..dude, your videos are fantastic..no crap music, no endless talking, but pure raw instructions, straight to the point. Thank you very much. Subscribed..
🤙🏼🤙🏼
I went from another video of a guy doing this it was all wrong he was unhooking hoses and every second comment was someone saying they followed method and got air into the lines and now their ruckus over heats so coming from that video to this one is a world of difference ahahaha
Never add music. It doesn't help. THANK GOD for this channel.
Mitch. Your videos ( this one in particular ) are with out a doubt the best instructional, we'll thourght out, maintenance type videos on RUclips, in my opinion. Thanks for that one.
Thank you Brian! Means a lot to me!
Mitch is now Smokin that Hawaiian Fruity Tutti!
I agree ! Straight 🔥🔥🔥
Of all the RUclips tutorials I’ve watched yours are the most straight forward, concise presentation of information. Thank you
Awesome! Thanks for the comment! You're welcome!
Nice video except the part with the cylinder screw. It drained out when I added the coolant. So first cylinder screw and then coolant. Good job 👍🏼
Saame i ignored my gut lol
same JUST now while im doing scheduled fluid replacement xD good wrenching
This happened to me too!!! I couldn't believe i didn't see it earlier in the comments!
Yeah this needs to be pinned, glaring omission/editing mistake had me waste a lot of coolant
Picked up a 16 Ruckus last week, spent a week trying to get rid of the bog and succeeded. Been watching your Ruckus vids. Fantastic Job Man!!👍👍
Hi Mitch, first- you have a knack for this. Exceptional, clear ,concise and not even any verbiage. Too often you see videos where the video becomes more about the narrator and less about what is in the video ( IE- more about their own ego). Not the case here and can't even think of a single point to improve it. Well Done and kudos.
Dude, your videos are the absolute best, and I hope Honda (or some other manufacturer or parts provider) is sponsoring you by now. The instructions couldn't be any clearer, the video editing and camera work is absolutely spot on, and you make these repairs seem completely possible for all skill levels, likely saving us a bunch of money in the process and extending the life and safety of our Rucks. Much respect, and I hope you have a baller summer, even if we're all bloody quarantining right now :P
Mitch you are awesome. Thank you for putting these videos out and literally teaching me and countless other people how to maintain our bikes
You deserve a RUclips Oscar for best instructional videos by a person with a heart of gold! Thanks fromus all! Jeff.
Hey thank you Jeff!
i am currently doing long neglected maintenance on 2 ruckus’s (rucki? ruckees?) anyway… your videos are the best and have been such massive help with all these tasks. thank you, thank you, 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
This was a super helpful video! Only thing I️ noticed when following it during my coolant change is that the cylinder drain bolt needs to be put back in place before you refill with new coolant. If not, the coolant fills to that level and just drains onto the floor.
Keep up the awesome videos!
Found the same thing hahah
Yup just happened to me too lmao
would have to say Honda is one of the best made...with their reliability and ease of maintenance..
Yes for sure!
Just bought a used Ruckus and these videos are incredibly helpful!
Awesome Michael! Glad to hear that! 😄🙌🏼👍🏼
I've gotta say you've got one of the best intro's to your videos I've seen in a very long time
Thank you so much!
Hi! I saw also on your channel changing the coolant to a vespa. And you were taking the air out. Here why not?
Even though I don’t have a bike, YET. Lol I love watching your videos, very well composed and entertaining
Thanks for the help. I need to service my 2016 Yamaha Zuma fx50. They look similar and there are no videos on the Zuma radiator.
This was a good video... except at the end when putting the fluid in, I ended up with a huge puddle on my floor because I didn’t put the screw on the left side in before pouring the fluid... I think you need to fix that step??
Kyle Peterson same here lol. I guess it helped clean out any dirty debris
Lol what a joke. Common sense put your bolts back on before refilling. This was a great tutorial.mitch is the man!
@@Thatyouguy_ Great tutorial otherwise but this step is in the wrong sequence in the video
I agree with the rest of the people here. Your videos are straight to the point and clear.
No muss no fuss. Straight down the middle!👌🏽
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me 🤙🏼
Done thank you I used your oil change video as well I bought a 2020 ruckus it’s one year old I’m second owner the first owner was 15 year old girl who put 8900 km on it in one year I won’t be putting more then 500km a year myself I changed the oil the first day spark the day after. Just changed the the coolant now a week into owning it I have a new air filter coming this Friday. And I guess I just need gear oil to have completed all the maintenance. I have put 3 km on it
Mitch you always come through in a pinch, thanks bro! 🛵💨
My god dude, thank you so very much for these ruckus videos. May sunny days and sweet scooters bless your world.
Anytime!! 👍🏼👍🏼
@@MitchsScooterStuff You are great man ! I just got done watching your 99$ Honda Elite purchase 80 cc what was your total cost in parts when you were finished ?
. On the coolant video (Honda Ruckus ). I did not see how you would bleed the air . I read somewhere that you need to bleed the air . ? I have a 2019 I bought last August . Already 3700 Miles on it . You figure coolant needs to be changed yet ? My carb was just cleaned by the mechanic . You Rock Man !
