    Wow this is great work! Could you please make a video on how to use acrylic as a bade for pencil colours?

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  2 года назад

      I use acrylic and colored pencils separately. I am going for longevity of my paintings and drawings, so I don’t mix the two together. I use them next to each other and allow only white acrylic highlights on top of colored pencils. Thank you for video suggestion!

    This is a stunning piece of art 💖 Beautiful. Could you tell me what paper you used for this technique (brand and specifications), please? I’d love to try this since I only draw with colored pencils so far and would like to buy the correct art supplies. Thank you and keep up your great work!

    • @ilonaxxx20

      Hey! Thank you for the nice comment. This particular paper wasn't my favourite untill some recent times. I learned to enjoy it better than others. It's Daler Rowney mixed media paper 250gsm. It's a bit thinner than The Langton, cold pressed, 300gsm, but it's more white and takes pencils and acrylics way better. I use pretty much any watercolor paper for acrylic and colored pencil artworks. I also enjoy working on canson vidalon. It's has a type of mold that I like. Not too smooth, not too rough I just stay away from 100 cotton because it soaks up lots of materials. You shall try different kinds and decide what suits your style best! I wish you lots of luck! 🥰

    Realmente hermosa tu pintura, es un estudio de lo que intentas lograr con tu arte o por que hacerlo sobre papel? Prefiero la madera , carton ,o tela, y por que utilizar colores de madera?? entiendo que logras otras texturas pero la obra completa hecha solo con acrilico no le da mas uniformidad??

    THIS IS DOPE! Because you did the face in colored pencil & the hair in paint, did you find it easier to transition & create contrast between the two or more difficult?

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  3 года назад

      Thank you! Yes, I sometimes find it kind of hard to transition that's why I always create a strict line where colored pencils would finish and where the paint would start. But in this particular drawing I blend the two together on the hands. The black tattoo part and the green paint. It worked so well. 🙃

    Will colored pencil and acrylic bond to each other and which do you put on first ?

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  3 года назад +1

      I usually don’t mix them. Sometimes I do apply some white acrylics over pencils for accents or I use pencils over acrylics for smaller and settle details. But yeah, they don’t bond because they are different media.

      @@ilonaxxx20 Thank you so much for your response…. I use acrylics but have wondered about colored pencils for highlights… This answered my question !!!

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  3 года назад

      I think that it’s best to use acrylics for highlights. When I render a face with colored pencils, I sometimes end up highlighting and further rendering with acrylics. It looks more detailed and realistic that way. Let’s say picturesque. 😀 but it’s not a very good practice as acrylics might slide away with time. That’s why I try to teach myself to paint directly with acrylics. It’s a process, and it takes time to understand what’s best for the type of work you do. 😀Hope that helps too. Sorry for answering so late. I didn’t see your comment.

    You have probably been asked this a million times but were do you get your brilliant ideas for your pictures?

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your interesting question but I don’t get it frequently. 😀 ideas come from different places. Sometimes I listen to some kind of music and I want to draw the music. That’s very hard to do because a single song contains so many emotions, so I try not to go this way because I would get stuck and lost. Another way of getting ideas coming are artworks of other people. I find an artist and check all of his artwork. There are things that I don’t realize at first but then ,when I see some methods and techniques reappearing in almost every artwork, I realize the whole another world hidden inside every picture. That’s inspiring. Besides I can use those techniques in my work later. Another way which I am enjoying lately and which is pretty hard is to read a book and recreate scenes from it. I am enjoying Gerald brom. He has some nice fantasy characters there to recreate. Usually when I have only a written idea, I make my own reference pictures. That leads to some more ideas for the future. And also when I get something in my head, I try to sketch it lightly In somewhere so I don’t forget. Hope that covers your questions. 😏☺️

    Great job, but I wish you hadnt skipped so much of the rendering of the face in the timelapse speed up. Thats the most interesting part to learn from.

    • @ilonaxxx20
      @ilonaxxx20  3 года назад +1

      Hmmm. I thought that’s the most boring part actually because it’s a very straight forward process. Light layers until it looks right. 🙈The video would take a very long time if I didn’t skip. But, I might check if there is any footage left from rendering the face. I could post it later for you if that helps.
