Im racing mudboss against Eric Salvas this winter in Montreal indoor clay! Im besides him in the pits and i allready got alot of tips and tricks from him! Sooo much fun!
I just ordered a setup from my kinda local hobby shop. Thought I would watch videos while waiting for the stuff to come in. This is a great video thanks. I. See from this vid I should order some tools.
I'm in the same boat as you. New to this hobby and I've been watching so much of his videos as well as ShortCourseWorld. Been getting great ideas from both channels. ShortCourseWorld has great ideas for organizing and does a great job explaining tools and such. OvalRC has been awesome with tips and such for the Mudboss racing. Just ordered my Slash yesterday.
@@KickinBass91 wish i had a slash but had to get a rustler last year because that all that was available at the time but im thinking of a slash conversion heard i can do it for under $100 us
I’m looking at doing a late model class and was told to go with the traxxas rustler and was curious if you had a video on a late model build. That was a great video and if I go that route I at least know now what is needed. Thank you
Strange question. Is the mud boss class restricted to the Traxxas or are there options for the SC10? If not are there classes the SC10 would fall into?
There is basically 2 groups of oval racing... Buggy chassis based (ie ... AE (most popular) TLR, Bandit) and then there are Short Course (SC) based. Same basic classes for both with main classes being a street stock type with the stock car bodies, late model and modified. These all mirror their real 1 to 1 scale racing counterparts. Now there is also the Sprint classes. Those I think are mostly buggy based and most racers prefer the AE b6 series. These classes will then be split up into sub classes based on motor limits. 17.5, 13.5 and open. AE's SR10 can often go in the buggy class stock classes too but get outmatched by the b6 chassis cars. They also have a spec class that is just for the SR10. Now the Mudboss is the class specifically for the 2wd brushed 12 t motor Slashes as a cheap beginner class to race in. But it is so popular and fun lots of people, even experienced racers run them. If you wanted to do a Mudboss style class for SC, look at Modified. This is really what the mudboss body is based off of. Ths is some of the coolest RC racing out there and easier to get competitive at vs off road track racing. Hope that all helps. I am actually going to the LHS now to buy hardware for my Slash Mudboss rebuild. ;)
Following steps but on lcg chassis matches up same but one question u took if right side guard as I did ok but on driver side did u drill hole thru guard to get screw to connect to riser post I removed driver side screw on guard I can push screw up to post but guard only has back screw holding it on I didn’t hear u mention drill hold in guard push screw thru guard and chassis and into post
just out of curiosity, why only use traxxas slash for mudboss? why couldnt i use any 2wd short course truck with a 12T titan(or any other 12T brushed motor) motor and roar approved esc? just wondering i have 2 slashes , but wouldnt it make the class bigger if other manufacturers r/cs were allowed?
Got mine finished running lcg chassis Running on carpet and slick tires which everyone is using my problem is mid corner my rear end slides to right. Any suggestions on this fix
If you race at a sanctioned Salvas Mudboss track you may need to run a Salvas Mudboss body that can be purchased on ebay. My local tracks do not require Salvas only bodies so i run the J-Body and it will be soon available online.
@@OvalRC we have 4 of em now. My son has been racing them and I just keep building and doing setups. I raced one day and just kept breaking stuff. BTW... we are allowed to cut up to 4 coils on front springs only. Just in case Imhoff wants to come up here and race...lol . Hi John 😁
why not change the frame to lower the center weight,,also per rules can you cut away any left side to move the weight to the right,,just wondering how the rules are..wanting to get into the rc oval cars,,
This video shows you how to take a stock slash and convert it to a Mudboss dirt race car. You can look up Salvas Mudboss to find the rules. Many tracks have their own rules but use the Salvas rules as kind of a baseline.. It's best to find out where your going to race and go from there, but this video will get you started.
@@OvalRC well thank you for all the info you put out there,, to bad i live so far away,,,i read the rules for mudboss class am i understanding correct you can not modify chassis or frame but you can change it to the lower centered frame,,, am i reading that correct,,,,
I think you can convert the Traxxas slash 2wd VXL brushless the same as the standard slash, but with the brushless motor you would need to race in the mudboss 13.5 class.. Check with your local track rules to be sure.
@@OvalRC no local tracks run them im trying start group up in my area trying get idea of what others are ruining got ahold of guy on mudboss fb page they said no vxl is lot faster so and cost more im trying figure it all out and have same guid lines as the rest so can maybe get something going

we have classes in the northeast called Crate late. Everything the same as mudboss except with a late model body
The body looks so close to the real car pretty impressive
Killer video man
Fantastic✌😎👍
Hello wanting to know if you can build a mudboss from a slash 4x4 lcg using the same parts that are needed to build a slash 2wd?
Will those body posts work for a lcg chassis?
Strange question. Is the mud boss class restricted to the Traxxas or are there options for the SC10? If not are there classes the SC10 would fall into?

Should you paint before or after assembly?
What motor, esc and servos are you allowed to run for mudboss?
Would this work on the nitro traxxas slash??
Can you do a late model build.
Great vid! What does the limiters do? Not allow the shock to travel as much?
Jeff Bryner yes essentially
Do you put .25 inch spacers around all 4 shocks
I try my luck. Do you know where I can find the basic pattern for the stickers with the dimensions? Because I would like to create my own stickers.
can this be done with the lcg chasis
Would like to know the part number for the duretraxx body post
do you guys run lcg chassis the one looked like it

I notice on your home made body that you had black screws on in where can I pick some of these up ?
Would I be able to do this with a slash 4wd ?
Can you make the traxxas slash 2 weel drive nitro one in to mud boss or just the electric one
Hey do you use stock radio system?

I need just screws and nuts for this body. Any idea where i can buy them?
Any info on converting to a winged sprint car?
What material and thickness would you recommend for building your own body?
These cars look fun
Thanks again.....
those mudboss bodies look awesome. if I might ask where would a person be able to one , and what is the prices? anyways super cool looking bodies.

The body used in this build is the official Salvas Mudboss body that was purchased on ebay
Can you provide a link to the 3/16 tubing you used?
Just curious what motor are you using to race?
Does anyone sell one complete? :-) I'm addicted to these now !!! LoL
Do you make and sell them to people?
Waiting patiently for set up tips to control issue like excessive body roll, or push conditions and such. Lol
coming soon my man.. had to build it first.. each week will be 2 videos, race video and a setup video. So stay tuned

Make sure you support your local hobby shop. Dont support Ebay. Then wonder why u just spent 500 bucks to race your mudd boss in your back yard!!
Do they sell the mudboss at hobby shops ?
Lol local hobby shop is usually the rip off.
Couldn't ya just use zip ties to lower the car
not really, it's illegal
Step 1 buy a slash. Step 2 throw the slash away and buy a tlr or team associated. Step 3 win races!! Lol