Josh
Hey bud, where would be a good site to pick up the new clutch and rollers for my 2016 ruckus? Enjoy all your ruckus videos. Thanks a bunch!
The ruck shop
Or scooter swap shop
@@Yourreaper666 Thanks for that info :)
Great vid but I’ll say one thing; Honda recommends Pro Honda HP COOLANT. It is extremely high quality and will be better over time.
Hey Mitch - You ever ride the Honda Big Ruckus? 250CC only sold two years in US. Just got one from a friend and it is a blast to ride.
Great video! Really helpful One question though, in the video you refill the coolant then, re screw the drain bolt. I followed the instructions but when I tried to pour in the coolant before I re screwed the cylinder drain bolt the coolant just spilled out. I had to put the drain bolt back first, then refill the coolant. Is the process different for different models?
I paid a shop 425.00 to put either a new or rebuilt carb on my sons ruckus. It started right up when I picked it up but when I got it home while it would start up in sputtered when trying to accelerate. Like it wasn't getting enough gas or maybe an air problem? This guy has his shop at this house and it took 6 months to get it back the first time. Don't want to try that again. Anything I can try to correct the problem? Thanks -Arkansas Bob
Do you have a video on how to drain the gas from a Ruckus? I bought one that definitely has old gas in it. Do you think I could suck the majority out of the fill port with a pump, or is there a drain somewhere?
Also your videos are seriously going to help me down the road. Thank you!
Thanks, Mitch. Really good job. Simple, straight-forward and very helpful.
Thank you John, glad to hear that!
Excellent and perfect for a DIY person to follow. Thank you!
What a simple but great tutorial ❤
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much! This is my first tune up, on my first vehicle, and this video was amazingly helpful! Thanks!
Whoo!!! Happy to hear! You're welcome!
Every time I go to do some work on my Burgman 400 and I'm crying loud how many covers I need to remove to finally do something, I have to make a pause and look at these videos - it looks so easy :) Great job!
Oh yeah I feel ya! Thank you Michal!
shouldnt you install the cylinder drain bolt before re-filling? i forgot too just now and it was everywhere hahaha
Same haha
Did the same lol
Great tutorial - if only all instructional videos were this clear. Thanks !
What software did you do the tracking and circular animations with? Very simple and elegant, really nice!
I used some plugins for Final Cut Pro X :) Thanks!
Hi Mitch,
All your videos are really creative and simple. good job and keep it up!
i bought a Ruckus and did not modified it at all, my issue is,
when i drive it 40KMP speed for about 4-5 minutes the engine light blinks for 3times pause and again it blinks, then the bike speed reduces automatically.also some water drops comes out from the air cleaner box.
can you kindly help me on this.
Thanks in advance
UJ
Excellent video, completely detailed
Great info for me as a new owner! Thanks for doing these videos.
mitch i subscribed ur tutorials are so good showing everystep is awsome and the camera view is clear alot of videos the camera view sucks but urs are really good do you have to add water to coolant or can you use all coolant?
Welcome to my channel! Thanks for the nice comment!
Distilled water 50/50 mix with coolant if the coolant bottle say “need to mix” but some coolant are 50/50 already so no water need to add
Really good, easy to follow videos. Quality Stuff!
this are great videos man, super easy to follow
😄👍🏼
What's the deal with the "cylinder drain bolt?" What's its function, and why remove it?
Captain Kirk To drain the fluids in the engine as the fluids drains out under the radiator.
Hi, friend: please clarify a doubt, after changing the coolant or antifreeze. Should I purge the air that is trapped inside the radiator? or in this type of motorcycles it is not necessary? How is the air purging done?
Thanks for your help!
Greetings from Bolivia, South America.
Yes you should remove trapped air.
I drained the coolant and refilled with new. After a short ride the red coolant temp light came on. Removed the rad cap and topped up the fluid, on the kickstand, I ran the engine (rad cap still off), for a few minutes blipping the throttle. After a bit air bubbles became visible while revving engine. Continued blipping the throttle until air bubbles stopped. Air purged. Good to go. Problem solved.
thank you mate! i enjoy your videos! specially the adventures
very, very, very well done video. Nice job. Mitch and thank you.
Hey Mitch, thanks for this really helpful video! Quick question! After you started and let the bike idle after adding the new coolant in, did you top up the radiator with straight coolant or what that more of the 50/50 mix that you added in the first time? Thanks!
Probably more of the 50/50 mix
I'm about to do a 2500 mile service at 2200 miles (run full throttle mostly) what would you say needs to be done? The coolant level is just above the low line so I was thinking I might as well do the coolant
Hey you just need to change coolant every 2 years ...
Extremely helpful, Thanks Mitch!
Hey Mitch, my Ruckus says my engine is overheated after 5 minutes of riding. When this happens it slows down tremendously to 5 mph. What should I do?
Make sure the coolant level is full. Check the engine oil too
You have air in the system , let the air out by letting it idle with your rad cap off. You see bubbles coming to surface. When no more bubble , readjust level
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the process would be similar for a Zuma 50cc?
