahead At the end of the film audiences watch as Arthur returns to prison. Harley has left him, and Arthur is seemingly coming to the conclusion that he isn’t the Joker. This leads to an Arkham inmate approaching Arthur now that he’s back behind bars. During the course of their interaction, said inmate begins telling Arthur a joke. But before Arthur can reach the punchline, this unknown inmate stabs and kills him. What is more, the killer then uses his knife to carve a wide smile on his own face, revealing that he is the “true Joker”
First 10 Minutes I was all-in 20 minutes in I knew some good stuff was about to happen 45 minutes in it looked like things were about to happen 1hr and 15 minutes in I was looking at the watch when Phoenix badly finished his singing (if you call it that) Then the movie ended and I felt trolled. Fuck this movie🖕
So because the first movie became a right wing icon the leftists turned the sequel into "not Joker but Arthur". Good to know that I don't want to watch it!
I don't remember Joker laughing as he dies. But the psycho prisoner does laugh and carve the Joker smile on to his face. It's not directly shown to the audience. It's implied. The movie spends too much time in the courtroom. The filmmakers needed Harley to break out Arthur/Joker and then they could do some mayhem and chaos.
So, he never was the Joker, I guess that was the ‘Joke’. I just last week bought a t-shirt with his image on as I’m a joker fan, but I guess it’s pointless wearing it now, which is easy for me, but not so much for my mate, as he got a tattoo of him 😬
Crazy how much these people are capable of destroying great things. As others said - the first movie was never going to be a standalone - they had to make a sequel to "own" the people that could relate to Arthur, and in turn give us more "girlboss Harley Quinn" time (F'n *enough* of her already) .
I saw the movie early at a screening at my theatre. The ending is terrible. The more I thought about it the more it didn’t make sense. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the movie. The way it happened was awful. The “Joke” told by the guy who killed him was terrible. It was supposed to be a 1 off film and him having to make another to end it messed it up. At the end of the 1st one he becomes the joker just to have it taken away in a confusing mess of a movie.
Just do a 1-to-1 adaptation of the Killing Joke or something and let the fans have something they'll enjoy for once. It's honestly like they HAVE to do something that's bad on purpose.
I thought the first movie was stupid and didn’t finish watching it. Then adding Lady Gaga and making it a musical is a clear sign it jumped the shark. Hard pass.
Movie will bomb cause it's a musical but we probably have to look at this movie as part 2 to a origin story of Arthur Fleck while the real joker copies his identity as joker
Conceptually, the ending is alright, but it kind of feels out of place versus the musical vibes of the trailer. I'm sure this film will be great visually, but it just doesn't interest me narratively.
The joker was never "canon". Only reason I liked it was cause its else worlds. Its not the "real" joker. So whatever todd Phillips wanted to do whatever. Im not paying to see this. Ill wait for streaming.
So the joker is some kid that killed the guy who invented the original persona and then became a copycat? It's interesting but I can see why some DC fans are upset.
First movie was literally just a lazy rip-off of Scorcese´s Taxi Driver & King of Comedy, that made 1 Billion $ because of a clever marketing campaign. "It´s a dangerous movie for incels yada yada..." The anti-woke crowd run into the theaters "to own the wokies", the leftist crows went to see it, because they were curious "how dangerous it is". WB got greedy and demanded a sequel. Problem: They had no frikin´ clue how to make one and just threw sh*t on the wall to see if it sticks. And that´s the result. Some artsy fartsy, musical BS with a lazy storyline.
This seems to try and play on to the Three Jokers theory, which was also not that popular. They should of just kept the first movie without making the sequel.
I mean i kinda knew he wasn't going to be the joker to face batman in the future because bruce is a young kid and bruce in the future would be fighting a joker who would just be an old man and that would be kinda dumb
The Production Big Wigs dont want two Jokers running simultaneously to each other. One must disappear. They've JUST done the same thing with the Superman character - New films coming out - the TV show must end.
This actually sounds like a very logical conclusion to the Arthur Fleck story... as long as they make another film which explores this new, "actual" Joker in his early years. And keep Harley Quinn the fuck out of it.
I think it's pretty cool honestly it's like the joker is more of a concept kinda like an agent of Chao's spreading to person to person because of one bad day it's interesting imo
I thought the pacing was a bit weird until the middle. The musical portions were great. The court room scenes with him in makeup was perfect for me. The tension hit harder than that circus gavel. But from the verdict on.. damn. It’s irredeemable for me. I just don’t understand. Joker is in the title. Joker is in full makeup on the poster art, and so is the “DC” trademark logo. No way in hell is a plane going to land on the runway if you don’t put the landing gear down WB.
You did not see this movie. Everything in this video was a lie he doesn't die from any kind of stab he dies from the explosion and he bleeds out on the ground with Lady Gaga holding his hand and kissing him
Unwatchable dumpster fire. They made it to destroy and erase the epic legacy of the first movie. The same way that they made Rey claim to be a Skywalker and a black girl delete and replace Indiana jones from history.
They should have done an origin story on the Joker. Doing a series on the man that inspired the Joker is like making two movies about Captain America's dad.
Just listned to Charlie from Emergency Awesomes review of it. He usually a positive reviewer, but when he said it was bad that means the movie is AWFUL

I have a feeling the ending is going to be him snapping out of his dream which was the entirety of both movies

That's stupid. It will flop.

How did Warner Bros ruin the setup of him becoming Robert Pattinson's villainous archenemy version of the Joker by letting The Batman be set in a completely different "universe" that just happened to look exactly the same to begin with?
This will probably doom The Batman 2 to being average as well.

And Lady Gaga(not a bad actress) could have still been Harley Quinn.
How did they not set these two similar styled films in the same universe!

At the end of the film audiences watch as Arthur returns to prison. Harley has left him, and Arthur is seemingly coming to the conclusion that he isn’t the Joker.

Crazy how much these people are capable of destroying great things. As others said - the first movie was never going to be a standalone - they had to make a sequel to "own" the people that could relate to Arthur, and in turn give us more "girlboss Harley Quinn" time (F'n *enough* of her already) .
Seriously, an absolutely lovely story. A true origin to the Joker while still keeping the ambiguity of his origin.