Dude, these videos are perfect! Thanks man!
Awesome glad to hear that! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Does it matter what anitfreezer you use to make the 50/50 blend? I have the Prestone brand. Many are saying just stick to honda 50/50 antifreezer but it's more expensive and I already have coolant in my garage.
Good vid. I'm about to do it. Tks for instructions.
Good luck!
I'm curious about the drain bolt on the other side of the scooter. What does it hold or what's it's functioning?
Is it just regular water or special type water like tap water?
Thanks! So if I have the coolant that you suggested off Amazon, I don’t need to mix with water m, correct?
No problem! Yes correct, ready to pour right away
Love the vids bro thanks for all the help with the ruckus
Yes doable... put it in the oven to loosen up the glue to get lens off, I did a few times before
Excellent video, thank you for posting!
Our pleasure!
Im not a fan of scooters and yet ive subscribed to this channel after watchin only to vids. Go figure...
haha cool man! :)
OK, I had an issue while doing this change, so can someone please tell me what I did wrong? In the video, he puts new coolant in *before* he puts the bolt on the left of the bike back in, but when I put the new coolant in, some of the new coolant started draining out of that open bolt slot, forcing me to replace the bolt and then continue topping up the main coolant tank. I then topped up the reserve tank, and I think all is well, but I wanted to check with y'all, in case doing it in the order I did would somehow trap air, or something. How did Mitch's coolant not spill out of the open bolt when mine did?...
The same thing happened to me. Strange
@@andrewwakkuri9993 I wish Mitch would reply, in case it's something obvious :P
Happened to me also!!
My ruckus doesn’t drain the reservoir when yours does and it also pours coolant out of the other side of the engine if I don’t put that bolt back in before filling… what am I doing wrong do I have a blown head gasket or something? Thanks
Mitches Honda ruckus maintenance
When I started filling again... It just shot out of the cylinder drain hole. I needed to put that bolt back in before filling.
The best videos thanks Mitch !!
What a great video. Well done!
Cool video. That looked easy enough to do
Hey Mitch do you know what’s the thread is for the cylinder drain bolt?
What’s the name of the drain bolt at the bottom of the radiator that you take off at 1:15 ?
Back again to refresh me memory 😆 forgot to clean my radiator for a long time and it was full of gunk
Dang!! 😂😂😆
What kind of coolant ?
honestly anything 50/50 just make sure you do the 4oz. fluid and 4oz. water still. these lil engines dont need THAT much coolant even though its ALREADY 50/50 haha.
If it's 50/50 can I pore the same stuff into both.
What year is this Ruckus?
2011 I think
Great. Amazing. Perfect!
You're welcome Arthur!
Mileage before replacing coolant?
Change every two years
Good man, Mitch!
Thanks man!
Can you use the same antifreeze you use in cars?
Ricardo Lovato ; antifreeze is antifreeze. The stuff just won’t freeze, and 50% water mixed with it won’t freeze either.
I do that for many years... no problem
Where u buy your socket set?
Any chance you have a Honda vision 50cc?
I wish.. USA do not carry that model 😢
Thank you Mitch!
Any ideas on overheating? Temperature light comes on randomly and needs to cool down ? Thanks
Add more coolant and remove possible air from system.
Nice video....greetz from Belgium....
Thanks 🤗
What’s the recommended interval for changing out the coolant?
Every two years
Great video thank you
Thanks Mitch 😎
What type of coolant should I buy
in video description
is it better not to mix water with coolant?
info in description and look at 2:38 ... if you buy a coolant that is not 50/50 mix yet like in this video - you see the coolant bottle say "MUST ADD WATER ... then you will need to mix with water .... use DISTILLED water.... DO NOT USE TAP WATER :) .... this is already mix 50/50 and ready to pour in amzn.to/2DQYo9u
Hey man do you have the link for the old toothbrush?
Yeh Ruck Shop. 👁👍🏿👽
Another good maint video. Thank you
yea; youre the best man
Man youre the best!!!!
Great videos keep it up.
So you're telling me I can use regular antifreeze for Hondas is the blue stuff for Honda ruckus
Honda's own coolant or Zerex blue one for 'Asian' from auto store that's what I use for ruckus
great video ,thank u ,, anton ,god bless
Mitch, I did all your steps but the coolant is not draining from the reservoir. I have a picture I can send you if you would look at it. I’m only getting a little from that bottom drain. It is a real pain.
Drew Goodwin Update?
@@NyuuMikuru1 update???
@@deathpunch23 Get it working back then?
I have an 05 metro, will I have the same cylinder drain plug?
Yes supposed to
I found it, thanks for the reply!
What if you get the oreilly coolant which is 50/50?
Yeah I use Zerex Asian blue coolant 👍🏼
No flushing???
Why is my new coolant coming out of the drain bolt before it fills the radiator up??
hmm did you put new washer in?
No it’s the same one. It seems like for mine, I had to fill up the radiator until it started coming out of the drain bolt hole. Then screw that bolt in and fill it the rest of the way
great video I will do my own thanks
Awesome!!
